Hindsight is 20/20.....

*Always break in ALL Carnival footwear weeks before hitting the road. Just because you are wearing sneakers does not mean they will be the most comfortable to jump up in.

*Remember your Dr Scholls, this will save your feet! The range of products from gel insoles to blister pads are a God send for bruised, tired and aching feet.

*The best makeup for the road is the sweat proof type; Revlon Colorstay makeup NEVER fails. Testament is my fresh looking makeup which lasted all day, and best of all it did not melt, run or cake. The Milk of Magnesia as a primer worked amazingly well to keep oily skin looking matte all day!

*Drink lots of water on Tuesday before hitting the alcohol. After having alcoholic beverages on Monday your body needs the water to recover or else you will become dehydrated.

*Eat a good breakfast on BOTH days, you will need that fuel to keep going until "lunch time".

*SUNBLOCK, SUNBLOCK and more SUNBLOCK!! Don't forget to use the after sun cooling gel to soothe the skin after two days of brutal sun.

* Do not overdo on the feteing. Your body needs the rest and avoid getting wet at parties where the habit is to soak you to the bone! Think about it, most of you are coming from cold weather to a hot and humid country, coupled with sleepless nights and getting wet at various events makes the perfect formula for getting sick!

*Book accommodation for the following year early. Prime areas like Woodbrook and St James are reserved up to a year in advance.

* And finally, start saving the pennies from NOW. Band launchings will start at least 5 months from today with registration close behind. Carnival is an expensive undertaking and the key to surviving financially is planning and budgeting.
