Dr. Martens Boots!

Ok, I went into the archives to unearth some old Carnival photos of me, since I lost many of my digital photos when I got a virus last year. I found this one, which I had to scan, where I am wearing my Dr. Martens Boots. I cannot remember the year( check out the standard and how high the waistbands were worn) but the band was Harts:

Like I said yesterday those boots were COMFORTABLE, with a little heel and lacing up to mid calf, in fact they were exactly like these Dr. Martens which I found on Zappos, except that these are now upgraded in white and rose with a laser cut design that I think is fabulous for the Myths and Magic theme :

Dr Martens even have velvet boots now, coming a long way from the days of just black leather boots, which they still manufacture:

I have also seen ladies spray paint these boots (or similar ones) silver, gold and other colours to match their costume. These boots might be expensive but I can vouch for the fact that they are comfortable and it still has a small heel so it gives you height as well. Just another option for those looking for boots but cannot fathom playing in spike heels!

Carnival Websites to Note

Though Carnival is 5 months and 24 days away (whose counting?) I suggest that you bookmark these two blogs for future reference.

Yesterday the topic was footwear and the lady with the do it yourself boots, Afro Chic, has started a blog for boots and boots orders; In addition to this website where in the future you will be able to order your custom made and decorated boots, she also has another site where you can get your fete tickets! The latter blog I know will be extremely helpful to the foreigners who always need to source a ticket at the last minute!

Finally, with Carnival fast approaching and so many "nekkid" costumes on offer to masqueraders, the time is now to start the diet and workout plan. Though I have been quite lapse with participation, if you need motivation, tips or general support to reach your fitness goals for 2008 please join the "Carnival's Biggest Losers" group on yahoo.
