Fresh after Carnival one of my friends is clicking through the party galleries on Triniscene, comes upon a photograph of her boyfriend executing what looks like a precariously perched wine atop a drinks cooler at a fete and her blood starts to boil! Suffice to say this causes a heated argument and subsequent rift between them as the boyfriend tries to explain that the girl just “surprised” him with a wine out of the blue and that his head was not positioned to look at her posterior, as it appeared in the photo, but he was really trying to make an escape while looking for his phone to send her (the girlfriend) a text! Apart from the fact that his phone could clearly be seen in the pocket on the OTHER side of the pants ,and his excuse was the lamest ever, I was both bemused and perplexed as to why my friend got SO angry at her boyfriend that it led to a Facebook break up!
“Because we had a NO WINING rule” she explains, “a what?” I asked, “A rule that we were not going to wine on any other people for Carnival, and he told me he did not wine on anyone at that fete!!” I must also add that this fete took place before my girl friend came into the country as her boyfriend came for Carnival a few days ahead of her. And while I thought that the whole incident seemed innocent enough, I mean it IS Carnival after all, a time where some couples are excused to take a wine on any bumsee, other ladies came forward with photographic evidence of their significant others taking a wine on women for Carnival and voiced their support that a wine is not always “just a wine”!
One person I know intimated to me that a friend of his got into some serious trouble for wining on other women in his section with the girlfriend present; apparently the girlfriend got jealous! Another friend noticed that all the photos of her boyfriend for Carnival showed him taking a wine on the SAME girl at various times throughout the day, after he said he didn’t really dance with anyone! Oh and the most proactive action came when this one girl left the band she was in, trekked to another band to look for her boyfriend caught him wining on some other woman, and took him out of that situation immediately; she was not amused! The fallout of post Carnival wining with persons other than the significant other lead to some vexation I tell you!
To me the whole “rule” thing is a bit much, I would think that there would be a mutual understanding between the couple of what they both expect and would accept of the other and their behavior during Carnival that expert rules are not even needed. However clearly there are those individuals that either use Carnival as an excuse to behave as they would not normally do, get caught up in the “spirit of the season”, take advantage of the willing wines offered and just see it as a free pass to wine on anyone on that day! Not to mention that for “foreigners’ not used to the whole concept of wining on other people during Carnival the whole act can be both confusing and liberating at the same time!
I have never had a falling out over taking a wine on someone else for Carnival. I myself do not allow any random stranger to come and “wine up on me just so” and I also have parameters on the kind of wine I will allow someone who is NOT my husband to indulge in. On the flip side, my other half is not the type of person to wine wantonly on any woman that passes by during Carnival either, though I have seen photos of him taking a small wine on other women during Carnival and was not upset, I mean it IS Carnival I would be worried if he were not interested at all! At the end of it all my friend did make back up with her boyfriend, but I do know that every time she sees that photo it annoys the HELL out of her!
So, where does the culture of “freeing up” for Carnival leave a couple and their rules? Are rules really necessary and how flexible should they be? I mean, is it okay to wine on someone else if the significant other is present? Or, how about if the wine is between your partner and a mutual friend, is it OK to wine on friends? In the rules are the number of times, length and grades of wines acceptable established? As a matter of fact how many of YOU have wining rules and were there any falling outs over wining on other people this Carnival?
It is interesting to me to get other’s take on this, because I was surprised at the support for the “no wining rule” though the general consensus was that our friend did go a bit overboard by breaking up with her boyfriend over the photo of him wining on someone else during a fete; it is not as if she caught him cheating after all, it was JUST a wine during Carnival, ent?

I am conflicted about your story. On the one hand, your friend did exactly what I recommend: talk to your partner beforehand about type of behavior is acceptable. On the other hand, their "no wining rule" is a bit extreme. It is carnival and there is liquor involved. As long as my man knows where his bread is buttered, what is the problem with having a wine??? I think the boyfriend was a bit dishonest with his girl, and should have put his foot down beforehand over the no wining rule.
