Continuing with the trend of new developments for Carnival 2008, mas bands Trevor Wallace and Associates and 2 Ha Quai have formed a partnership for 2008.
Trevor Wallace and Associates competes as a medium sized band with this year's presentation entitled "On the Catwalk" while new comer 2 Ha Quai, led by Stephanie Johnson, portrayed "A Sailors Tale" in the small band category. Reasons for the merger has been cited as the latter band having had a "rough start" this year consequently 2 Ha Quai will compete under the Trevor Wallace and Associates Banner for 2008.

wow!!!!!! geeze more ugly costumes on the road again!!!! i have to say i saw both trevor wallace and 2 ha quai on de road and to be honest they didnt have the numbers and the costumes looked worser than on the website i know this seems harsh but i think wayne berkley should stick with the individuals and queens!!!!
I think 2HA Quai joining up with TR&A is a good move they are a weak outfit and a boost to TR&A can only help the band,as for the comment above i think the English youth should handle his business in England CORRECTLY before he talk about the Legends of the game.
Mas Assassin: I was now coming to say the same thing. Apparently the person knows not of Mr. Wayne Berkley, a true ICON in TnT mas.
mr neo great one!!! wow i feel like i being stalked, "english youth" nice touch maybe u should research me better before a comment like that. we already done this talk berkley is and was a legend but all legends come to the point where they cant do what they WERE good at i have seeked inspiration from his past costumes many times still dont account for the simple fact the costumes were ugly and fell apart in seconds although that maybe down to his production team its still his name on it!! and what business i gotta sort out in the uk??? i am entitled to my views jus as any other!!!
I agree assasin, this seems like a good move on both parties. Apparently there is a market for Trevor Wallace so why not the merge.

Masquerade, de man is still a legend, he not dead yet. And if you know what he went through, its amazing what he can still do with his limitations. One of the hardest things is to develop a design/artistic language that represents you. To get to that level, takes time, skill and talent. Wayne established his language many years ago and has continued to use it. You see a costume and know immediately that it is a Wayne Barkley without asking. Once you have that language set, it becomes part of you and you cannot get rid of it.
Now remember he's paying tribute to Bob Mackie, so he also has to work within certain guidelines that may limit his artistic license. Wayne's main inspiration is the Art Deco and Art Nouveau Periods with particular emphasis on the artist Erte.
Wayne's talents go beyond carnival and wore many hats not only bandleader and designer.
well assasin or ass whichever you prefer i dont think your track record has any depth to fling shite!!! jit seems you judge alot of people but are yet to display anything of substance!! is it cos i am doing my thing and doing it well in a huge spotlight i mean if i was u i would be vex too but please u can stop following me around waiting for me to post things so u can get ur kicks from trying to bring me down it wont work u jus making me stronger!!! and we will see how deep my contributions to the game are as u said u still a student im doin it and have been doing it for a long time so holla at me when u a student at how old?? finally graduates could have some work for ya!!! :-)

listen i know what your saying i know the full story behind wayne and what he has been thru is just some people think i jus jump on the mas sene yesterday!!! i have been studying mas since i was prob 10 yrs old and have seen alot of waynes work all i was saying really is that when u used to seeing a high standard of mas from him you expect it i mean saucy posted the designs on here and they were flawless!!!! but the finished product didnt reflect that as a man of his track record and maybe thats down to his production team not him as the man can only do so much in the past he has done some of the most stunning individual costumes i have ever seen and probly ever will see but on the flip side joining with 2 ha quai come on you have to admit the costume they churned out were pretty dismal i dunno if it will work personally.

M2K,you know of me but just dont know who you are talking to right now,and yes i am and will always be a student of my culture i learn every day more about MY CULTURE. The fact that in true arrogant English fashion you think you know it all and a huge spotlight shines on you, this m2k will be your downfall, as for your spotlight, if you can call it that, ive been there and done that on both sides of the pond, and i know uk baised designers right now doing it on both sides in the pond but dont talk as much shit as you do.
as for working for you I HAVE ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION BEAT THE M2K COLLECTIVE IN NHC SO KEEP THE JOB BOY!

Ok aside from the personal fights going on we can ALL agree that Wayne Berkley is a legend. I posted the drawings of the costumes for On The Catwalk and given that it was not his job to reproduce the drawings into actual costumes, his designs were fabulous! It is a pity that masquerade2k never had the pleasure of visting Berkley's mas cam in his hey day when he was the "TRIBE" and "Island People" of HIS generation.. the costumes of that time were FABULOUS; I remeber being in awe of his mas year after year as a child growing up.
So though his "style" might seem dated in 2007 (though I think given the right materials etc the costumes could have been much better) you cannot neglect that Berkley has made a huge contribution to Trinidad's Carnival as an innovator which is a claim VERY few of these youthful, modern bandleaders can state.
Afterall, the costumes of Today are either recycled beads and bikinis or coming straight from a factory in China or India!! Sorry to say that does not qualify as true talent ;)

If the NUMBER 1 COSTUME DESIGNER IN THE UK DOES NOT KNOW 50% OF THE HISTORY OF HIS TRADE where does that leave the rest of the fraternity?
