Best Dressed of the Fete - St. Francois

St. Francois
Saw lots of trends at this fete, unfortunately there is a difference between wearing the clothes and letting the clothes wear you. Just because something is in style does not mean it is stylish on you. Looking fashionable is less about wearing or owning the latest trends and more about wearing what is comfortable on you.

My pick for Best Dressed of the Fete:

Though the outfit is simply put together, I like the fuchsia pink coupled with the pin striped hot shorts; nice contrast as it would have been too easy to wear black or white with the shorts.
The top is sexy without being too risque, of course she has the body to pull off the plunging decolletage quite well. Notice she has not overdone the accessories, just chandelier earrings and a cuff bracelet with tasteful makeup and well groomed hair makes the total package look well put together! I like this look because nothing about it screams "trendy".

Slacking Off !

It’s not intentional that I have yet to go to the gym for the weight training that is suppose to start in week two of the six week fitness plan, believe me I tried to go on Tuesday and Wednesday but ended up getting distracted and sidelined. If it is not the traffic that beats me on afternoons it was my gym partner standing me up, leaving me waiting fully dressed.

If I go to the gym today I can still get in my four days of weight training though that means going to the gym every afternoon until Sunday! I mean, I have no one to blame but myself really and I guess that is the price I have to pay for slacking off. So for all those wondering why I have not given any fitness updates for the past two days, well that’s because I have nothing new to report! I went walking on Tuesday and yesterday after being left waiting I simply changed, took a shower and went in my bed!

Well, I have avowed that today is the day and nothing is stopping me from making it to the gym tonight! Time is ticking and that is something I cannot afford to spare.

Deliberate Carnival Drama?

Now, I guess I am looking at this from a biased point of view because of many reasons, none of which I will disclose here, but I am beginning to think that the Newspapers, like always, are grasping every opportunity to sensationalize the issues surrounding the Government and the hosting of Carnival 2007. Yesterday’s front page of the Newsday blazed “More NCC Bacchanal” while there is another article in today’s Guardian stating “NCC Boss still a guessing game”.

Within the confines of what I can say at this time (you will have to wait for the Press Conference for more specific details) all I will reiterate is that Carnival 2007 will be one of change and with change there will be some challenges. That does not mean plans are not afoot to have things run as best as they can, matter of fact there are big plans in store, however all parties involved are quite aware that nothing less than a success is unacceptable.

Somehow I am thinking lots of Carnival critics are waiting for this year’s celebrations to "fail” proving all the predictions true, however those people are not true Carnival “Jumbies” and "Babies", they have no idea that the real driving force behind Carnival is not the Government or some other state agency it is the people! The success of this event is only dependent on one thing, us! And it is getting somewhat tiring to constantly keep reading that Carnival is in some state of flux. Not only is it trying to create unnecessary drama and uncertainty in the public at home but those overseas with no connection as to what is really going in Trinidad are left guessing and wondering if Carnival will be a disaster!

If it is any consolation, whether a new chairman has been named for NCC or not plans for Carnival are going ahead at full steam. Has anyone noticed that the vendor’s booths around the Savannah have begun to be constructed? I guess the vendors will remain in the same place as they have been over the years. I look at that as something positive, since there was a lot of talk about vendors being displaced and in the end they are right back at the Savannah! So let that be an indication of things to come, though we might be bombarded with what seems like a constant flow of negativity, they can never stop WE Carnival!
