Tribe Prices are up!!!

And as I expected Fireman is $2935.00 with the backpack and $2825.00 without,. That price is no big surprise for me at all because for that costume I was looking at the higher end of the $2600.00 - $3000.00 price range that I was quoted. So if you are going for Fireman take the backpack,I think for only $110.00 more the backpack makes a bigger impact with the costume than without. Male Fireman is $2285.00 by the way.

Downpayment is $900.00, but if you read my blog earlier, I said that before so no surprise there either.

I am cool now, that's an increase of around $200.00 more than the most expensive section, Angelfish, this year and $250.00 more than I paid for my costume for 2006. And since my budget is $3000.00 I still have $65.00 left over for stockings and gold spray paint for my sneakers (I don't need boots with that costume) .Everything else better had come in that goody bag (like ear-rings, makeup, glitter and a digicel cell phone) AND I must get something to wear on Monday because I am not spending another cent towards my costume.

Fancy Indians has three prices :

Small headpiece Navajo(2695.00)
Medium Headpiece Cheyenne(2850.00)
Large Headpiece Mojave(3220.00)

Guys have it cheaper at :
2140.00 for the small headpiece
2740.00 for the large headpiece

Warrior Spirit:

Small headpiece Navajo(2750.00)
Medium Headpiece Cheyenne(2875.00)
Large Headpiece Mojave(3250.00)

Male:
2150.00 for the small headpiece
2750.00 for the large headpiece

Fancy Sailor is $2850.00 for female, $2195.00 for male.

Dragon is $2895.00 female, $2195.00 male

Jab Jab female is $2790.00, $2880.00 with standard, the male is $2175.00

Cow Mas is $2685.00 female, $2185.00 male

Jab Molassie female is $2995.00, male $2295.00..I go to be honest, I don't see why this costume is so expensive, all it has is a tail and horns!

Midnight Robber:
Female $2765.00, $2850.00 with standard

Male $2185.00

Jamette:
Bra
$2895.00

Corsette
$2995.00

Pimp:
$2200.00

Pierrot Grenadae
Female $2595.00

Male $2175.00

Jean and Dinah:

Jean - Short Skirt 2,800.
Jean - Long Skirt 2,995.
Jean - Beaded Bra 3,295.
Dinah 2,800.

Yankee Sailor(male) $2050.00

All the prices are not up as yet ..so keep checking the website!

By the way compared to Harts who charge for costume only I find the prices for some of the costumes are fair. For example the Male Fancy Indian costume with Harts is $2015.00 and the Female costumes with large headpieces cost around $2265.00 on average, so the additional $600.00 - $725.00 you are paying with TRIBE takes into consideration your all inclusive package for two days.

But I must add, now that the prices are out I do NOT think that Jab Molassie & Jean and Dinah are worth that high price at all.I know Jean and Dinah is Peter's section so maybe he is using the pricing at his store to account for all the accesories, hat and skirt...but that still does not price out at so much money for something I can throw together from my closet.Jab Molassie has nothing to that costume but the tail and the horns, I can't see anything on it worth the price of $2995.00 unless it is an outside section and they have to pay band fees (the band fees pushes up the price because you know the outside sections still have to make a profit after they pay TRIBE for the spot in their band, the all-inclusive package and to house, market and distribute the costumes.)

To me Pierrot Grenade, Fireman,Fancy Indian with the medium or large headpiece,Warrior Spirit medium or large headpiece, Midnight Robber and Jammette are reasonable for what you are getting (at least those costumes have more "substance" than others) Pierrot Grenade being a real deal because the costume is quite pretty.

Cow Mas and Sailor could have been cheaper since there are no feathers anywhere on those costumes, they both have just a hat.And since Jab Jab is a remix of Anemone it should cost the same or a tad bit more, the extra spokes in the headpiece and collar is not worth $400.00 more, hey I am being honest here.

I will wait for the rest of the prices to make any further comments,so now you guys can decide if it is worth it to you or not.

But saucy. You doh sleep?! Yuh woks no where? I find I seeing post from you around de clock. Yuh want meh to organise a lil donation ting fuh yuh girl? Cuz yuh providing an invaluable community service here yuh know. BTW, how Tribe costumes look in the mas camp? From the pictures you had they look kinda cheap and a coupla frens back home say so too. I real suffering with this second hand information yuh know, but I eh really have a choice nah.

Sleep...what is dat ? Work....well I guess now I will have to look for a job to pay for meh blasted costume!!!

So yes I will accept the donations send dem to P.O. Bag 1116 Curepe Post Office, Curepe!!! LOL

Ent I tell you how the costumes look in the mas camp? Check out meh archives:
http://saucytrini.blogspot.com/2006_08_20_saucytrini_archive.html

"The two costumes that we both agreed were outstanding were Fireman and Fancy Sailor, my friend, who I will call G, said that both of them looked "richly decorated". I was surprised by how much I liked Fancy Sailor when seeing it this afternoon, that is one lovely costume. G also liked Dame Lorraine which I had to admit looked much prettier and detailed than on stage, the frontline Dame Lorraine (with the large headpiece) is very pretty"

I have to make a correction, the Dame Lorraine with the big headpiece is not the frontline,it's option A on the website and the cheaper one..I think the prettier one too.

"Jamette has a fabulous headpiece with an abundance of plumes, however G said the beads on the belt looked cheap, in actuality they are clear red beads with paiettes at the ends, as they are light materials it does look cheaper than heavy beads."

