Now, I was alerted to this new development in TRIBE's sponsorship by email, and the author was concerned that even though she was not a beer drinker when she does drink beer Heineken is not her beer of choice. In addition she sees it as another form of "exclusivity".
Thanks to a diligent beer drinker who called TRIBE on this issue, we now know that STAG and Carib will ALSO be available for masqueraders, giving them even more choice with the addition of a premium beer as well (hence the reason this post is edited at 8:36PM.)
By the way notice they used the Fireman hat in the advertisement!
I have to admit I also do not drink beer on the road (too many trips to the bathroom when I do) I love my Johnny Walker Black and coconut water, so if they replaced Johnny with lets say Dewars I will be quite peeved. However when I am drinking beer it is either STAG or Heineken, I really cannot stomach anything else.
So what do you beer drinkers think, are you happy with these new developments, do you prefer Heineken seeing as it is a "premium" beer and considered superior to STAG or Carib? Or with the money you are paying for your costume do you want the luxury of choice? Do you think exclusive sponsorship also translates to band exclusivity? I would love your comments on this issue.

As a masquerader I think you should have a choice but from a business angle the deal with Heine makes sense. I does drink Heine mehself so it doh bother me :@)
I love meh Heine but I will be drinking my scotch and coconut water. Cannot stomach carib nor stag so saucy I wit you on dis one!!
I am not a drinker but choices r important, but I do not see much ppl complaining when there will be premimum drinks available like JW and the others.
Can't really tell the difference between the beers to me they all look & smell the same, give u a beer belly and send u to the bathroom to often.
The fellas in my office think it is a great idea since they say Heineken is the best.
I don't drink beer but maybe this will help me choose my Monday wear lol - good thing I didn't jump to buy Carib shorts

As long as I flying high (well not too high, but at least have a long lasting buzz going), bring on the Heine!,,Saucy I like you, I spent a considerable amount of time visiting the porter pottys based on what i drank, if not me, it was my girls and we never wanted to go at the same time but had to accompany each other:),,I was like a mother hen herding everyone which is a definte buzz killer, but by the time we drunkenly lost the 3rd disposable camera somebody had to take charge.

it doh really matter to me because i love meh vodka and coconut water and Bailey's too bad. i too agree w/hottie and sexy eyes. i pay too much money not too indulge in the better niceties.

And sponsorship is sponshorship, they just looking to get more money in their back pocket and Heineken just marketing in their target group
Hey Saucy not diverting off your topic but just to give a little info for the ppl who remember Ian "D Goose" Eligor. You can see him on VH-1 (on cable) Wendy Williams experince on fridays at 11:30 pm he is the program engineer (he does the sound effects, tell wendy when she has 5 sec left to commerical, etc)

I could care less what kind of beer. Don't mess with beer on Carnival Monday & Tuesday, goes right through you. Who wants to be running to the potty all the time -- Hell no!

The outragous prices Tribe and others are charging for costumes they should not be talking about exclusive beer in the band because it sure the hell did not make folks costumes any cheaper for 2007. Folks should have options and now is not the time to I love my Shandy and that sucks that now folks pay for their costume now they cutting side deals with sponsors!WTF
I also could not give a rats ass and I sure the hell not willing to promote any sponsors or product placement in any band next year because it's just another way these band leaders are cashing in on both sides. I know for a fact Digcel alone as a sponsor with Tribe my costume should be under $350. I also plan on having Top of the line alcohol on both days. I drinking $500 worth of alcohol on Monday and getting $1000 worth of alcohol on Tuesday. They better have more than enough bartenders working as well. All those folks that don't drink. I feel sorry for that they willing to spend that type of money for only a costume.LOL

The closest thing I get to a beer EVER is a Shandy, beer turns my stomach, I used to drink it normal when I was like 6 (i not lying eh, my grandmother is a mad woman) but cut it out when I learn better, that and calallo...yuck!
Anyhow to be honest, historically I've been one of those people who don't ingest too much aclcohol so technically I pay for all the over indulgers and fatten TRIBE pocket. NEXT YEAR however is a whole other story. I have found the drink that works for me..VODKA AND CRANBERRY. So I getting ready for them. They'll be getting less of a profit from me than before.
I don't think too many people will have a fit over this new development though, cause they getting the best for their money and I know fellas who only drink carib cause it cheaper.

Saucy, STOP the PRESS!!! Heineken is the exclusive PREMIUM beer of TRIBE. So don't panic! Watch the 1st paragraph of the article. It says,
"As Gold Sponsor, Heineken Beer will be the exclusive premium beer for their carnival presentation and all associated events."
I'm a beer drinker so I called the mas camp to verify. They said Tribe WILL have Carib & Stag on the road :) Along with Heineken!!! Wow, more choice for the masquerader. GO TRIBE!!! The only other premium beers are not available. ie. Carlsberg (if yuh consider that premium :)
So Saucy, I figure yuh going to need to edit your post. I hope "Can Trini" didn't sell their 2 Midnight Robber costumes yet.

Perhaps because Carnival monday is laid back - i tend to go all out - oh gosh - between the vodka and the baileys and the beer - i ent know how i woke up next morning
Anybody that play tribe this year remember the ABSOLUT rest stop...i caan remember where on the route it was...It was along the final stretch though..when the sun started to dip...anyway, it was the best thing - air conditioned tents, nice plush lounges, powder room, and of course ABSOLUT!!!
