And even after last year's faux pas where an Island People masquerader ended up in the magazine, the same thing occured this year! This time two masqueraders from Trini Reveller's "Paris is Burning" made it into TRIBE's magazine. Who says fire the editor?

I spoke to one of the members on TRIBE about the photos last year and it is amazing how many members did not notice that they were duplicate photos last year and photos of other bands in THEIR magazine especially the since the editor is one of their own.....
Well that is funny because that Trini Revellers costume was the FIRST thing I noticed!! I did not notice duplicate photos this year but I did see several photos of the same masquerader in different poses and on different pages!

Two funny stories:
Some fellahs I met in Nylon Pool last year saw me chipping wid de Red 96.7 truck and asked me if I was the one jamming with them on top of the truck in that section last year. I said yes, and ended up liming with them again both days for 2k7...And a book pic.
At the rest stop I was napping and stretched out under a tree in the shade and I opened my eyes to see the fellah who was sitting next to me staring directly over my face! I was like, wha? He said he was sorry, but didn't I play with TRIBElastyearinabluesectionwithabackpieceandwasn'tdeiandiindebook? Maccociousness at its best. I was floored...TRIBE masqueraders come back yr after yr and we most certainly remember each other! It's rhelly nice to see folks you've shared some GREAT memories with. Anyone else bounced up with someone they met in previous years?
Saucy, did you get immortalized? I hope so, b/c with your fabulousness on that day it would've been an absolute travesty if you did not! :(
Marc, you are right about the duplicate pics in last year's version, which I did notice right away. At the mas camp, TRIBE stated that they are still uncertain as to whether or not there'll be a DVD this year. :S I would luvvvvvvvv another one.
Also, overseas masqueraders can check checkcarnivalscene.com for updates about the mag as they might sell them as a part of their connection with TRIBE. ;)
ay ay. well look meh dey! I vex that you not there, but then.. I find too often tribe takes of the same people overrrrr and overrr and overr and it gets boring. Plus they seem to only love taking group shots and not individuals by themselves. Last year's own was boring with how much they repeated. and I agree about the editor. pffffffft.. It's embarassing.
p.s. sauce, the picture of you & hubby IS ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN CUTE! No seriously. With his yawning? I think? The picture is really adorable.

And Carnival Jumbie, you sure you didn't burn down Port-of-Spain with your Monday wear?!!! Ah would have been following you all day with a fire engine water truck just to make sure. You are blazing hot!!! I agree with Saucy, it is time to put the Diva back in the Carnival Jumbie!!!
I couldn't deduce some of the others Saucy spotted, but it is fun trying. And and I am so sorry, I didn't get to see y'all either Monday or Tuesday :(
Also, I took very few personal photos Tuesday, and Monday I didn't take any at all (which I kinda regret because I loved my Monday wear creativity with two pieces of cloth provided by "India"). By the end of this week, I'll send Saucy a couple to post if she is so inclined.

I know i met a blogger on Carnival Tuesday, she recognized me by my boots.
But for the life of me I cyah remember who!
Saucy, I am a bit stumped then, because the only identifier I could use would be the Chinese characters on her forearm (no backs in the pictures to see the airbrushed dragon). The images I see are just a bit fuzzy at full size, so it is quite difficult to see that precious detail. However, the person who has what appears to be something painted on her right forearm is wearing a white spaghetti strapped top with a wine (burgundy) colour hot shorts. Again, I could be completely wrong, because to me that top would hide the airbrushed dragon on her back (but then the back of the top may not be a continuation of the front). Anyway, there is still quite a bit of Divaness there ; ), but not as the first pick I had (whose hotter that hot, shorter that short "hot shorts" was the effect I thought she was going for, but Carnival Jumbie did say she had a complete Monday wear that did not have parts of the section costume). So, Carnival Jumbie (Diva) remains quite a mystery to me, still ; )
Prettidolli,leh me work on some weight nah, then I volunteering for free, no worries ; ) On MacFarlane's "India," my friend, Bev (the London posse I hang with), said she felt a tabanca while chipping through the band to find me about 7:30pm Tuesday (in her Tribe's Fancy Sailor costume). She was in love with the mas she saw, and wished she had played in "India". It was Bev who was the inspiration for me to have the "nerve" to play mas 5 yrs ago. I met her on the streets on Tuesday as she was in her mas glory. I thought she was stunning, courageous, and beautiful, and I was compelled to let her know. We have remained friends ever since. Today (and during this Carnival)she looks more beautiful that when I first met her 7 yrs ago. Imagine that!!! Who says beauty is only for the young? (Bev is actually just a bit younger than me) ;)
Dougla_1 look real hard b c I think I made Jumbie out based on her photo on her blog...look real close at the back piece of her top. With that said you should be able to make out EXACTLY who Jumbie is...with your keen eye for COLOUR and detail look agin... ;)

gtwarrior, ok, ok, mystery solved: Orange and blue halter top "swimsuit." Now, ah have to find her in full kit, in Dragon section, Carnivalscene.com (the image on this panel is still too small, she looks all smiles and joy, nice yes ; ).
