With 18 days and counting before the "greatest show on earth" is unleashed for 2007, work is taking place around the Savannah at a hectic pace. Gone are the North and Grand Stands this year, this is now what remains:

The photo above also shows the layout for Panorama Semifinals on Sunday, with the low white fenced area being the infamous "North Ground".
Vendors booths are now decorated with a new logo and though diminished in numbers there are still several located along the parade route:

The Police Post is up, facing Memorial Park:

Here is where the bands will parade before the judges who will be accommodated under this tent right in front of the tennis courts at Princess Building Grounds:

Obliquely opposite is the VIP stand:

Regular patrons looking for a seat will be seated on these stands that line either side of the Parade route up until Victoria Avenue, they are not completed as yet, hence the missing seats:
I must say the proximity to the masqueraders and spectators will be MUCH closer than when they were seated in the Grand Stand and North Stands; these stands put them in a viewing range to inspect every costume as it passes by. Prime viewing seats for sure!

THANKS SAUCY!!!!
JUST LOOKING AT THE PICS IS MAKING ME MORE AND MORE EXCITED -
9 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!
You know...ah can't contain mehself now
I like that bench opposite the judges. How much to sit there?
Saucy, your halo keeps shining brighter everyday :D Thanks for those pictures!!!
I am trying to remain cool, because I still have to finalize a couple of items for my trip. I am looking for Indian wedding shoes for men (then have the sole modify for the road; no gladitor sandals for my "India" mas). I should finalize that this weekend. I just wired monies for costume and vehicle (I am getting an SUV for the first time to accomodate my sister's family on her first visit in 17yrs).
I am getting excited on a steady build (practically only 1 week to go for me arriving Feb 10; could be the same day as gtwarrior).
Thanks saucy. U aint ez girl...u ahead of the Newspapers cause up to now thye cyar show or tell us exactly how the set up would be. All it takes is for them to visit the area and take some pics but i guess it aint important to them. My family would enjoy the closeness of the bleachers but might be concerned about the sun unless they would be covering the stands like downtown pos. Ah cyar wait to get home and tell them so they can organize...THANKS MUCH!!! Mmmuuaaaahh
empress I was thinking about the sun while sitting in the bleachers as well, but those under the trees will get some shade and you know Trinis will bruk out the umbrella !!LOL. Maybe they will cover them, I will be on the lookout for ya.
dougs love the idea of the Indian wedding shoes! You not easy nah.
tantiejean that bench is for free, first come first serve so yuh better be dey from 3 in the morning :D
anon and gtwarrior I know how allyuh feeling! I wake up this morning and say is the 1st of February, only 17 more days !!!!!!!!!!
Saucy these is real good pics! Kudos to you once again!
funny but it make me think of this ludicrous article in yesterday's express about some bandleaders assoc. saying if yuh not playing mas to stay off the streets. U ever hear dat?! yuh think they could built enough stands for that to happen?!? hahaha
Thanks Saucy,
The excitement is building, I cannot wait to get there.......Feb 10th can't come soon enough!
Dougla_1 _ I will be looking for you in those shoes in "India" LOL
ttfootball I find dem bandleaders real bold face! And they want it to be a law too eh! syeups.
well the funniest was a comment somebody write online: they say well if is so then taxpayers, who pay for the roads, should charge a fee to bandleaders for the use of said roads for parading LOL

I can't say I'm very impressed from what I see in the pictures, but I guess it's the best they can come up with while we wait for a better solution for the years to come. Independence Square will now be the "best" judging point (at least this year) - better spectator stands, wider "stage".
..and the booths...they still look like they are built of odds and ends.
