What's New In The Mas World

D Krewe has added a frontline to "Rhythm of the Drums", price $4,995. Black feathers and black chiffon? Hmmm, interesting !

Legacy's website launched yesterday and I am really liking the section "Aloha Festival" (pictured below) based on the photographs. The rest of the band looks very much like Legacy's style with lots of colour!

A little birdie whispered to me that some "young adults" from a certain band are currently in China overseeing the production of costumes. I was told this is to ensure that the costumes currently in production are up to standard, I guess they are just making sure that the fate that has befallen other bands does not occur with THIS band for Carnival 2011.

And talking about costumes being made in China, Trade and Industry Minister, Stephen Cadiz is discussing zero rating 32 items that are imported to be used in costume production in Trinidad. According to the Trinidad Guardian the issue of importing costumes also came up and "and while it was immediately denounced and criticized for jeopardising the industry, the issue of there not being a viable costume-manufacturing industry locally, was raised.". Lots of "issues" being talked, I want to know if this means cheaper costumes for masqueraders!
