I think this is an awesome idea to buy and support local talent, especially for all your upcoming Carnival events; check out the list of designers you may also be able to score some Monday Wear from J. Angelique Clothing and swimwear from Chandra Maharaj.
Trinidad Lookbook Hosts Fashion Weekend To Showcase Emerging Designers
November 10, 2012 - Port of Spain, Trinidad. It’s all about exposure. In the fashion industry, it’s imperative to get your name out there, develop your brand, and find your client base. Out of this ilk comes Style Spirit Fashion Weekend, a three-day fashion and lifestyle event.
Produced by Trinidad Lookbook, Trinidad and Tobago’s premiere fashion magazine, Style Spirit aims to both introduce breakthrough designers to the local fashion market, and boost Trinidad and Tobago’s burgeoning fashion industry. Scheduled for December 7th-9th, this event is geared specifically towards emerging designers from across the Caribbean region.
“At Trinidad Lookbook, we have always encouraged a more progressive approach to local fashion,” said Mel Gabriel, Editor-In-Chief of the magazine. “We believe Style Spirit will be an opportunity for emerging designers to re-evaluate and redefine the industry. We look forward to changing the current language about the fashion industry in Trinidad and Tobago, and using this weekend to negotiate a sensible approach to its sustainability.”
Set in a massive warehouse, the weekend’s events will include designer presentations, an accessories trunk show, insightful and informative seminars, networking opportunities, and after-parties with top local DJs and VIPs. Trinidad Lookbook has committed itself to promoting and supporting the local fashion industry and its stakeholders. Style Spirit is an extension of this goal.
