I was informed that Skandalus will not be bringing a presentation for 2007 earlier this week and last night Alexia also confirmed that this is indeed true. To be honest with you I personally don't know of anyone who plays with Skandalus and I have never seen the band on the road, but I do know they have a loyal following year after year. Now that makes another crop of "homeless" masqueraders left without a band for 2007. I wonder if those persons will migrate back to Harts , from which Skandulus was borne, or look for other options?
Speaking of other options both Legacy and Genesis will launch their presentations in October, the former band will show their presentation "Hiawatha" on October 14th at the Anchorage while the latter has not given a date for the debut of "Troy". I am very curious to see if Legacy is going with a Native American theme given the name of the band for 2007, I don't think I have ever seen them do an "Indian Mas" and I really hope they do, it would be quite interesting!
Reigning band of the year Trini Revellers will be holding their launch at Pier 1 on October 15th (busy weekend) and their presentation is "The French Revolution". One private section, has launched from that band thus far; Rugeri Productions "Paris is Burning" and their website is up for those interested in registering or taking a look at the costumes.

Saucy i played with Skandalus, it was our first experience the band was great the people were personable and took care of us. There were some glitches but we are to expect that with all mas camps. I am sadden that they are not participating this year. I hope they reconsider for 2008
I never saw them on the road either you know saucy! Why did they split from Harts again?
Hmm, I think I remember something on the website, here it is:
"A group of friends came together, wary after two Carnival days of “mining carts” and concluded that masqueraders needed something new! A different and better product that would be appealing and still affordable, yet introduce a new way to play mas that gives you room to party and enjoy… safely. The fact that the group comprised colleague from the business sector, experienced in management, marketing, advertising and public relations, made the transition of an idea into a reality – easy. A break away was necessary and inherent to the nature of the separation, the name and maiden theme for the band was born – Skandal-us. The major issues defining the Carnival product were addressed; the quality and standard of the costumes, the manageability and infrastructure of the band and of course, the music.
There was unanimous consensus on the issue of the costumes. All age groups would be catered for and while there would be little or no compromise on the vibrancy and richness of the masquerade, affordability would be maintained. Women’s choices of costumes would be sophisticated and captivating and men would have comfort without paying for and leaving behind half their attire in the box. Distinguished fashion designer Sonia Mack was immediately intrigued and created a signature collection of costumes that fused the elegance of international haute couture to the interpretive designs of the band’s dramatic theme. The results, of course, were completely scandalous"
Yawn. Awrite. De leave cause a de music. Dais enough papa.
That should be 'They' leave. Oh Shimrack!
Good Morning All,
I have played with Harts but never Skandalus but I can tell you they are some of the kindest folks around! I had the chance to visit their mas camp in Woodbrook this year and AS SOON AS I came up the stairs a friendly woman ran up to greet me, shook my hand, and welcomed me to the camp. She conversated with me as I perused the mas and let's just say yuh gyul Dolli was very, very IMPRESSED! The mas was of a fine quality (Yes, it's former Harts people) and was displayed tastefully. I mean, is not backpack and ting throw all about de floor! She asked me if I wanted to register, but I told her that I was already with TRIBE but would watch for them in 2k7. It is such a shame for Skandal not to be back on the road. :( I know folks who had jumped with them and said they had a time!
As for the Harts synchronized music trucks, you know the first time I hit the road with Poison I had to ketch mehself and change up meh chip with the different music? LOL! :p
Them synchronized trucks is a helluva ting eh!
Yes, I was still playing with Harts when they buss out the synchronized trucks and it was like a revelation! Before that we used to have Crossfire from Barbados on the road!
Girl! Nuttin does throw yuh off more than going from one section to the next. Worse yet, if yuh happen to be between two music trucks! PRESSAH!
being between music trucks was the worst. You jamming to one song then you're stuck with two songs going on at once. :-S LOL
I'm sorry to see that Skandal-us is not bringing a band this year. I always liked their stuff. Havana rocked!
Sorry to see Skandal-Us go. My Father played with that band and he was at the mas camp helping them every day for almost 4 weeks before carnival this year. What a lovely group of people. They were most gracious and were always telling me that if I left Tribe they would be more than happy for me to join them.
