D Krewe Presents "Zia" Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2013

" ZIA,
For 2013 we welcome you on a journey, one that takes us to Papua New Guinea. Located in the Southwest Pacific Ocean, geographically east of the Malay Archipelago, Papua Nuigini is a land rich in copper, gold, and natural gas.
As we zoom across this arcadia, we come upon the Goruka Show. A famous annual Sing Sing. This is a festival of song, dance and rituals, with a gathering of over 100 tribes. One of which is the Zia.
The Zia are lead by the respected Elders as they dance the Bwetayobu to the drums of the Kundu Pipel and are adorned with the jewelry, hand crafted by the WoodCarvers. Their ceremonial costumes are adorned with feathers of the Yewa, bird of paradise, the Passiflora flowers and the leaves of the trees within the Kofure forest. The Shamans arre constanly on the defense from trickery by the Masalai who are a dangerous threat to this wonderful festival.
We invite you join us on an adventure to explore this awe-inspiring tribe. "