I am like you Saucy, you can't allow any strange man to come up and wine on you any old way, in fact I lean towards keeping the wining to men that I know already, although sometimes you just can't stop the drunken reveller that just happens upon your bamseee! In those situations, I have never had a problem wining for a minute and tapping the man on the leg, I have NEVER had a man refuse to stop wining on me when I ask him politely not to, he just moves onto another!
Carnival is carnival: I want to have fun and I want my man to have fun, but the wining should remain innocent: not the same girl over and over throughout the day (unless we know her mutually and I trust her like that) and no "stink" wines where intercourse is practically simulated on the road. LOL. Have fun, but respect that I exist somewhere, and we should be fine! The same goes for fetes.
I think the one rule that your friend needs to institute is no pics! Have your fun and I'll have mine, but stay away from the cameras, if either you or he can't stay sober enough to institute that policy, then there are other issues, don't you think? LOL
I basically agree with HQ.
Luckily, I don't have that problem because my husband is foreign and ins't really into dancing or Carnival. I can barely get him to dance with me at a wedding or any social event, much less in a Carnival fete! So I know he's not going to be wining on any random women. I wouldn't mind one bit if he took a little dance with a friend of mine though.
And as for me dancing with other men, his theory is once I'm dancing with somebody else, I'm not harassing him to dance with me and he's free to continue enjoying his drink!
Some women just take it too far though. The thing about wining on the same woman all day is a bit much, but a no wining rule? Nah! When you make something forbidden, it becomes even more desireable.
NO WINEING RULE FOR CARNIVAL!
HA HA HO HO HEHE OOHH GOORRSSHH.
you would think its the one time of the year that rule would not apply not reinforced.
while all wine is not just a wine, as we all know and can see when it develops into more i think 95% of the time nothing comes out of it and if you know and trust your partner a wine in the heat of carnival can only be just a wine...
I agree with Mas Assassin....a wine is just a wine for carnival. My guy and I played in the same band but not together,,, and ever so often i bounce him up bussin a lil small wine and vice-versa and it was no big deal.
Ah mean oh gosh,,,doh over do it, but at the same time,,,lets be reaslistic here....you cannot expect a man to play mas with tonnes of sexy ladies every which way and not expect him to take a lil wine and the same applies for women...if a man (your friend or otherwise) come and wine on you, is totally up to the woman to wine back ( i know i do, i pay too much money to stand up whole day!)....
trust is a serious thing and once you have that...this thing could be very easy yuh know...
This no wine rule, i would have to say is over the top.. let's not be niaive..I can't understand how u will tell a man he CAH wine for carnival...he either hadda be a monk or the messiah to have that much discipline....I would love to meet the man that obliges to this rule and to the woman that enforces it...kudos and good luck to you!
Well this story hits very close to home for me. Not because me the bf had a no wining rule for carnival eh (I think that's ridiculous).
Me and him played in two diff bands..me in TRIBE, him in IP. So i did done already know he go like heself..but the important thing is what i doh know eh go hurt me right? Well I know I was being a bit unfair, but for d whole carnival monday and tues, he eh check for me once! Not even for a few mins! His excuse was that the two bands were always too far apart.
Ok cool..so once I get over that by like late Ash Wed so, well what do u know...email circulating with him winin on some fat ting (no offense to the big girls out there). Now he's saying it was all on wildness (which I believe), but still..i know if it was me he would've been pissed. Cuz say what he want, he wouldda get real therapy from his friends over a pic of me winin on some man (fat or not).
Anyways..fast forward to a couple weeks after carnival. My dad brings home this parade of the band dvd and what do u know..cut to IP and there's my bf again jammin on a girl. Honestly, I eh dig too much of a horrors when i see him eh..but oh gosh man..every camera so? LOL!!
Well ah give him some fatigue for that for a couple mins, but that was it. All in all, I wasn't too upset eh...is jus that when u think about how these men does go LOOKING for d wine lol. Girls does basically be on the receiving end nah.
But..I real wine my ass in TRIBE but I doh wanna know what he was doin in IP. Please..ah doh wanna c no more pics dammit! LOL
well, my husband and I have a no wining rule. As a matter of fact it's not a rule we just know, I don't wine on anyone but him and he does the same. Before I was married I never felt the need to wine on anyone, I like to dance by myself if a wine took place ok. When I met my husband he would always say he love the way I wine. My husband doesn't need to wine with anyone else, I'm his saucy wow, destra, fayeann and shakira so there's no reason for him to want to wine on anyone else. I think putting a rule in place can only cause problems because with rules there are clauses, exception to rules, what ifs...etc. but if you just say hey, we are each others wining partners and that's it, then that should be it!
