Monday Wear....

I have already established that I am not wearing my costume on Monday and by now it is confirmed that TRIBE is not giving Monday wear nor will there be official TRIBE baby T's or vests on sale. All you Island People masqueraders are very lucky to not have the headache of thinking of what to wear come Monday, since I am now faced with the dilemma of what to wear on Monday!

My brilliant plan to wear a "costume" might be going down in flames as I changed my mind last minute on what I wanted for a variety of reasons. To get some inspiration I took a trek to Samaroos to see what ideas could be sparked and was overwhelmed with the variety of stuff they have on sale there. Out of that little trip however, I think I have a plan on what I might end up wearing, but everyone else I know is quite comfortable wearing just their costume or boy shorts and a baby T.

So to get an idea of if I am stressing too much on Monday wear I want to know what the other masqueraders will be sporting on Monday, if Monday wear is not being provided by your band/section.

How many of you are wearing your costume, baby t/vest and shorts or another costume? Please vote in the following poll. Feel free to leave comments as well!

What are you wearing on Carnival Monday?
Part of my costume - paid too much not to wear it on both days.
A baby T/vest and boy shorts - I want my costume fresh for Tuesday!
Another costume - I am a two band H.O.
My own "costume" or outfit created specially for Monday.. I like to be original.

A funny thing happened in the nail shop!

So there I was last night looking at a movie when I get a call from New York from one of the “bloggers” who I have yet to meet in person. The first time she contacted me last year was to get help registering in Island People and we have remained in contact ever since. She was calling to ask me how come she does not know about the “green string”. While I am trying to explain to her what the whole concept is, since she has not read the blog for the week, Ms. Blogger starts telling me that she is at the nail shop right then and overheard another customer speaking about playing mas, eventually they start talking about which band each of them is playing with and the other lady asks her if she reads this blog and will be wearing the green string in Trinidad?

My girl was chatting with none other than “tacariguagirl” who will be playing mas with Brian Mc Farlane. Suffice to say the Ms. blogger wanted to get her “green string” to wear on the plane as she will be arriving in Trinidad on Saturday and was quite concerned that she was unaware of the whole “green string” idea to begin with!

I think it is awesome that two random strangers could “meet” in a nail shop because of the green string! Thanks to dougla_1 for this cool idea of the “love inclusive” string. I am hoping to be sporting my green string from this weekend and will be looking at the left hand of everyone I see from next week. If this accidental meeting could happen in a nail shop in New York think of how many other meetings can and will take place in Trinidad!
