It’s not intentional that I have yet to go to the gym for the weight training that is suppose to start in week two of the six week fitness plan, believe me I tried to go on Tuesday and Wednesday but ended up getting distracted and sidelined. If it is not the traffic that beats me on afternoons it was my gym partner standing me up, leaving me waiting fully dressed.
If I go to the gym today I can still get in my four days of weight training though that means going to the gym every afternoon until Sunday! I mean, I have no one to blame but myself really and I guess that is the price I have to pay for slacking off. So for all those wondering why I have not given any fitness updates for the past two days, well that’s because I have nothing new to report! I went walking on Tuesday and yesterday after being left waiting I simply changed, took a shower and went in my bed!
Well, I have avowed that today is the day and nothing is stopping me from making it to the gym tonight! Time is ticking and that is something I cannot afford to spare.

Saucy, good morning (I am up very early today in NYC).
I wondered about that (I figure you didn't go, because you would have written something), but I didn't ask. A partner is kind of essential to help you with smooth forms as you try to do the routines vigorously and safe (you will get wobblely near the end of each -3 sets of 23-30 reps min), so I could feel your little disappointment with being "stood up."
Anyway, a four days straight weight training is super, because you are just trying to make your muscles look lean. If you were trying to build bulk, I would be concerned that you will be overtraining (in the straight four days) and not giving certain muscle groups some time in between the vigors of workouts to grow for mass.
So you are still on track. Don't feel you are sticking. You are still good, cool.
Have a great day!!!
Nah doug-s not trying to bulk up at all! Thanks for the lil encouragement there !
Ok so Dougs is the blogger's personal trainer?! Irie!
Saucy thanks for sharing your humanity (all ah we BEEN slacking off from long time but we figure at least ONE of us is sticking to the program).
This morning I actually went walking IN THE RAIN so I feel pretty good about myself :-)
Saucy don't forget a lot of your weight training can be done at home. There are great websites that can give you different exercises for each body part and they have video to boot so you can actually SEE the movement instead of reading a description of what to do. One that I use is Sparkpeople.com cause it's free but there are many free ones out there. All you need may be some dumbbells (3-5 lbs) or a resistance band. Pushups, tricep kickbacks, crunches, reverse crunches, squats, lunges, calf raises, back extension - those all qualify for weight training. Set yourself a routine of 2 exercises for each muscle group and then change it in 2-3 weeks so your body doesn't get to used to them. I have been working out at home, cardio and weights, with great success. Hardest thing is to put on my clothes and get started. You can do it chile - with or without your gym partner. I just keep saying to myself - 5 weeks to DRAGON!! 5 weeks to DRAGON!! Oh lawd ah going and do some Turbo Jam now self, oui.
Dont' feel bad about getting sidetracked, Saucy. You are obviously making an effort, and when you get going, you put everything into your workouts, so you should be commended for that.
I've also been slacking off. My plans to get to the gym have been sidelined by late evenings at the office, and I was temporarily banned from running due to my foot injury.
I discussed it with the b/f last night and we decided that I could start again tonight because the pain has eased up. So the plan is a gentle run, then some Abs of Steel (groan!), and if I have time, I will do some work with my brand new resistance bands.
What is these resistance bands? I have to look for them. I have dumbells but they too heavy :S
gosh allyuh I glad I am not the only on slacking off.. I find it does real be a challenge with work and traffic. But I have to chant "Fire Bam Bam" all the way :D
sweettrini, nice moves there...:D
Easy, squeezle, easy...we want to see you in Trinidad not nursing a foot pain yuh know... :D
'rah, and the blogger's hairstylist (well, critic anyway)... ; ) LoL.
I like being a design (architecture, pop and not so pop goods)/fashion/movie/lifestyle critic. But I do know my limitations. This is only a personal hobby, but I do like to say why I do like something or not like something according to my aesthetics from bits and pieces of design inspirations that I picked up through the years. Although, I appreciate "classic" styles, I lean more toward lovely modern designs.
When, I come to Trinidad for the Carnival, I am constantly obeserving the entire aesthetics of everything related to Carnival, which is why finding Saucy's blog "Trinidad Carnival Diary" was an amazing discovery on a casual Google search, about three months ago. She is actually covering (DAILY, imagine that) alot of details I am interested in about Trinidad Carnival, as well.
I do observe how people's bodies look during Carnival not in purely lustful ways, but as an issue of how they see themselves. While I love a lot of Trinidad Carnival designs, creative, pure artistry, and joyous energy, I think more women (and men, but my eyes are definitely for the women) must not let themselves get out of shape (for looks AND health). Trinidad (I haven't been to Tobago much, just twice and I was at resorts) has some of the finest young women in the world in the entire color spectrum you can imagine, but I find by about 32 yrs they begin to feel old and let themselves get too out of shape.
Myself, I don't have a hard body, but I do believe I have a youthful on. If we do have the bloggers Carnival Sunday lime, I hope to meet with some of y'all, and allyuh go see if ah blowing smoke...; )
By the way, I love to see old people play mas as well. One of the most beautiful images I have seared in my mind is a masquerader in Minshall's "The Lost Tribe." The Chinese man was about at least 70 yrs, gray hair and all, in his full bedouin gear. And he looked so blissful, chipping down the road. I can visualize him so clearly as I write this right now. Wow, THAT is MAS, and THAT is Trinidad Carnival!!!
At least allyuh start eh.
I am slacking off too bad.
On my way home today, I think I am going to buy a pair of dumbbells and get cracking this evening!!!
Saucy, i feel you...last night was bleeding cold.
i rested lastnight...this morning i did the bike for an hour. And tonight i'll head off for the gym to do some wieghts.
Saucy, check out www.bodylastics.com to see what I'm talking about.
That's not the same brand I have, but there are dozens of different manufacturers offering basically the same product.
The only reason I bought them is because I need to do weight/resistance training, but I haven't been able to get to the gym. Personally, I prefer actual free-weights (dumbbells and barbells) because the resistance remains constant all through the motion. With resistance bands, the further you stretch them, the harder it gets, so you only get resistance for PART of the motion. But for now, it's better than nothing.
bagogyul, yuh know we get spoil with this warm winter we've been having in NYC, so we really suffering now. But I'm looking forward to the higher temps they are forecasting for the weekend.
