Featured Friday!

Look how I almost forgot to share that allyuh.com has featured Trinidad Carnival Diary on their blog this Friday. You can read the entire interview on their website, but here is a little tease:

Following up IZATRINI.com, the second in the Featured Friday series and just in time for Carnival we present Trinidad Carnival Diary.

Ignore the disclaimer in the header of this blog as Trinidad Carnival Diary is the destination for up to the minute Carnival insight and information. As you will find out below Saucy Diva is as addicted to providing information to her “community” as she is about Carnival.

In addition to providing us with her 2007 predictions, she certainly didn’t shy away from giving heat to the current direction of Carnival while providing her thoughts and insight on changes she would like to see. Listen up NCC, the Saucy Diva has spoken!

Check out allyuh.com for the rest of the interview!

Feteing or not..........

So I missed out on TRIBE’s fete last night, and anything else that was on yesterday having taken a decision that I was going to change my hair I spent yesterday taking out the braids that I spent all those hours putting in! My hairdresser was at Salybia enjoying that fete, so I had to wait until today to get my hair issues sorted out. Such is the price of “vanity”! I will be spending the greater part of this morning at my hairdresser.

I already read Carnival Jumbie’s review of Beach House and my friends told me Salybia was awesome, though I am a bit sad I missed out on a good lime yesterday I have to say the fetes leading up to Carnival have been not been enticing to say the least. Firstly the prices have been a big turn off, one of the best all-inclusive fetes I have been to in the past years was ONE fete this year and that only cost $250.00, tell me why then must I now pay the same to go to a random fete this Carnival week that does not even have Machel HD on the billing? Secondly, every review I am hearing of fetes is anti climatic, I am yet to hear of one fete that I feel I missed out on by not going. Either the performers were not up to par or the landscape of the fete has changed so much it is now a turn off.

Pre Carnival week I have been to UWI, ONE and Rotary Club all-inclusive last Sunday at Normandie Hotel and of those I only paid for ONE Fete, so it’s not like I have not enjoyed any parties this season. Tomorrow I am hoping to go to Dawn as my girl friend is getting complimentary tickets, other than that all other plans are up in the air. Obviously the fete prices are targeted at “foreigners” landing on our shores with an urge to fete as much as possible within this week, willing to fork over the U.S. dollars to ensure they have a great time. As a local with a few fetes already under my belt and still in need of several items on my Carnival checklist I am neither here nor there if I miss out on anything really. At this point I am so ready to play my mas it is unbelievable!

All of you partying this weekend don’t drink and drive, yes I know you have heard it many, many times and it seems quite trite but too many accidents happen around Carnival time. Call me paranoid but you do not want to mar the weekend with some unexpected mishap, leading to the absolute worst of not being able to play mas after all these months of anticipation. Be safe people and I just might bounce you up in a fete this weekend!

Live TV!!

Lovechildintoronto and Tru, this one is for you both as well as all who are stuck in the cold missing Trinidad right about now and that also includes those who missed their flights due to Tuesday's storm and were forced to cancel all Carnival plans.

You can now view Live TV online at Jump TV with international channels including Trinidad and Tobago's CNC3 and Gayelle. The best news is that Gayelle will be showing Carnival coverage on Monday and Tuesday plus other events over the weekend! Jump TV has the full program guide, just visit the site, click on the link to Gayelle and scroll to the bottom of the page for all the scheduled shows.

The service is not free however, you must pay a fee. There are package bundles where you get all the Television and radios stations on offer or you can simply pay for Gayelle only which is $6.95 per month or $17.95 for three months.