Never had a rule like this. Never would have a rule like this. Guess all couples different so i gonna stop laughing at those with this rule now.
Ah wine is just a wine most of d time.......BUT......there are instances where mischief and manipulation is involved.......dat fella should have just told d trute....or maybe he did and she just overreacting and he lucky tuh get d rid of she. It does really have time wey mankind doesnt be looing tuh wine on nobody and dem woman does be wilding out and just come outta noway and ambush yuh wit dey bamsey.
and anyways- whats a "facebook" break up. Guess thats something people with wining rules do. A little maturity please people
No such rules exists for my husband and I. For his first carnival he was trying to video tape without being obvious and I came right out and told him, "listen, there are beautiful, sexy women alllll over for the next couple of days....you might as well video tape to your heart's content and stop trying to act as if you aren't". Fact is, he didn't play mas the first year and we weren't together the entire time so I gave him the ok to enjoy himself. He was so shocked that people were actually approaching him that at the everytime he saw me he was like a child with candy because according to him, "K, all these women are just whining on me". By his second year he was pretty much broken in and couldn't be bothered with anyone else but me. I think during carnival, if you have a good man who is in it for pure fun and enjoyment, you should have nothing to worry about. So what if he takes a whine here and there. It's carnival!!!
when i go to fetes and things i hope my husband will wine with other people coz that gives me a chance to! wining with the same man all night gets a little boring, lol.
i have no problem with him doing what he wants at carnival (and when he gets drunk he tends to be wining on every girl in the band) coz i have trust in him. we can both enjoy our wines with other people and we both know when it ends we're going home with each other!
as he is jamaican, not exactly brought up on a diet of fetes and mas, i just want him to enjoy himself at carnival, and that involves wining!
A no winning rule for carnival? Dat is de biggest piece of crap I have ever heard off! The person that first invented that rule must have been insecure and had a reason to worry, furthermore the couples that continue to follow it are just as nuts (in my humble opinion)..jeeze Carnival is wine!
For couples..like Keitrini said the man and woman should be each others Destra, Machel etc nothing better (to me) than to see a couple gettin on bad and enjoying each other. That is what it all about. An if either a random person or a friend of either (or both) members of the relationship come for a wine...oh gosh give it nah den keep it moving.
For singles..nothing wrong in taking a wine, even ah lil dutty wine now and then but of course you as the single have to know when to stop and ensure that you do not disrespect the other half of the couple. Alchohol is not an excuse to disrespect yourself or another person.
My experience...I roll in a rather large group for carnival consisting of both singles and couples, many of these people I have known for more than half my life, and I winnin on all of them. Single, couple eh matter I winnin on all and all winnin on me. In my group there never seems to be an issue with the couples as far as who winnin on who or how long dey winning or anything like that (even if they winning outside the group). As for pictures ..nah we have video and the best fun is getting together to screen the pictures and video and have a laugh at the antics. There is no room for question or even the need for secrets its all out in the open. BTW what is the issue with wining on one person all day or most of the day or being seen at varied times with the same person...perhaps that wine is sweet lol. If they see each other after carnival then there may be an issue but folks remember that in many cases the same people you wine and jam up on on Carnival Tuesday does pass yuh straight on Ash Wed.
Carnival is a time to have fun with your friends and your family and when you start complicating it with a no winning rule or rules about the length or type of wine then things hard. Everyone should have a built in respect limit and simply stick with it. Sometimes I think already jealous significant others simply use carnival as an excuse to clamp down on the other...nonsense.
