My Team Events is hosting Carnival Hunters on Sunday 6th January, 2013 at the Queen's Park Savannah. The first-time event targeted toward the many stakeholders involved in ‘The Greatest Show on Earth'. 

It is intended to be a fun, enjoyable, health-conscious, team building experience, all with the aim of raising funds for charity. 

This unique and exciting event encompasses a Scavenger Hunt, Health and Wellness Expo and a Cultural Festival with up to $20,000.00 to be raised for charity and $10,000.00 to be won.

Cirque de la Boheme Carnival 2013

So there is a new event on the calender for Carnival 2013,an adult themed show called :Cirque de la Bhoeme". I have been told that a lot of notable people are involved in the production, including Addae Gaskin, John Thomas, Ras Conrad, Darren Cheewah and Marlon Dibique to name a few.

Style Spirit Fashion Weekend opens December 7-9, 2012

20 emerging designers and three top industry experts headline the event

To end 2012 on a fashion high, Trinidad Lookbook launches its highly anticipated Style Spirit Fashion Weekend this Friday, December 7th. Starting with the Opening Gala on Friday, the event will showcase talented emerging designers and provide essential professional development from top industry experts. Leading the workshops are:

Adam Cooper is Head of Brand Strategy & Planning at Abovegroup Ogilvy. Adam spends most of his time delivering brand marketing results to clients whose primary goal is to build brand equity and meet sales goals. He will be leading the “F*** Brands. Build Cultures” workshop on Friday, December 7.

Patrice Grell-Yursik is the Trinidadian born editor of www.afrobella.com one of the biggest beauty blogs in the world. Patrice is currently on Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 list, alongside the likes of Jay-Z, Oprah and the Obamas, and has written for to Essence, Newsweek.com, xoJane.com, Ebony.com, and Italian Vogue’s Vogue Black. Patrice will be a panelist for the “The Beauty of Interaction” workshop on Friday, December 7.

Misa Hylton is the woman behind some of the biggest fashion trends and has styled well known stars such as Mary J. Blige, P. Diddy, Missy Elliott, Notorious BIG, Queen Latifah, Serena Williams, Lil Kim, Chris Rock, Kimora Lee Simmons and 50 Cent. Misa’s been a guest host on E! Entertainment's "Grammy Fashion Review" with Joan & Melissa Rivers and was a Fashion Technology Consultant for Microsoft. She created Chyna Doll Enterprises, a fashion styling firm and currently leads The Misa Hylton Fashion Academy in New York City. Misa will lead “The Spirit of Style” workshop on Saturday, December 8.

All workshops will be at Medulla Art Gallery on Fitt Street in Woodbrook, Port of Spain. Registration is available by emailing events@trinidadlookbook.com and on site.

What do you get when you mix one fabulously fantastic Carnival headpiece, fishnets, a professional photographer and private set with Trinidad Carnival Diary ? Bacchanal in the Boudoir!

Now you may be asking yourself what exactly is a "Boudoir Photoshoot?" The long explanation can be found HERE but to surmise it is a sexy themed photoshoot for women, and even men, where the focus is on creating stunning photographs of you at your sensual best . What you do with your  photographs afterwards is totally up to you, though most people choose to share then privately, give as a gift to a significant other, make it into a calender (Kim Kardashian did this as a surprise for Reggie Bush's birthday) and in my case I simply wanted photos of me to celebrate my birthday and I plan on displaying  them on my wall! 

The idea for a Boudoir Photoshoot came to me when I noticed it is becoming an increasingly popular trend in Trinidad with  several photographers offering packages. I chose Sincerely Sensual as the photographer and I immediately hit it off . She (female photographer) and I had a great rapport before we even met with several emails back and forth explaining what I envisioned,especially how I wanted to reuse my Carnival headpiece. I LOVE Carnival (as we all know) so what better excuse to dress up in costume and get photographed!

