Thank you to the masquerader who just sent me Island People's line up along with a brief review of collection and photos of the goody bag.. ..an exercise mat? WOW!:
I just came from Island People's collection and here is the official order of the band along with some pics of the goodie bag and its contents. The female goodie bag has an added exercise mat complete with IP logo :)
They really did a WONDERFUL job this year and my costume looks EXACTLY like the prototype. The entire process was also very smooth (made easy by the fact that there were only a handful of us there this morning). The staff was very courteous and professional and we were in and out in less than 15mins.
Kudos to the Island People team and I cannot wait for Monday & Tuesday (rain, rain go away...come again some other day lol)

Perhaps this has been addressed already, but which bands are equipping their masqueraders with Carnival Monday wear??
d krewe camille, is one that i know is giving monday wear.. .and not just a t shirt and stuff, but an actual costume made of a wrap, bead chains, standard (yeah i know right)
so wait...does that mean IP not at least givin some shorts this year?? :-/
IP gave hot shorts for Monday as usual, but it's in the actual costume box, not the goody bag. The guys got a t-shirt that matches their section for Monday as well.
I've played with IP 3 times and this is the first time I have NO COMPLAINTS about any aspect of my costume or collection. In addition to the fast, courteous service, after thoroughly checking out and trying on MY COSTUME, I realize that the IP team did take into consideration the past complaints/suggestions of their masqueraders:
1) The bra piece is completely adjustable, as in the female has total control over how it looks and fits on her. The option is there to loop the straps into place so u can wear ur bra piece criss-crossed or like a traditional bra (whichever way provides more support/cleavage :). I think this is a simple yet effective detail because no woman wants to feel like her costume (particularly her bra) doesn't fit her properly.
2) The bottom pieces are also completely adjustable. There is no velcro waistband, just the cords to tie both pieces (back & front) together. That should come in handy for the people who are collecting kinda late and don't have time to do waistband adjustments.
3) REAL ACCESSORIES!!! I dunno if it's just my section, but I have accessories to burn.
4) The quality of the costumes is great. I saw 3 of the 4 sections being collected today and ALL three (male & female) looked exactly as advertised. I know in 2K7 there was an issue with Sirocco Winds being more orange than gold as was advertised. If what I saw today holds true of all the sections, I don't think there will be any disappointed masqueraders. We'll have to wait and see tho because today was just day one and nothing could possibly "run out" on the first day. I'm looking forward to feedback from the other IP masqueraders.
I must say nuff props to IP! I think there are a few things TRIBE could learn from IP to improve customer satisfaction.
Thanks everyone! Your posts were most helpful. This is my 4th year with IP. I have yet to touch down in Trini, so I don't know what to expect re: my costume, but after reading everyone's posts, I'm anxious to reach! Aye!!!
I'm playing DREAMS frontline, and I cyah wait to see meh costume. Faddah, please let it be all that I imagined it to be!! :0)

Well I would feel remiss if I didn't post my comments. The registration process was fairly smooth. The bra is better for adjustability and coverage. I was, however, not impressed with the goody bag this year. There was not much in it at all compared to last year where I got both a IP bag and a B-mobile bag, an IP umbrella, organizer, mouse pad, and other things. I also liked the fact that I received my costume in a plastic container last year. After all I receive last year, I couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed at the lack of items in the goody bag.
I'm happy to see that IP seems to have improved their customer service. After my experience in 2007 I vowed NEVER AGAIN (well not any time soon) will IP see my money b/c my experience was horrible. I hope they keep it up:)
WOW TriniZeta, I didn't know all that was in the goody bag last year!!! Well as the latest post states, more stuff is on the way. Too bad for us who collected yesterday I guess, but who knows, we might still get some extras.

Yeah QueenBea. I played with IP in 2006 and again in 2007. Loved my costume both years BUT the service, especially in 2007 with costume collection, goodie bag distribution, security mess, general band insanity, turned me off of them!!! And to top it off I had convinced a couple friends who had awful experiences in 2006 with IP to play again in 2007...took a long time to live down dat debacle.
It is very good that they have improved and I do hope that it's a continuing upward trend.
i must say that i am a little surprised to the placement of Carnival...............any thoughts bloggers
In the masquerader Guidebook there are thumbnails of the sections accompanying the order and to me, it flows very nicely. You actually get an idea of how the transition from section to section will look.
Maybe Carnival ended up in the back because its vibrant colours are a great intro to the solid red of LOVE (which may have been relegated to the back due to poor feedback).
Or maybe the powers that be at IP just wanted the last images in the judges' minds to be colour, colour and more colour :D...a kinda save the best for last something lol.

DQ it is ironic you say this considering for the last four years Tribe has gotten it right and most people were saying quite the opposite. I am happy that IP seems to be getting they act together, but they still have a couple of years to go before mas players can be 100% sure that what they pay for in IP is what they will get.

my friend just called me and she said that it took her 18mins flat to walk in and walk out of IP.....everything fit right and accessories ahhhplenty......the goody bag was good enough.....service with ah smile.........her only trouble now is to find a boots in POS LOL
i hope this remains the same until i amm able to collect my costume.

I am happy to see that IP has improved drastically compared to the disgusting service and quality I received in 2007. Even though they have improved, I am not prepared to pledge any of my mas money to them.
Then again - the way Tribe treating me, I might be looking for another band outside of the big two.