No wining rule is just nonsense, especially at Carnival. You can't really expect ur man to be around so many beautiful women and not expect him to tek a little wine (I do see where the other girl was coming from seeing her man wining up on the SAME girl in various pictures...Id probably look at that a little sideways too). Sometimes people can get a little out of hand so I can understand in that instance...if they actin like they r having sex on the dance floor, on the road, whereva. I for one, feel uncomfortable wining on anyone attached especially if I KNOW their significant other is in the same room, its just uncomfortable for me personally even if we are all friends. It's just innocent so maybe I'll take a small wine and then he can be on his way, please don't linger too long on my Heavy T Bumpa when your woman is right THERE lol.
I agree... Carnival is time to free up. Wine on who you want! But one thing I see Trini people doing (an is Trinis alone who do it) is wine on other people in they man presence! If you man is dere, is he yuh should be wining wit! Unless all of all yuh liming together and is one big wining vibes! But seeing ah man, he woman stand up on de side and he jamming ah nex ting to me is disrespectful. What de eyes ent see dont burn de heart. Carnival is jamishness but still have some respect.
That said, I will wine on everybody, I dont discriminate. I not stoosh in Carnival. Those I ent know, once they dont come an wine on me in a disrespectful way an want to cock me up and dig in me bambam, I will give dem a small wine (half a song). If I digging you, yuh could stay behind for de whole day!!!
CityChick...u got me CRYING at my desk! hahah. LMAO @ "an want to cock me up and dig in me bambam".
I'm sorry but this sounds like the woman has major insecurity issues and unfortunately the man has to suffer for that. I see nothing wrong with a man winning with women for carnival...ITS JUST A DANCE! I think people like her needs to be single during this time of the year, because that rule makes no damn sense! A man will only tell you what you want to hear. Have common sense and know that man will play de ass for carnival! I am not talking about having sex with other women, because I will NEVER tolerate that, but a dance is a dance. Get over it! Not worth breaking off a relationship!
Carnival is the time to free up, have fun and WINE... so if you wanna keep your man to yourself, don't play mas together or don't play mas at all!
"Wine and keep it moving" is a year round rule for me and my SO. When you ready to grind pass your arse HOME!!
But even with that rule, I know the feeling of running through some pictures and spotting your man on some random woman bambam - belly flip/increase heart rate/hot flash, but then you breathe and release. LMAO This year my SO was caught in a picture at a fete, I was standing RIGHT there so I know what the scene was, but it still annoyed me seeing the picture. I think the picture evidence is the real problem.
Wining with one woman all day is a COMPLETE NO NO and grounds for a buss head. I am the only one that you should be giving that much attention too lol
HAHAHAHAHA....i bawlin out at city chick...my boss watchin me like "brrrrrr?"..but anyway....you cant get aways from the pics....for carnival...they everywhere...you go be duckin one and facing another one....daz how it is...
Well, I am so enjoying reading the comments and laughing at my desk. Saucy...EXCELLENT POST!! My two cents:
Well, what it all boils down to is R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Carnival for me is about having fun, pure release and total enjoyment.
That being said...IF i see my man in a picture like what saucy has posted on today's blog and de woman is not me...I will be VEX! That right there is TOO much. I'm not cool with that at all. YES, my man could wine and free up! I have no problems with my girlfriends winin on my man or him winin on his female friends, all part of the fun and freein up. I want to be able to wine too with him and my other friends. Because we LOVE each other, we would both know our limits..drunk or no drunk.. what is acceptable and what is just not cool. WININ ON ONE WOMAN WHOLE DAY AND IT AIN ME IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot be with a man that has a problem with me being MYSELF...if yuh meet me winin with my friends..dont try and change me. I've never been one to simulate sex on the road anywayz..so he ain have to worry about me straddlin no man...NOT even him...on de road!
And, me personally, I don't feel comfortable winin on other people's man, unless its like a group wine and I know the guy and his woman really well and they know it's all fun and enjoyment and nothing more behind it.
I don't like people winin on me that I don't know....HENCE the reason I soooo enjoyed having my kiskadee tail...all wine was from de front, and I could see who comin and I could choose who i want to wine with. It had a few jacka$$$es that still attempted to crush my tail to wine on me...but I gave dem a small wine anyway lol
And if a woman decide she want to jump on and straddle my man, which many women get brave and do on their own...my man better have de SENSE to politely put her ass down, with a smile on his face...
