Demand YOUR Road March!

"JMC is encouraging all masqueraders to stand up if the dj's do not play the song you want to hear to cross the 'stage'. Demand YOUR road march, not theirs"
That was my friend's status on Facebook over the weekend and I love it so much it became the topic of discussion for the new episode of Bacchanal Factory . I feel pretty strongly about the DJs that hype you up to cross the stage with the song that the crowd WANTS but then plays the song THEY want when it comes time to cross the judging point.

So, who is going to stage a standoff on the road Carnival Monday and Tuesday until we get the song we want to parade in front of the judges with and which song are you voting for to take Road March 2010?

i ask that question time and time again... as i dont play mas and knows not how allyuh choose a song...

How The Hell "I Pay for this" Reach On this List??? That is the Most self absorbed, convolouted, lyrically devoid, verbal drivel of a song which dosent even deserve to be listened to more than maybe 2 times by anybody and for that matter hardly deserves a nomination for Road march...Is the Music That bad that a Crap song like that make this list? Lawd Hwaysus Help Carnival 2010......

and Palance is full of lyrical insight. Or True Lies is NOT self absorbed. Your point is null and void partna. On another note I voted for Palance. However, No Behaviour is strongly favored by me. If True Lies plays when I crossing the stage I standing still LOL

As far as Palance and No Behavior goes its kinda hard. The regular songs I voted for PALANCE but between the roadmix for both songs NO BEHAVIOR has a badder roadmix.

Thats just my opinion.

I pay fuh this road mix with Machel made me take notice of this song. Without Machel it just does nothing for me.

No Behaviour moves me as well.

But my Road March is definitely PALANCE!!! Nothing else moved the children in St James like PALANCE on Sunday!!!

sorry, my road march need to have a 'leggo' moment, that point in the song where you could imagine the strong men letting go and letting you go! 'meet super blue' did not have that and i was most vex it win over 'bacchanal'. 'no behaviour' does not have it either.

Well Empress I didn't Vote For ANY Of the songs.. and i personally dont Like "Palance" neither "True Lies". I never said they were any better..However i was not highly critical of "True Lies" because at least it have a story and real lyrics as opposed to "I pay for this".

Palance, Road show and No Behavior
Seem to be the only 3 songs which embodies a "Road March-Esque" vibe and motivates me to dance and enjoy the music.

ps. If going around telling everybody you paid for somthing isn't self absorbed and materialistic. I dont know what is.

Last 2 years in Tribe were the WORST as far as DJs totally ignoring what the people wanted. Get On was a bit childish sounding to me and Ants was pants. Worse yet, when asked everyone around me was screaming TUSTY, followed shortly after by a prolonged STEUPSSS!

So power to the people in 2010! But oh gosh ... please don't make me palance all day so nah!

(I am still in shock that I went across a judging point to Ants Ants Ants Ants Ants)!

Last year I played in Island People and they're notorious for making you cross to one of Machel's songs. The year Jumbie came out, I had no problem crossing to it because I absolutely loved that song and still do. Last year they made us cross to Ants and my crew and I walked right through the judging point. Somebody pelt a bottle of Blu Water at Machel. LOL. The DJs need to start giving the people what they want. Personally, I like Higher Mas by Zan but that's not making Road March by a longshot. LOL.

If any song needs to be decried for lack of lyrics, it has to be "Pipe". Lol.
As for the Road Mixes, I find the one for "No Behaviour" better than the one for "Palance". The Road Mix for "I Pay for Dis" is hot too. The only song on that list that doesn't move me is Road Show.
And it's sad that it's the DJs who really decide what the Road March is. Maybe each masquerader can vote for the Road March as they collect their costume...

I am honestly fed up of PALANCE! ... it is totally played out ... for all you foreigners who are now hearing the song will more than appreciate and love the song... i mean the tune was released about, what 6wks to 2months ago, if ur a person who hit the gym two months and not 3wks before carnival ... you will get fed up ... i hear that song in the gym, on the radio (lets not forget the KFC Ad), in each fete (same performance, i can tell you EXACTLY what they will perform next ... it goes like this: 1. palance, 2. the goaty... 3. bunji version of traffice then 4. talpree move yuh cortina... and then back to palance)...

please another tune for the road... lets not forget our other very talented artists like Blaxx - Hunting, he not getting a chance to perform his song but ah tellin yuh it hot... it will MOOOOVVVEEE you ... True Lies and definitely No behaviour road mix....

that's my little two cents.

Aight Palance staler than the Kiss Corn Bread add by now. Beside never really liked the vibe for the road it's a more party tune in my opinion. I don't even know that pay for this song.
1. I like True Lies or Iron & Steel the two road mixes sound the same to me.
2. Fireworks
For the most played while not on stage i say:
1. Don't Hold me Back (Machel)
2. Palance
My J'ouvert tune is Judgement Day and Wicked Jab
And for a nice lagniappe
Allyuh wah some Sorrel owa? Eh?

I agree carnival baby, Palance is played out, yet noone stands still when it plays. I'm tired of it by now.

However, in the abscence of Machel, all you ahem * smart people who pay thousands for a costume-especially in a band like Tribe, SHOULD be mouthing 'I pay for this' all the way!
