I am loving the costumes for Rosalind Gabriel's kiddies portrayal of National Pride and one section even requires the girls to wear black knee high boots!
As for the adult's band I was expecting costumes on par with the kiddies, with lovely, towering backpacks and lots of fabric but from the drawings they remind me of Wayne Berkley circa 1995! Further judgment is reserved until I see the actual costumes on the road on Carnival Tuesday.

The kids' costumes are very very beautiful. Now, I don't know if I have been away from Trinidad for too long, but I CANNOT imagine paying $1,700 for a kid's costume!! And imagine I was asking my niece and nephew if they wanted to play mas!!?? I thought kids' costumes were like $400-$500.
There must be kids' bands that are cheaper than this right?
I remember back in the days of Poison when my costume cost $900!! Times have surely changed!!
LOL Chris you have been away way too long!!
There are lots of cheaper bands as well as the School Bands that only play Kiddies Carnival on Carnival Saturday.
If you view the schedule of appearances for Rosalind's band her kids play mas quite a few times before Carnival! Plus her costumes are VERY well done and I think the price includes footwear as well AND they play in Carnival Tuesday as well.

For more kiddies costumes.
My son's costumes were very close to $1000 this year EACH! And they didn't play in Rosalind Gabriel.
There are less expensive costumes, but then most of them look like you paid $400 for them i.e. cheap.
But yes Rosalind costumes are VERY well made and those kids and their parents get every cent they paid.
Once they having any kind of "cultural" event, it seems like her kids/mas of the year are used.
forget the price.....WHAT HAPPENED?.....there seems to be a creative void or black hole of sorts happening between the kiddies' costumes and the adults'.
when I saw that blue one for the boys, my heart jumped. only to find out that there are only two sections for the men. Either a spanish bolero boy (which has been done up the gazoo) or a bell bottom, abstract flag waving men's only option.
Ms. Gabriel believe it or not there are some of us out here who does not need to be naked to be sexy,(subtle pong dey, but meant in good humour)please, please,
AH WANT TO PLAY IN DE BLUE COSTUME.
thank you
(now where is my heart medication?)
Thank you so much for the links Sauce. Seriously, if push come to shove, I'll make costumes for my niece and nephew, 4 and 6 respectively, and take them to jump in town!!
Afro, I don't mind if the costumes look cheap. My lil 6 year old niece don't have to worry about her F.H.Oism just yet!! lololol. So if you have any recommendations I'd be happy to hear them!
By the way, I don't have to rush to register them right? I was thinking I'd register them in December or January. Or have things changed that much that we have to get TLC an ting for the kids too? lololol.
By the way, imagine if in school, at 6 and 7 years old, kids ask each other what bands they are playing in!
A: So Kimmy, what band u jumping with for Sunshine Snacks?
B: Girl, my mummy done pay for my Rosalind costume in FULL!
A: Oh GOSH! I doh like dat band at all! Dey toooo stush. My mummy going to register me in Elemeno mas on Friday.
B: Nah girl, I play with them this year. Set ah wannabes.
A: Nah man. My cousin an dem playin wit elemeno looong time.
B: Steups, when dis recess bell goin and ring boy? I hungry!!
A: Take it easy on de food girl. Yuh hadda fit into yuh costume!

LOL@Chris...

And btw...With Rosalind Gabril, I doh think you could get a costume with her in January. She sells out early...