AND...if i see any pics of my man winin on a woman, no problem...it jus BETTER NOT BE like what Saucy posted on her blog this morning or else...WE DONE!! SIMPLE
DeRedting expresses exactly how I feel about the "no wine" chain up. Oh gorm, allyuh free up nah. Give each other space. My wife (ex) was a Poison girl. Dais how I met her, and I loved to see her free up herself. It's all about self respect and self control. If she didn't have these qualities I would not have been attracted to her.
One of the pleasures for me, before I decided to play mas, was roaming the streets of Port of Spain from Downtown to the Savannah, Aripita Avenue to St James, soaking up the extraordinary culture of this Carnival spectacle, for 5 years. I would be gone for hours, I was never "worried" that I would catch her is some kind of lewdness that the Bomb would be more than eager to center fold. She is and was free to wine with strangers, friends, and ex lovers all she pleased. After all, it was me she was giving the real thing in the end.
A few words of caution: this year the murder (thankfully the tragic rate was only two for Carnival related events, 2k10) of a foreigner was due to the misinterpretation of an "excessive wine." I had a situation several years ago. The boyfriend (and here "boy" applies) of a friend of mine flared up with me because he observed she was wining up on me too happily. The truth she was genuinely happy to see me after my many years of absence from Trinidad.
The final note is a wine is just a wine until someone gets pregnant! Talk to the expert obsessive winers, they know!!! lol
bravo Dougla_1 VERY WELL SAID!
me and my partner have the 10 seconds rule, we could dance with anyone we choose for 10 seconds, and all day chicks trying to dance with him and I don't even want to talk about me, but he still didn't dance with anyone, a girl came and ask me to dance with him and I told her go ahead, she thought I told her set up shop, so after a few minutes I had to run her like a dog! I didn't want nobody dancing with me to much because of my naked attire and I don't want them messing up my costume, so people I know and my babes but that's it...
lmao @ his excuse...
my personal take on this is that wining on other ppl other than your s.o. for carnival shouldn't be a big deal. if the couple agreed not to then i can see where one party would get upset if he/she broke the rule. but i don't think there should even be a rule...limits yes, but a rule that they can't dance w/ anyone else period is obsurd. i would hope people partake in carnival to free up and have a good time...not to stalk their s.o. and make sure they're not wining on anyone else every minute. lol...
If your man is a DOG then you have a problem in that relationship. Period. Carnival or no carnival.
Otherwise I agree with dougla_1 , free up nah man.
Rules for carnival?! Carnival don't have rules thus the meaning of the word, carnival= carnal.
All that is required of my man is that he be my man-purse a.k.a headpiece holder and drinks-getter ;) when I REALLY need him. That's all.
Some women are just too uptight when it comes to this wining thing and carnival. As long as your man is not screwing another, as in the 'literal' sense, you just enjoy yuhself, take ah wine on a man or 20.
Why break up over that? Steups. She good yes. I here looking for ah man and she going around tossing them out de window like holey underwear. Steups.
See what happens when the winee takes the wine for more than what it is and starts to reminisce about the winer and then takes matters into his/her own hands to find said winer...
Hahahahahahaha oh gosh ah weak
The 'No Wine' rule is silly and unrealistic.
10 seconds? Might as well not wine at all then! That eh even the chorus or opening bars of Tusty!! Steups.
Socaholic the two instances have nothing to do with the other!!
And I think even though some of you do not have "rules" you do have a "wining etiquette" that if you sit down and think about is has limitations of what you will accept from your S/O!!!
LMAO @FCUK and "tossing out the window like holey underwear". Oh gosh! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
LMAO!!!! wow a wining rule! i am very happy i don't have to deal wit that nonsense.... carnival is all about freeing up yuhself and having a time! stop all the jealousy and let the man enjoy himself! and like fayeann say "who don't like me could bite me!"
Saucy I know that... but if ah wine is just ah wine then what's there to really talk about.
Everybody big and have sense... well they supposed too. So if your man doesn't know when he's crossed the line then something wrong with him and you.
You (and not you personally) really expect the man to say
"babes forgive meh, ah really didn't want to wine but Machel say find ah gyal and ah had to obey"
Jeezan ages...
