Another look at Jean and Dinah

I have to say my inital sticker shock upon seeing the price of Jean and Dinah made me not look twice at the costume again, especially since there is only a photo on display at Casacadia. But, I have been looking at the costume components and taking into consideration the price, I like Jean with the short skirt priced at $2895.00.

Here is what you are getting for your money:
Bra/Corset
Short Skirt (10 inches)
Straw Hat (Small/Medium/Large)
Hand Fan
Accessories (Adjustable Hip Belt, Assorted Bangles, Assorted Necklaces, Earrings)
Bikini Bottom

I say to get the most for your dollars don't take the bra, take a corset and forget about any other option for the straw hat but the large one. In effect the costume will look like the photo below (with the long skirt which costs $100.00 extra), but with the short skirt. At least you can reuse your costume after Carnival. The accesories, belt and corset top can easily be made into an outfit paired with some jeans, bermuda shorts or skirt. The skirt and hat you can wear to the beach, no seriously, that hat will provide lots of shade!

I am not really feeling Dinah, I kind of like the top but I don't like the skirt and the small hat in all the photos. Plus the gold accesories will be useless to me since I don't wear yellow gold (I do wear white). This costume is harder to convert to everyday wear after Carnival and at $2895.00, same price as Jean with the short skirt I would pick Jean anyday.

Oh and what you are paying for at $3295.00 is for either versions of Jean (long or short skirt) with a beaded bra. Here is a secret, for that extra $400.00 you can buy your own damn beads at Samaroos and decorate your bra/corset for less than $100.00.I remember the year I played with Sonia Mack she was selling the feather boa that came with her costume at $150.00 and I bought mine for $75.00 at Samaroos!Think about it, you can use diamantae, crystals, rhinestones, pearls, sequins, feathers and make a uniquely decorated, one of a kind bra AND have stuff left over to decorate the skirt too! So, I hope no one goes for that $3295.00 option unless you are really artistically challenged to the point where you can't even use fabric glue or a hot glue gun.

So, I hope for those thinking this costume might be one of those leftover for new masqueraders after the T.L.C. people have their pickings of the best of the lot, that you realise it is not a bad option at all. In fact I think it will look pretty good on the road come Carnival Tuesday!

Take win TRIBE, take win!!

Well I did say I would be checking TRIBE's website frequently to see when the frontlines photos are posted, by the way I have not seen photos yet but prices are posted:

Dragon Female Frontline is $4500.00

Jab Jab Female Frontline $4300.00

Jab Molassie Female Frontline $4500.00

I see they have now added the Traditional Characters to the website but before I reach there I must point out the SIZE CHART that they have posted for us potential masqueraders (click on it to make it bigger)

Hear nah, they take win with that one! It's like whole day they tweaking and fine tuning that website, adding new stuff but that size chart is INGENIOUS!I don't know if they are the first to do so, but from my recollection that is the first time I have seen a size chart on any Carnival website, correct me if I am wrong. For overseas masqueraders I am sure you guys are happy with that size guide knowing you cannot try on bras in person. It might be a simple gesture that no one had thought of before, but I really appreciate it.