Included in my "Supermodel Package" was a private set, photographer, makeup artist and hair stylist in addition to being able to pre select the photos that I wanted which were then presented on C.D. This type of shoot is not for everyone, admittedly, however if you are thinking you need to look a certain way or that posing for a stranger in lingerie will be uncomfortable I can assure you it is not. The first thing to note is that the entire photography session is done PRIVATELY, in this case the photographer was extremely professional and gave tips and suggestions  on how to pose and relaxed you so that the whole session was fun. Sexiness is a state of mind, not how perfect you may think your body is.

So what exactly happens on this shoot? Well, the pampering starts on arrival, there were refreshments on set (wine, rum punch, water, snacks) then you are whisked away for makeup and hair and when you have transformed into a Goddess the photography portion begins. The two things I learned is that it takes literally HUNDREDS of shots to get the perfect one and the hardest part of this shoot was not so much constantly arching your back but knowing what to do with your face; you don't want to smile too much, but then again you don't want any cheesy pouty looks either. In the end the photographs were fantastic and I am very, VERY happy that I did it. I think every woman should have a Boudoir photography session done at one point in time in their lives, even if it is just for YOU.

It is also a GREAT idea for those of you working out for Carnival to show off your hard work, what better way to "reward" yourself than with a private photoshoot? And yes it may seem a bit vain and self centred to some but I am ALL for loving and celebrating yourself in every single possible way. Life is too short to worry  about what other people think.

And guys you are not to be left out either, the photographer who did my Boudoir Shoot also extends her services to fitness models (and regular dudes) so if you are one of those men who literally live in the gym or are proud of all your hard work do not hesitate to contact Riana ,yes a female photographer. I was told the featured model and personal trainer (soon to be MY  personal trainer, going hard for Carnival 2013) in the following photographs had a FUN time and so did the photographers! Don't you think MORE men should be photographed?

La Danse Caraibe Stages Spooked

On Saturday December 1, 2012, La Danse Caraibe (LDC), Heather Henderson-Gordon’schildren’s dance school, will open the curtain to Spooked, a ballet with a unique folk twist. Trinidad and Tobago’s traditional folk characters will take centre stage in this play in movement that continues on Sunday December 2, 2012 at Queen’s Hall.

This mystical journey in dance, tells the tale of a young girl, Precilla, who gets lost in a haunting forest. Precilla journeys through the forest, which is home to a host of unspoken characters. Along the way these characters reveal themselves to her taking the shape of mischievous Blue Devils, playful Baby Dolls, the infamous La Diablesse and scandalous Jamettes. Ultimately, Precilla must find her way through this unfamiliar territory to return home to her brother, Smithy, and her grandmother. In signature LDC style, this ballet will weave its story in a variety of dance genres including classical ballet, modern, tap, Hip Hop and folk.

LDC opened its doors in 1986 to offer training to children from age 3 in the ballet and modern dance styles of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). With a vision to develop well-rounded dancers, the school, which encourages its students to train in a minimum of three (3) disciplines, was the first in Port of Spain to compliment its classical and indigenous dance instruction with urban Hip Hop techniques. LDC boasts a long list of past productions including the musical,Dancer, which featured an original sound track composed by Roger Israel, musical direction by Allison St. Clair and a script that was adapted from the book written by Marguerite Gordon.

Prepare to be taken on a whimsical journey through Trinidad and Tobago’s folk history at LDC’s Spooked. YUMA Mature Section? NOT!

Seems as if April Fools came early for 2014 or someone has a wicked sense of humour. I received an email yesterday with a flyer advertising what looked like a legitimate new section in YUMA geared towards "mature adults". After investigating and even calling the numbers listed on the flyer, I was assured this was a legitimate YUMA section and was even given directions as to how to register.

This morning I spoke to one of the Directors of YUMA who denied knowledge of any said mature section called "Inspiration" and I was informed that the only YUMA sections that fall under the band are the ones displayed and sold at the mas camp. Investigations are pending.