Well a wine may just be a wine for you but some women are totally disrespectful and DO cross the line, men too by that same token!I don't know about you but I would be highly annoyed if someone take a wine and feel that is freedom to come and wine again... and again.. and again!
*Wining etiquette - KIM.. KEEP IT MOVING and respect couples when you understand that they are together man...
I agree Saucy...I know that there are some men I simply won't wine with because they make me feel "dirty", if you know what I mean- LOL. Not every wine is just a wine, some people are truly inappropriate...
I understand that avoiding cameras during carnival is difficult, but not impossible...I'm more talking about Triniscene & TJJ etc. where the photographer rolls up on you with a huge digital camera! LOL
LMAO @ Fcuk's "holey underwear".
But she wasn't at the fete... and in that case its up to the man to set the tone.
Her legs didn't embrace his waist juss so. lol
But if the significant other giving them a wine each time they come back... why would they stop coming?
And if you standing up right next to him how on earth she getting in between the two of allyuh?
Like I said everybody big and have sense...
I want to know how many times before a wine commences does the convo of 'I have a man or I have a woman' comes up?
Some people naturally just love to rock back, fling leg, handstand, fall on de chests and do all kinda thing on the streets of POS. Unless people start walking with signs on their backs "I HAVE A MAN I HAVE A WOMAN SO I CAN'T DUTTY WINE WITH YUH, JUST TAKE AH SMALL JOOK AND MOVE ON."
Trust me, I was at a fete dancing with my b/f at the time and a woman, who he knew and had taken a wine on him earlier, came back and proceeds to wine on him while WE dancing!!!! How? cause the woman DISRESPECTFUL,BOLD FACE and TRIFLING! That is how lol.
Fcuk there are some people who don't care the man could be pulling away, wedding ring on finger and they will STILL wine on him :D
Well she's the exception to the rule and was probably trying to get a rise out of you.
Mr. S/O would have had to handle that situation pronto and let her know what time of day it is.
Ok fine, I'm sorry ok! Lol
Yea, I do know what you mean, sadly, I've witnessed many of those things.
Dem ouman Tusty!!!
First of all, in most bands the men are limited. So, it's not far fetched that a woman will come jam on your man. HOWEVER, I will not initiate takin' ah wine on a man I don't know because I don't want no buss head. If a man wants to wine on me and LOOKS OF AGE, then fine. But like Citychick said, if yuh wine is outta line and yuh tryin' to impregnate me from behind, time to move on. If I take ah wine on a man I know and his woman is there, I will wine on him backway, meaning his bamsee against mine. Some women don't mind if you wine on their men, but there are some who are extremely thin skinned and I haven't had a fight since the fifth grade, so I avoid the drama. There's a Trini girl I know who's husband is American and has a BIG problem with men wining on his women. He's like, that's his woman and he don't want just anybody winin' on his wife. But we changed his way of thinking last year when me and my two friends wined on his ass till he was weak, LOL. I free up for carnival, but carnival done come Ash Wednesday and people have to resume their lives.
Ok, I know about this situation all too well, for it happened this year. After my boyfriend rushed me out of Trinidad before Carnival to go up to the US because of spipulations regarding my greencard (mind you this wouldn't have gone in effect for about another 2 weeks), I later came across SEVERAL photographs of him on Facebook wining on different women Carnival Monday. I WAS PISSED!!!! not only because I felt as if he sent me away so he could enjoy himself, but because on that very day I recieved a text from him saying," I'm on the truck working, and I'm so tired baby, I've been up since 5 this morning!" He works with Islandpeople and I know leading up to those days he's been so worn out from working, so I didn't think anything of it...but when I saw those pics with him lifting his shirt, looking high as ah kite and wining on women, my blood started to boil, and I was more than ready to kick his ass to the curb! And when I confronted him about the pics he explained that the only time he came off the truck was to get a drink and to pee and while doing that he can't help if some drunk masquerader comes up to him and wines on him. He also said if he wines on anyone is because of his job....HIS JOB!! Are you f#$@ing kidding me!!! I felt very disrespected...don't get me wrong I don't mind you taking a wine on friend, but not on no random stranger and worst yet, making me feel like you're working so hard. I just know if the shoe was on the other foot he would have had a fit.
