Get Fit With Island People Mas

Island People Mas is back with their fitness sessions for Carnival 2009 and they have even thrown in some "incentives" as well, such as free fete tickets, which I think is a pretty cool idea!

Dear IP Masquerader,

It is finally here!!!!! Carnival 2009 AND 'Fit To Play'!!!!

For the next six weeks ISLANDpeople Mas will be doing its part in getting all masqueraders ready for the road. Beginning this Saturday and together with qualified professional trainers, we will be taking you through the paces so you look and feel ready for the road.

In the upcoming sessions, three of the Saturdays we will be enhancing the experience by adding Spin with Aerobics..... but our instructors have asked that you be kept in suspense as they could have this on any of the days we gather.

Along with our sponsors each we will reward participants for their efforts. Some of these benefits include: tickets to Girl Power, Insomnia, Dawn, Brian Lara, Soca Monarch and much more, where one of the Saturdays (not necessarily the last session) one lucky winner will have his or her balance of payment for their Heaven on Earth costume completely waived.

Remember the fun begins this Saturday 10th January at the bottom of Lady Chancellor Hill and the music truck leaves with all fitness enthusiasts at 4:00 p.m. sharp.

See you there and remember, make your .....Heaven on Earth

ISLANDpeople Mas

The fun has just begun!

My band sould do that! All bands should do that! I'm soooo pisted, I'm sure I,ll stick to this exercising crap if I was doing something like this. Hey! Maybe I can still go, there is not where in the letter stating that this was for IP masqueraders only. LOL.

It is a fantastic idea kudos to IP, however I don't feel that TRIBE should do something because IP did it,the TRIBE brand is innovative in its own right and certainly does not copycat.

Maybe so carnivalbaby, but I doh c TRIBE doin nutten super special for me as a masquerader in their band (other dan ridiculously hot costumes!!). Well I guess only time will tell- maybe this whole downsizing the band thing and keeping the band moving might actaully work out. I'm just saying that they could do something a lil extra for their masqueraders, not necessarily the same thing IP is doing

I'm just mad that I'm not there to take advantage of this.

And I don't think that "copying" something that clearly is a good idea and adds value to the masquarader should NOT be done just because another band did it first. There's ALWAYS going to be someone that did it first.

What happen if your costume is paid in full?

Then you not so lucky? lol

this is a good idea as far as i see it. if people stick to it, they should see results. the only issue i have is i hope people were not waiting until IP offered this in order to get in shape. this is something they should have been doing on their own as well...

tribe could offer it as a courtesy, it would just be another great perk added to all of the others we Tribers get on the norm. :)

I think this is a wonderful idea. However, I will take Tribe and their wonderful costumes and customer service any day! LOL. I know I will appreciate it when it comes time to go to the mas camp & pick up my costume, I won't be crying or having to go back after Insomnia to get anything. Even when Tribe messes up, they treat you well and compensate their masqueraders!

A B for teh effort for IP...
I guess you are trying.. and key word i TRYING to come on par with TRIBE. But a long rod you guys have again...

is this only open for IP masqueraders?

A B for effort ? It was a great idea so just give IP their due. If it was Tribe doing it then the idea would have been the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I agree with Salsaman, just give credit where it is due .... and enjoy the opportunity to exercise for FREE out in the open with some music. Get in the Carnival vibe and socialize with others. IMHO, it is as innocent and as simple as that :-)
and FYI, this is not the first year that they are doing this. I don't rememeber if this happened in their inaugural year, but they have definitely had 'Fit to Play' for the past two years...
I am also pretty sure anyone can exercise with the truck; how they go know? I do not imagine them checking ID etc. How much fun would that be? (but i eh know, i doh work there):-)
