The first band launch of the Caribana Carnival season, "The Magic of the Zodiac" presented by
Calalloo, took place this weekend and launch photos can be seen on
toronto-lime.com. From the photographs I cannot decipher which costumes represents which Zodiac sign,so I am patiently awaiting the website's update as there are 9 sections...but 12 Zodiac signs...hmmm.

The costumes look nice,
When I was a child back in 1979 (the olden days) you used to be able to make a pretty good guess as to what the section was portraying based on what the costumes looked like.
oooh i like that big creamsicle orange one in the middle...but i bet its not virgo...steups virgo is prolly the ugliest section they have :(
BTW, "The Sauce" and "The Source" sound very very similar. lol. The source of all saucy carnival gossip. lemme get back to work eh. Too much procrastinating.
Jaded T.
I'm gonna have to reserve comment until they actually put names to the costumes. I have a feeling that the orange one Nikki Ann likes, which I happen to like as well, is for the Libra sign..then again, who knows.
PS that creamsicle orange one looks like LOTL backline from Tribe this year too...just take away those silver/white feathers...

I attended CalalLoo's launch on Saturday night which was an alright launch for a decent price. Nothing really spectacular. When it was time to portray the costumes, the models walked through the club on a little marked of path and to the back of the club on a small stage.
The costumes were nice, but cheaply made. The beads were falling off all over the club. And to make matters worse most of the models could not dance, therefore ruining the effect of the costume.
I can't recall all the section names or signs, but these are the ones that I do remember.
Blue/Pink - Aquarius
The frontline for this costume is HOT!!!
Blue/Yellow - Dream Catchers (actual section name)
Orange - Taurus
This costume is too busy. Beads all over the place and the headpeice looks like crap.
Peach/White - Gyal Farm (This is Kerwin Dubois Section)
It's a nice costume.
Purple/Green - Can't remember the name, but this is supposedly Shal Marshal's section
White - This is the best section in my personal opinion. The suimsuit for the section is FIRE!!
Pink - This section is very nice. The detailing on the bra and the belt is fantastic.
Blue/Silver - The only thing that is going for this section is the swimsuit. You have to be real fit to wear this costume.
Red Section - It's a nice section, but nothing special.
Overall it was a decent launch, minus the 2 fights. All I have to say is "certain" people cannot handle their liquor therefore ruining it for the rest of us. Calalloo did step up there game from last year.
I can't wait for the next launch. My band, TORONTO REVELLERS!
EXCELLENT recap of the launch TriniBajaninToronto, come back and tell us how Toronto Revellers Launch comes off.