"Some people naturally just love to rock back, fling leg, handstand, fall on de chests and do all kinda thing on the streets of POS" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...this is hilarious!!
Put a woman in front and a man behind, bet yuh life deh bound to wine. Another carnival rule you must follow. Well if it’s just inappropriate wining, what about all the women wining down with each other? I see plenty ah dat too. Nobody commenting about dat! Men okay with dat?? Carnival is a liberating time for me. I can tell if a man lock on to a woman. I would certainly respect that situation and refrain from taking a small wine. I even buss a wine on one of the ministers in my section. No harm intended. There were plenty of folks having a good time on the road. It was all a part of a memorable experience for me. I met folks on Monday, no big conversation and we bounce up again Tuesday we jam down it little and that was it. No disrespect to them or more so no disrespect to myself. I doh want nobody number and I eh looking for no husband. I have one already and he see all the photos (at least the ones I didn’t delete)! No to the ‘no wining rule’ for me! Might as well stay meh foot in Texas and go to a rodeo!
Yes, jamishness does have it's limits. Please, people let's not make the festival in the streets be a big melee of who jook (wild wine) the s/o too inappropriate. We are bigger than that, I hope ;) Akon had to appologize, but wha was that young girl doing there skin up like the crab nebula??!!!!
Oh dear...
Hahaha ... Loved this post. 'Cause I certainly wine up, and not necessarily with my hubby! LOL! Thanks God, we have no rules! ... But I eh lying if I saw him with the same girl, hmmm then we might have a problem!
Like I always tell friends, there are just too many women during carnival for me to get mad when my husband really can't really concentrate on any ONE for more than 10 seconds!
Same goes for me! LOL!
I don't think Akon was 'wining'. That was a barbaric display of indecency! Even jamishness at its worst does not equal that. I still say free up for carnival!
Wha de arse I readin? Rules???? Man carnival is no rules!!! If you trust yuh man/woman you good. I understand you dont wanna see your SO with he/she leg skin out and someone winin in dey face but everything else is fair game!!!I guess my name is bacchanal and I dont business about trivial things like that. If you winin up in bed or otherwise for your SO whole year give him/her some room to breath come carnival time. A lil space will make the heart grow fonder...I mean for god sakes if the president pull me to wine between he and he wife c2k6 and dem still goin strong after de 3 of we wine low..some people could take a lesson from dem!!!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... o gosh i know dis post woulda give me some serious laughs....
BCM820...so did yall kiss and make up? Dais de ting...my problem is not that he was winin...but why he make it seem like he was wukin whole day dead out and tired...esp since he run yuh out de country hahahahaha ooo lawd hahahahaha
he probably was wukin whole day...wukin he waisline!
DQ, I wonder if your man was winning on me? Lol!!!!!!!
lol..how ironic you had this post Saucy. I get in trouble for JUST that this carnival. I take a small wine on a friend (from behind) for all of two seconds (well not really maybe 1/2 a minute)when he was with the woman. I then left with my friend to enjoy the rest of d fete. In my opionion it's Carnival n it's just a wine...lighten up ladies...but I later got the impression that she didn't think so at all and she was most upset. I asked some of my friends what they thought and they agreed that they would be pissed too. So it must just be me and my flawed logic but I still maintain a wine is JUST a wine especially at carnival time...the day I give my bf a no "wine rule"..please eh!
LOL @ Patty :)
I have the solution ... BAN D PAPARAZZI!!
Forget about paparazzi and what yuh might see on camera/websites.
What if de woman coming to wine up on yuh husband (not boyfriend eh) once, twice, three, four times IN FRONT YUH FACE? And you doh know de woman, is yuh husband friend? But she wining up on yuh husband more dan you?
Is not to scramble she and put she in she so and so place?