"Dragon has been one of my favourites since I saw it at the launch and still is even though G did not like it for whatever reason (I think she finds it is too skimpy). The fabric on the bra and belt is a fuzzy material that you cannot see from photos. Pierrot Grenade is a cute costume, but again G found the strips of ribbon hanging from the belt looked cheap, though she liked the bra and the headpice.I think the fabric suffered some wear and tear to be honest, it did look a tad bit worn, but I honestly did not find it looked cheap."

"Fancy Indians is nice as to be expected, but not spectacular since we have seen different versions of it before. Jab Molassie backline and Midnight robber were just bland, nothing to make you look twice. The yellow and orange Jab Jab were liked by both G and myself, but the pink screamed Anemone to me."

Now that the prices are out I don't think Jab Molassie & Jean and Dinah are worth that high price at all. To me Pierrot Grenade, Fireman,Fancy Indian, Midnight Robber and Jammette reasonable for what you are getting.

Cow Mas and Sailor could have been cheaper since there are no feathers anywhere on those costumes, they both have just a hat.

I said it several times and I'll say it again. THANK GOD FOR SOU SOU!!! lol A student like me can only handle but so much.

I had figured the prices would've been around that range so I mentally prepared myself for that.

Thanks diva, u fyne the najavo worth it? i didn't take a liking to the Cheyenne and i love the big head piece but i worrying about the practical usage.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

hmm, if you don't like big headpieces I guess Navajo is worth it, but for $155.00 more and still staying under $3000.00 I prefer Cheyenne. Take a look at the pics of Tribe's launch in my archives and you will see how Cheyenne looked on those models.

Awrite Sauce. I go try and organise a lil something for yuh. The least I could do is handle yuh with a lil glitter. I find if yuh playing Indian do the ting right and go with the BIG headpiece.

Of the few prices I saw when I checked the site last night, most of them were very reasonable. When I compare the prices to my (Harts) costume, the similar female costumes in Tribe are US$80 to US$100 more, which is very fair for a two day all-inclusive package.

But the Jab Molassie price is completely ridiculous, and that's not even for a frontline costume. What's up with that?

It's not looking that bad after i considered it for the last couple minutes or so.. time will tell.. u know when registration starting.? i see on the site they have early september.. but i need to know the exact date.

Hi Saucy

Now that the prices are out I feeling good. Some of them are kinda hot but all in all manageable.

When I compare it to Crop Over I paid just over BDS$350 for my costume for one day of revelry. Based on some of the Tribe prices I will be paying about BDS$360 - 385 each day. Which aint bad considering wunna does play mas longer than we and I does get more value for money in terms of food...goodie bag and premium drinks.

I aint decide which section yet but I done start putting aside de funds for me and my girlfriend.

Honestly I aint too interested in IP, or Pulse 8 or HARTS that sorta way. I had a blast with Tribe in 05 and 06....if it wukkin why I gine shift?

So fuh me now, all I interested in is de music for the season...anything new come out yet?

Marc

Saucy, thank you so much for keeping me inform and up-to-date with all these vital information. You are a life and time saver....I am definitely playing with tribe but I have two problems
1. I am a new masquerader and I have to wait until 2005 and 2006 members sign up first (I hope I get to play with my pick)
2. I like Fireman, Dragon, Fancy Indian and Warrior Spirit but I don't know which one to choose from...I hope my friends make it easier for me (that is if any costume will remain after 2005 and 2006 players sign up)
I am always logged on everyday to see if i will change my mind in terms of costumes...Thanks again!

wonderfulkc it remains to be seen how the registration process works, the possibility is that you might get a costume the reality is that the sections you like are the popular ones and might go first.

Good luck!

Thanks Saucy..........your blog keeps me abreast of whats going on in TNT regarding Carnival. I am like wonderfulkc, I want to play with Tribe but dont know what the outcome is going to look like after 2006/2005 picks. Both my girlfriends here in the states are playing in Tribe; they played last year. My sister and I played with Island Events last year, we thought it was going to be a more mature crowd, boy were we wrong. We are both in our 40's but look like we are in our early 30's :} You know us Trinis have great genes. Anyway Saucy please do me a favor and have fete ticket information and possibly a link for us in the States with someone in TNT to provide us with tickets. That is always a pain in the a@$ for us trying to buy fete tickets. Thanks once again for your great blog and i tune in everyday to see whats going on in TNT.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

fiesty, not to deter you from playing with Tribe, but the more mature folks I know play with Trini Revellers (and some younger folks as well).Imagine one of the young fellas in my office (he is only 19) told me just now I will have to stop playing with Tribe because I am getting "old", and I am now heading to my early 30's!You see how they fresh?

Anyway good luck with Tribe, I am sure something will work out for all those who want to play with them.I did not know getting fete tickets was such an issue, I know Island Events used to offer a service where you could by tickets online.
I will talk to someone I know who runs another popular trini website with party events and photos and see if he might be interested in the possibility of offering a service like that.

I promise to keep you updated on fetes as well!

those prices not bad all, they ent go up that much from 2k6. I was anticipating them raising those prices much higher actually, according to all those "rumors" them spreading. The Jab Molassie backline is $500US because of the crystals - and that's still cheaper than the Nylon Pool backline from 2k6 - what was that $800US right?

Anonymous said...

well i didn't get a toothache when i saw the prices just a slight tingle. Like you Saucy, i was shocked by Cow Mas, I was considering it, the damn costume sexy too bad (i had other ideas in mind besides monday and tuesday...hehehe), but i going to have to go back to Warrior Spirit and get my big ass head piece, the costume sweet. The only thing i fraid is if rain fall or them feathers get wet. Feathers don't ever recover from water and the whole section could end up looking like a bunch of patriotic frizzle fowls!! That would be most sour!
