Island People and TRIBE update.

TRIBE is now closed for registration; no word on if Bat eventually sold out or not, but that is it for TRIBE. If you are still looking for costumes, check Carnival Junction, LOTS of TRIBE costumes for sale or barter. Guess the cost of the costumes finally resonated with some people, either that or they cannot get flights to Trinidad for a reasonable price; I am hearing from Trinidad to Barbados it is now $800.00US for Carnival week! Madness I tell you.

Island People still has a few costumes available in the following sections: Nubians, Mirage and Jewel of the Nile, that's right the section that sold out first! Apparently people are selling off costumes so Jewel of the Nile is back on the market. I was also informed that there might be a few costumes available for sale in other sections as well, however, you need to go to the mas camp, get measured and see if they have your size in costumes for sale.

Now doesn't that just give hope to all those still placing ad's on Carnival Junction for "costume wanted"?

Hi Saucy, for IP I know there are still costumes available in Tuareg (limited), Raiders and Mirage however, I was told there are no male costumes in all of IP.

Thanks for that info!

Heya Saucy,
Just some information on costume distribution:
Tribe should be sending out an email today regarding the designated days for costume distribution..so look out for that.
Additionally, a newspaper advertisement should be appearing in tomorrow's newpaper regarding costume distribution days. That's recent info that I got from a Tribe member at the mascamp. Cheers!

trinigyal thanks so much for that info!! I am SOOOOOO looking forward to collecting my costume :D

also let people in tribe know that there are also people selling off costumes so they also need to check carnival junction, they may be able to squeeze into a section that they thought was closed by buying someone else's costume.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

yup, I made a note of that.. carnivaljunction has LOTS of costumes for Tribe. I even helped a friend place an ad for his g/f's Dragon costume today.

IP is soooo messed up.....i was there on the 1st day of registration and Jewel of the Nile was sold out! anyway, thanks for the info...
btw..i bought VIP tickets for AC, does that include drinks/food?

I called 2 Tribe committee members today looking for a last minute costume for a friend. (sigh) They both told me they had no idea about Carnival Junction or Saucy's blog and that it was unwise to purchase online. Steupssssss look if it wasn't for this blog both IP and Tribe players would be out of the loop sometimes. I've sold tickets and costumes thanks to both sites, cash in hand same day in one instance. Thanks again Saucy p.s. try opening your own Carnival PR firm we surely need it!

tantiejean my friend sold her costume on Carnival Junction last year and bought another one from the same site, plus in 2006 another one sold her costume there too.

Now, I would advise the normal precautions when buying anything online, I mean I won't purchase a costume from someone in the US if I am living in Trini and I would ensure they give me a transfer letter, or if you are buying the costume now a copy of their ID with a letter authorizing the person to collect the costume.

saucy i almost fall out my chair..how the hell Jewel of the nile back on the market. that is the section that mek me and ip fall out, when in the first hour of registration that section was sold out...ip could stuff dem costumes, i hope they still got them on their hands come carnival monday.

Tribe swappers please be advised and take heed of what Saucy stated.
Have a letter of costume transfer and a email confirmation of transaction. Please inform Tribe that you are infact transfering costume to "said person" Because Tribe will not have any record of this and will sell your costume by 4pm on Carnival Saturday.

Good Point!

It is also good to note that that deadline for name changes has passed: that deadline date was Friday 2nd February, 2007. Tribe mascamp will not be accepting requests for name changes OR payments for their FastTrack costume pickup list at this time.

Saucy...girrrlll....is like EVERYTHING coming together now eh? Costume, sneakers, leggings, clothes, fetes, beach...cannot wait! Tribe on track man...and PS...any updates for the Blogger's Lime?

LOl.... I had five friends in JOTN that had to sell back their costumes cause they not coming again!! I guess is not them alone!!

Thanks Saucy for the examples. I know i mentioned your site to both IP and Tribe members. Firstly to Tribe crew whilst arguing against ppl with regular high-paying jobs taking away jobs from the umemployed by "working for free" in mascamps. Secondly to the gatekeeper answering calls for IP. Last year I registered 2 first timers in Sahara and within less than 24 hours she refused to do a size change. I had to get 'dutty' and tell her this wasn't a mackeson stout ad this was ppl's money she was playing with. Didn't mean to call her out like that, but her attitude really sucked.
If it's a business please run it as such!

All I want is that Nubian headpiece, Saucy do you think they'll sellit to me alone?

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

lol I dunno, but you can try on Carnival Saturday anon.

tantiejean thanks for mentioning the site but I have a feeling all kinda people does be reading dis blog, Tribe people included lol.

bajangal I had the ask the girl over the phone "Jewel of the Nile, that sold out first?" cause I was jess as shocked as you. Man I was at IP mas camp trying to sign up a girl in Jewel when they say SOLD OUT!

bagogyul and trinigyal true talk bout that costume sale, people need to be aware to ask for all the letters and photocopies of ID that are needed, cause yuh know yuh cyar collect without those.

the wonderer many many people selling costumes, check the junction!!

You know I haven't checked the site for DAYS!!! I think it was just good timing on my part.

But as I check the lineup, it looks like the section 'Nevada' has disappeared. I guess it wasn't too popular???

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

But I thought Nevada sold out early :S

Saucy an' allyuh, yuh wanna hear some funny news? My girlfriend NOW realize she could come home for Carnival...so any suggestions as to where she could find a plane ticket @ this late stage from anyone will be GREATLY appreciated.
She is looking to fly from Frankfurt, Germany...I told her not to worry about getting a costume yet, because de Junction always have something for someone..lol, but we need to get her there! The things I do for my girls..lolol :D

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

There is a charter that flys from Germany to Tobago, can't recall the name right now..I think it is Condor.

If she can get to London she can probably get the Excel charter
http://www.westernair.co.uk/chartertobago.html

And you can check rates on www.kayak.com as well as www.sidestep.com

good luck!

I thought it sold out early too, so I was kinda surprised to see it missing. Don't know what's up with that!

so saucy i see on IP website on the package details section you did not get no more to come and they removed it a bit misleading
im glad tribe is on the ball tho and i think to sell out what they did is an achievment in itself!!

Good luck!!

Hey saucy, great site especially for newcomers. I was on since 5 pm and didn't get to register for a single costume. I was wondering if you knew if Tribe has a waiting list for any sections this year. It says sold out but I'm hoping me and 3 of my crew can still get a bly somehow.
