Raiders Rewind and Remix!!!

For those who are interested in Virgina Caribfest which takes place July 14th to July 15th , costumes are now up on the official website for viewing. One section from the troupe "Fantasy of Culture" is already sold out!

While checking out the costumes I noticed this costume called "Lieutenant" from the troupe "Pure Passion":

Which, to me, looks very much like Island People's "Raiders of the Desert"

And the best part is the price, it costs ONLY $100.00US which includes food and drinks on Caribfest, a goody bag and party discounts. That price is exactly what I personally thought Raiders of the Desert was worth seeing as it is an "outfit" and not a costume (Jean and Dinah also falls in that category as well if you think I am only bashing Island People!!). So for those who played in Raiders you can rewind and remix your costume for Caribfest, hey for the price it cost you might as well use it twice!

Check out the rest of the costumes here.

Oh yes? Good...Cuz yuh know WE does call it like WE see it!..LMAO.
All kindah names fuh de nice people's sections dem. Yuh know how yuh said your mouth has no cover, LOL. Mine neither!

I kinda dig this mas idea b/c I like camo, but I still find it a bit hard to accept in the grand scheme of Carnival. So I dig it, but ONLY very slightly. I actually DETEST the camo bands and such on the Pkwy for NYC Labor Day. It always seems like something is missing...
Not everything has to be a bead and a feather, but these sections seem a tad rough. I don't know if it's the moggels or what. It's like more ghetto fab and less essence-of-festival oriented. I won't even comment on the girl in the middle's design. It's one thing to prep and model for a festival section. It is another to look like yuh channeling Opal Hotta Ball. IMHO, the third girl looks like a video extra. Yuh know the industry calls them video hoes, not H.O.s. However, the price is very manageable and the rewind, remix, recycle concept could be rather attractive for the 2K7 "Raider" IP'ers out there. Hmmmm. I wish them well, but mah lil' jury is out on this one.

So what plans yuh have fuh de holiday? Mek certain yuh have ah ball! ;)

Opal Hotta Ball is de gyal that does sing up in de "Hot Wuk" song. In the very beginning she says, "This is Opal Hotta Ball and rarararrrrrraaaaaaaa." Aiaiaiaiaiiiiiiiiiiii. Yuh know she's Jamaican, so it does sound like Opal Otta Ball..LOL. Ah love it. Dais who she be.

How did I just KNOW the beach was in ur plans? You and de Prince Namor going to tek ah dip in de salt yes! Allyuh have it too nice dong dey..Ah jealous! :P

There was just a big Caribbean bridal expo here. Ah not marrieding, but doh ask me how ah does know these tings yes! Allyuh have ah time and tek 'vantage of de lil' niceties and all de freebies. Mmmmhmm!
