Sure pick hits for C2K7

By Peter Ray Blood

IT’S that time of year again, when the radio frequencies that specialise in playing local music begin heavy rotation of likely hits for the upcoming Carnival season. There’s already a flood of new music on the airwaves, with some of it already being played in the dance halls.

Many of last Carnival’s hit-makers are back again with potentially good tracks to once again rule the roost through the reign of the Merry Monarch and beyond. From early appearances it seems that sampling would be the big deal for C2K7 with the Bajan artistes even having an entire CD consisting of sampled material of familiar melodies.

Returning with good tracks for 2007 are Surge (Deception): Shurwayne Winchester (Alequa and Secret Admirer); Impulse (Talking Dog); Crazy (Cold Sweat); KMC (Kill dem wid Song); Destra (I dare you); and, Ms Alysha (Wuk yuh man).................

Bogus Fete Listing!!!

Today's "Pulse" in the Trinidad Guardian notes Peter Ray Blood as saying the following:

The C2K7 events diary

"These past few weeks I’ve been besieged by calls and e-mails from irate promoters concerning a 2007 Carnival diary of events posted and circulated on the Internet.

Apparently, the schedule is terribly flawed with a lot of misinformation. But, to my faithful, locally and abroad, keep the faith until Christmas Day when I shall publish the most sought after, and accurate T&T Carnival diary of events on the planet......."

I have to apologise to everyone for perpetuating the transmission of misinformation, as I got the fete listing from both an email and from islandmix.com. When I saw that all the fetes were the same as this year I thought to myself, wow, little has changed for 2007, not knowing the list was inaccurate.

Now, we have to wait for Christmas Day to get a nice present from Peter Ray Blood, the accurate fete listing for Carnival 2007.
