Warrior Spirit Collection

I must say for the 600 rumored number of persons allegedly registered in Warrior Spirit the crowd collecting costumes yesterday was manageable. Maybe it is the time the hubbby and I went, which was three hours after costume distribution actually started, but the whole process took about half an hour total. Of course we were not in the fast track line so the wait for payment slowed things as well as the line up to collect your ID band and Food/Drinks Bands.

The soca music was playing a little louder yesterday and there were several persons collecting for other sections not listed to be distributed on that date having collected earlier in the week like Fireman, Midnight Robber and Dame Lorraine. My keen powers of observation also honed in on the hat for Dame Lorraine male which is no longer a top hat but looks as if it was squashed; it is much shorter than the original photos on the website. Also, to me, Warrior Spirit’s medium headpiece looks a tad smaller than I recall from the photos I took at the launch and the small headpiece only has two feathers! If I am not mistaken the small headpiece which is shown for Fancy Indian on the website has three feathers.

My hubby’s costume looks good though, basically exactly as it is shown in all the photos though he is yet to try it on as I think he might be coming down with the virus and was ill last night. His Goody Bag contained the following:

• Promotional flyers/coupons (for Marios etc)
• $10 discount voucher for sunblock,
• TRIBE CD Holder
• TRIBE key chain
• Heineken key chain
• TRIBE notebook
• A mini bottle of Ocean Spray juice
• A pack of Dixie crackers
• A cup
• A small zippered money case
• Lip Balm
• Senvia Bandana
• A Digicel flyer with cell phone and to get a $10 phone card when buying a phone

Or course he ate the crackers and drank the cranberry juice as soon as he left the building so that's why they are not in the photo above!

I would love to say that is the end of costume collection for me, but I have to make the journey again on Saturday!

Ha ha!! I now drank that cranberry juice. I told a friend of mine about the "goodie bag" and he nearly died laughing...
Oh well. I must say , though, I am quite happy with my costume, with how it fits and everything. In fact, I so bazodee, I go try it on again - just to see if dinner last night had any negative effect on how de costume (belly) look, nah.. lol

I am glad you like it since you wanted to switch sections. I saw the headpice and find it looks cute

lol I know, right! And yes, LOVE the headpiece. All the other Imp masqueraders, well, those I encountered at least, were also very happy with their choice. So it is more popular than one would assume. My aunt and all told me she wasn't too keen on Imp when she saw it at the launch. Now, ever since I tried it on, she goes on and on about how lovely it looked. I guess that ties into the whole "wearing the costume vs the costume wearing you" scenario. :) Gorsh!!! Ah real likin mehself, eh? lol

hhahahah saucy! your hubby reminds me of my boy. I gave him his costume last night and my boy open up juice one time with ice and begin to gulp it down.

Did any of them mention that stupidness about the wearing costume on monday nonsense!??

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

No one said anything about having to wear part of your costume, only make sure and have your ID bands. Plus I looked all over for something in print and there were no notices, signs or nothing in the Tribe members guide magazine either!!

TriniQueen said...

Wait...what stupidness about Monday wear? I am NOT wearing my costume on Monday and , just like Saucy, I saw nothing to suggest that I should do otherwise...

Also, Natalie in Imp?? Cool, man. I rest my case ;)

But allyuh whey my bandana? I cah believe Tribe eh give we bandanas.. Well except for your hubby sauce, cause my goody bag didn't have one. We have to go to the fete to get or what?

About the Dame Lorraine hat, when I was collecting an older gentleman was quarrelin about it being a one-size fits all kinda thing, cause he had a rather large head (lol) and it couldn't fit him. The reps weren't being very helpful either...

As for me, I still trying to figure out my headpiece!

south-reds: ENT! There were alot of mixups in the goodies bag. My boy did not get his bandana or dixie crakcers or lip balm or money case. In fact I find the goodie bags were done haphazard or something. I dunno oui!

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

when did you all collect ? Maybe they added that stuff to the goody bag yesterday !!

As for the Dame Lorraine male hat yes, it cannot fit all heads BUT no longer anon's boyfriend got them to take back his hat at the adjustment centre!

HOWEVER, the red guy who gave my friend his armbands did say that one MUST WEAR your costume on monday or else they will cut off your armbands. I questioned him and he reiterated this point.
PLEASE COMFIRM!! I made him tell me like 3 times before i would leave.........

island spice like is only that ONE man making that stupid rule. I tell allyuh already, no one said that to hubby on Wed and I made sure and called TRIBE mas camp 625-6800 to verify that threat and they said you can wear shorts and baby T on Monday as long as u have your bands. That red fella, and I know who it is, looking for somebody to get in trouble if he come with his shit on Monday. I look all over for any kinda written info saying we must wear costume on Monday and I eh see nuttin like that !!!!!!!
