well good for Tribe!!! Though I must ask..what do you expect when 70% of the costumes were sold out before the maybe 200-300 left were made available to the corbeaus of carnival 2009. Plus they slashed the band size down? I'm only surprised that they didn't sell out last week. Mind you, there are still costumes available if you know the right place to look, or the right person to ask, so fret not to all the refugees looking for landed Tribe status. Spice is looking small but promising, and I find Island People gets knocked about too much on this blog, their costumes are beautiful and innovative this year. PUlse 8 is coming!! So all is not lost

Tribe is "sold out" but they plan on having registration this weekend in the UK. Makes a lot of sense to me....

congrats empress on securing a costume. Some of friends tried to get a costume on tribe, alot of us will be coming to Trinidad for the first time and playing mas also. Approximately 12 med. students here in Toronto tried. We logged on way before the 6:00pm, couldnt find the new masquader site. Can you please tell me what we did wrong.

If anyone can help us, we will greatly appreciate it. Have fun guys.

Not really. That is just to hype up people about the band. If you know the right ppl it's definitely not sold out. Plus, as curlylocz said - sold out but they still have upcoming registration

Well if they are sold out i'm not surprised. But i don't care how desperate I might have been as a newbie I wasn't paying any amount of money to play with night owl i'm sorry i never liked that costume at all.

That is truly unbelievable...Oh well. I didn't really like what they had to be honest. Now Elements is speaking to me. And my $$$ isn't so looks like I'll be making my own costume. :)

Malicious Jade Do GIVE UP..There is Still Hope In "carnival Junction" and 6 months till carnival

Curlylocz said...

Carnival Junction costumes don't come with a TLC code, which defeats the purpose if you really want to play with Tribe the following year. Plus the costumes already cost an arm and a leg. I can only imagine the asking price in a few months. I played with Tribe last year, and it's not that serious. Like Saucy said, it have other bands, and with nicer costumes than Night Owl and Wild Parrot, LOL.

Not surprised at all.

I'm sure there are 'touts' out there who bought costumes on Weds for the sole purpose of resale.

There WILL be costumes available soon! I have no doubts about that.

saucy,
If you dont mind I would truly appreciate if you can investigate for all the newbies to your blog. Alot of the newbies tried to log on to Tribe website and register for a costume on wednesday. Some of us were log on since 5pm, and couldnt find anywhere on their site for first time masquaders to register, all I say was please TLC users.
Can you give us some insight on this problem, so we'll know better and what to do next time.
I know for a matter of fact that when Tribe says they are sold out: I have friends who come in Carnival Sunday night and can purchase a costume that very night. To me its ok. some people dont pick up their costumes.
but in all retrospective, shed some light in this matter please for all the newbies to your blog.
thanks again.

sold out but registration in UK..... well...

Elsa,
I really do not know what type of investigation you would like me to carry out concerning the website issues since I am surely not going to write or call TRIBE on this matter. From the fact that the registration was restricted to online only gave an indication that the costumes remaining were very limited in number.

I can tell you that I logged on to TRIBE's website at 5:58pm and clicked on "my account" on the header bar where the tabs are located for sections etc.

I then put in my TLC code and username and was taken into my account where I saw all my cosutme information and no option to register which I was trying to do since I wanted to see what costumes were sold out.

I logged out of my account and was taken to a registration home page, on that page was the same format to input TLC code and username but underneath that was a link for "new registration" (or something worded like that).

I clicked that link and was taken to a page with a form to fill out; you had to enter a username, password, name, email address, telephone number and address. After you input that information you were then taken to the registration screen where all the costumes were listed, under each photo of the cosutme was a link for FEMALE and MALE; you clicked on the appropriate gender to register for your costume.

Since I wanted to see how fast the sections were selling I kept refreshing the page; Owl was the first to go, followed by Parrot Male, Golden Dove FL,Parrot Female, Blue Tanger, Golden Dove, BOP and Pheasant... it was all over in exactly 9 minutes.

Hi Saucy, Thank you for your response. You stated that in your reply that you did the following

"I then put in my TLC code and username and was taken into my account where I saw all my cosutme information and no option to register which I was trying to do since I wanted to see what costumes were sold out."

But my question is that: You had a TLC Code. But as newbie, we dont have any TLC Code..
There was nothing like new TLC members or anything like that. When I called Tribe Office in Trinidad. Someone told me that there was a computer clitch.
Very strange I might say.

Elsa you did not read this part:

I logged out of my account and was taken to a registration home page, on that page was the same format to input TLC code and username but underneath that was a link for "new registration" (or something worded like that).

YES I logged in with my TLC code but when I realize I could not "register" I logged out and THEN I saw the link for NEW REGISTRATION. It was there, I logged in and I filled out all the information required as a "NEW" masquerader before going on to the second page where I could have purchased a cosutme if I so desired.

There WAS a link for new masqueraders, how long that link stayed up I do not know as soon as I got into the system I kept refreshing the page until I saw all the costumes sold out.

Hi Saucy, thanks again for the reply. I guess you were one of lucky ones who got through. But a group of us at work approximately (8), tried to log on, we kept refreshing the website, but again to no avail, sometime we got a message stating website unavailable. Thanks again clarifying things. I've email Tribe asking a few questions, guess what up to this date no reply. I think their Customer Service dept. needs a little work.
