This year I challenged my inner F.H.O. (Frontline Highmaintence Overachiver) and did away with my barely frontline Fireman costume to play Traditional Fancy Sailor with my own special costume designed exclusively for me! Having tasted the H.O.ness I am already anticipating playing frontline again for 2008! I have to say it is quite intoxicating getting so much attention and photographs and I can see why legends such as prettidolli seek to be a F.H.O. year after year.
As I wrote about in my
Enigma of the Two Band H.O. article last September there are those special ladies who take the H.O.ism one step further and play in two entirely different bands! This year Honourable mention goes to none other than Wendy Fitzwilliam who played frontline with Harts on Tuesday Morning in the section Zeal:
Then went on to play in Jean and Dinah on Tribe on Tuesday afternoon!
Wendy not only embodies the true spirit of H.O.ism but she has set a pinnacle that all Carnival Divas can only hope to achieve someday!

But i still laughing at Wendy two step jig. Not a wining bone in she body!
I didn't know she was in Tribe, I saw her on Mon chipping along side us but this is taking it to new heights.
I'm not her biggest fan since the whole Wendy Fitzilliam Boulevard in Diamond Vale thing
Ms. Jumbie is the heels, yuh think she could balance that big headpice and wine down low in dem heels ;)
I didn't know she was in Tribe either until I saw that pic.
she is just an example of having too much money and having nothing to do with it. not a fan.
ahmm my girl was in slippers in TRIBE eh lolol.
And who charging Wendy for a costume?
But AA. She real get-back she figure quick after mekkin baby!
jamette same ting I thinking! lol..
She looks amazing after having a baby!
I went to Trini Carnival for 1st time this year and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Your blog is very informative, I relied on it a lot in my preperations for playing mas with Tribe. Needless to say, I had such a great time that I plan to return for 2008. I'm still coming down from all of it. I'm now a Trini carnival addict!!!
Greetings Sarcy Dear,
YES I saw you channeling yuh inner H.O. in Trini and I loved it oui! I was never a fan of the Fireman, so when I witnessed your version of the Sailor, I must say I was so very proud of you! You really took the Commandments to heart. ;) Be a nonconformist gyul....If yuh gonna do de F.H.O., DO DE DAMN TING SELF RIGHT! Trust....There wasn't another Frontline Sailor or XXX H.O.ing like we were with the boas...LOL @ legendary. Good job Mrs. Prince Namor!
As for Madame Wendy Butterfly who flutters between two bands...Fab F.H.O as always....Manners that hair though. It seems as if a Harts costume can never make one appear badly. She and Tricia both looked great.
Well, congrats to Wendy. She looks greats (yeah prettidolli, the humidity is stress for her hair texture, but say what, she makes it work...).
I saw her at the Diamond Vale Breakfast Party. I said "good morning neighbor," she smiled and said "good morning." I saw her Monday (me wearing "India" turban, and "sexy" boxer brief bottom wrap) and Tuesday in Tribe (didn't see Harts, and I have always said the best time to see Harts is before midday Tuesday, so her glory in Harts was meant to be showcased before midday anyway). She saw me so many times, she might have wondered who was the real celebrity, she or me. Besides the sign of a REAL Carnival H.O. is a personal bodyguard. Needless to say, I am not rolling like that...yet! LOL.
Dougla_1 are you back in the cold yet ;)
Yes Saucy, I am back safe and sound in the cold. I got back to New York yesterday about 7 pm, and I was expecting it to be colder than I experienced. There was a bit of snow on my SUV, but it was slushy so the windshield was easily swiped clean by the wiper blades.
I saw tacariguagirl in the Piarco airport, and she was none too happy to be leaving Trinidad. It would take her several week to get over her "depression." Carnival and playing mas is such a high for her, as most of your readers can endorse.
Eh eh Saucy, but look how yuh respond to Dougs and not me...You well and fresh! :p
You know ... with all de reading of posts, I forget to welcome Saucy to de wonderful world of F.H.O.ism. It is great to see such a beautiful tradition expanding!!! Loved the costume, Saucy!
Eh eh, hi PartyC chile..
Greetings Dear Dolli,
sorry for my tardy response and thanks to you and partyc for your welcome :D
Hey all,
I just saw Wendy on jungle juice in their MONDAY Tribe pics.
Big up. And yes that bod is fab. My last son is 3 and I still struggling. Kudos.
Dougs, mad i missed you in D vale, i had on my green yarn too. I was right by D wall most of the morning. That party was great wasn't it? Except for the girl who fall off de wall?!
My friends and I took pics with her in TRIBE Tuesday night- she was wasted!! But somehow still glam. Have to give it to her- she has a presence, intoxicated or not. And that body, after having a kid? KUDOS.
jamette, I missed you too. I was by D wall for about 1/2 hr. Ah had a mini wining session over there in the crowd, but I was also on the sidewalk for a bit. I was mostly by the speakers near the entrance where the food and drinks area was.
For sure d vale breakfast party is still quite special and a great time. Haters hate because they try to find tickets too late (my contact came through Saturday night!!! Don't lapse tickets are available before Christmas), so it's off to pettivalley for dem (could be a great breakfast party too, but ah not leaving D Vale for awhile ; ))
I left before the wayward accident, but I heard when the music stopped, and there was a call for medical attention. My cousins were maccoing from their house which is only just on the diagonal across the little park, and I was trying to ketch a five (nap).
Aye Dolli! How yuh goin'? I'm here in the midst of a minor post-Carnival depression. All day yesterday, I kept thinking about what I was doing a week ago ... obviously not helping de depression.
Yes, it absolutely reeks, but at least we'll have spring to look forward to...hmph! I am on hey as some of my work has been slightly delayed today, so I'm telling myself enjoy liming online while u can b/c yuh lil' behind is due off cruise control any moment now!
Alas, there's always next year. I'll look for some major lighting though, b/c this Seasonal Affective biz is one big B!
