Campus Carnival 2011

I remember my days of living in St Augustine and the weekend before Carnival Sunday being assaulted with a full blown Carnival taking place on the University of the West Indies Campus. Complete with music truck and  "costumed" masqueraders Campus Carnival always reminded me of a College J'ouvert because of the t shirts and generally  wanton revelry.

How Campus Carnival has changed! Now it is designer costumes, photo shoots, Facebook Pages, packages with makeup for the ladies, all inclusive with premium drinks and extensive menu, not to mention the trucks now have popular DJs on them! Campus Carnival takes place on February 26, 2011 and registration is in full swing by the many Bands that are offering a plethora of choice to the discerning student and some non students alike!

Students from UTT, COSTAATT,  SBCS, SAMS,  TTHTI and USC are also welcomed to participate.

The launch of Campus Carnival takes place tomorrow

Gods of Olympus boasts that they are the first Campus Carnival band to feature a full costume experience with costumes designed by Valmiki Maharaj and created by Sophie Rickson. For more information on Gods of Olympus check them out here:

I wonder if the rumours are true that just for making it to the Finals the minimum take home "prize" is  TT$100,000.00?
Congratulations to all the finalists and I do hope that the twitter feud between @machelmontanohd and @destragarcia is settled before the day!

Bitdepth Features The Sauce!

Today's Trinidad Guardian Bitdepth Article features none other but yours truly, when Mark Lyndersay asked me for an interview a few weeks ago I had no idea that this would be the end result, I am actually blushing! One thing though, the phrase "Cheesecutter Wine" and the 10 Commandments of Frontline H.O.ism is 100% credited to the infamous Pretti Dolli, from whom I learned all that there is in being a Frontline H.O.!

DJ Private Ryan SOCA BRAINWASH 2011 AND BODYHEAT 3

Two very requested and long anticipated mixes are now up for download.

Soca Brainwash 2011 features many of the soca hits that are in rotation on the radio and parties. For the foreigners coming in for Trinidad Carnival you will get to know many of the soca hits you will hear on the road and in the parties and even some of the Soca Monarch semi finalists. This mix is over 2 hours long so enjoy.

BODYHEAT 3 "The Fist Pump Edition" is the first of its kind by me. It features only house/pop and mainstream hits. Unlike the bodyheat mixes that had many genres mixed up, this one takes more of a house feel in an hour of upbeat energy.

Starting De Lime Early!

Last evening I was invited by the Hyatt Regency Trinidad to "Start de  Lime early" with a pre lime event for their first all inclusive fete LIME.

I was told that invitations to the event  were issued to LIME's Top Twitter Fans (meaning those who constantly engage in a rapport with @theultimatelime) as well as a the largest local ticket purchasers to date. My invitation came because of the fact that my blog posts have been noted as one of the top drivers of  traffic to the LIME http://www.ultimatelime.com/!

The idea of a pre lime LIME is a novel idea as I don't think I have ever heard of a Fete that has "feted" their top supporters with a pre party! We were kept topped up with signature cocktails like the Forbidden Lime and Lime Time plus enjoyed an array of hors d'oeuvres such as chicken pot stickers, shrimp skewers, tender beef skewers, mini crab cakes on coo coo, geera chicken puffs, green fig souse and cheese tartlets ! I am guessing a small sample of what might be available at the LIME  Fete. There was even live music at last evening's lime!

And since we were told specifically NOT to walk with cameras I do not have any photographs to share save the ones I stole on my mobile phone!

I already have my ticket to the LIME (and no it is NOT a complimentary ticket) but if you do not and you want a chance to win a pair, today is the LAST day to enter the LIME's Facebook competition where you guess how many limes are in the jars at the Hyatt's lobby! Good luck, contest closes at 11:59PM tonight!