(I'm just saying)
first off .. how u does got your man in de same band as you and not be "playin' wid him"
the purpose of having de man is to have someone to do things wid ..... he may dance wid others but he wid me
if i want to dance wid someone badly enuff .. i ask no biggie, better to ask than get mek shame
me and the BF played two years same bacn same section. We can wine as long as we keep it moving. At one point I saw him winin on some random chick and I took a couple of pics. He finish wit de wine come over kiss me on my cheek on we keep going. One time I went to the cool zone, he comes to check for me and sees me some guy taking a lil wine a me and makes a comment to his cousin "I thought she was coming for the mist". No biggie. A friend of ours was making a ROCKUMENTARY of Carnival and brought it home to show the family. One point I see the BF wining up on some host of some show. Pretty thing. He takes his wine and keeps it moving. Now of course I got little jealous, just seeing my love on some bumper but thats just the woman in me. No Big deal. It's a big deal when the girl he wining on does not know that the pavement does not end in front of my man. At that point I may simply have to intervene and check his ass, but never had to do that yet. Our digital picture frame shows few pics of him wining on some women and guess what I took the pictures. It's carnival for crying out loud. He is leaving all fetes, carnival monday tuesday, he is coming home with me. I want him to enjoy himself have a good time, look back at pics, smile and start planning all over for CARNIVAL 2010. Trust, Resepect, Understanding, and a love for carnival is what we have in common. But thats me and him. I can't speak for no one else. Don't get me wrong, when I see him taking that wine, I just say ok, do your thing, pull out the camera real quick snap a pic and keep it moving. What the hell is the point of getting mad, confronting him and female and runing everyone carnival experience. Yes, we have a rule and that is have a good time, and keep it moving.
My Bf and I have played in the same band for two years an i never had a wining rule i thinks it all in knowin your limit an how jealous of a person you are i have no problem with him wining on plp because i have real pics wit myself wining on my male friends an he happily took the pics as evidence to laugh at after,I crossed synergy stage him wining on my friends but its all about how you do it and knowing yourself. We had friends who's gf's didnt want them to move from their side i prefer you do it in front my face rather than behind mih back then i would be worried but at d end of the day its about havin fun an enjoyin your self
ok, My 4 cents -
Wining Rule for Carnival - A waste of time. It's Carnival - Again, a waste of time.
In addition, if you really don't trust your significant other, i.e. his/her behavior brings in a question to his/her commitment into the relationship, then the rule is again, a waste of time.
He/she will get on bad regardless. Unless you there, stuck to him/her like white on rice.
Communication is the key when it comes to what behavior is acceptable to each other. A WINE - small ting.
HOWEVER, if your wining is to the point where you shame your underwear, WELL - all ya better talk before all ya Carnival separately.
AND if ya wine on someone and ya get ketch, doh lie. That will make the wine, not a harmless wine but something else.
AND really, in things like that, the devil is in the details.
MJ
I read d post late today,(which is not normal for me),could not have been avoided!!
Make no sense repeating what everyone wrote so i'll make it short and sweet!
No no wining rule, that's just silly.
You can wine on whoever, after all it is carnival, but respect me and yourself.
Me and hubby go fetes and play mas together all the time and we never have any problems.
All yuh playing all yuh ehn know people who does want to wine as if it ent have tomorrow... all kind of scissors wine and have you back bend over and foot in you mout an all kind ah ting... dem kind of wine is for me and me man on we carpet in de house... not for somebody ah just meet in carnival... soreee.
But ah agree particularly wid de person that say "keep it moving". Part of the abandon of carnival is being able to get on with strangers, all man an jack is ah fellowship... to feel de annointin of a sweet boomsie. So take alllll de wine yuh want... just keep it moving so I dont feel is not de wine yuh really after.
LMAO!! As Machel said: "jam, jam, jam, find somebody to jam...cause when u see me in de road is jamishness, if you cyah take dat leave me alone!... Doh try to mess up we plan, we eh looking for confusion, If u know u have a man, if u know u have woman BEFORE u leave out de house make dem to understand...Jam On! Ride On! Climb up on it! Ride Up on It! Push Back On it!"
Ah mean how realistic is it to have a NO WINING RULE!??! NOT! cause I does see random people running up on random people taking a lil wine and moving on.
Now as a husband or boyfriend I think they should know their parameters! What's up w frequent wine ups w de same woman throughout de day!? I would be heated too because on the reverse side if I was gonna wine up on de same winer man all day he would not like it either. Come on think about it and doh lemme have to outline any rules for you at all or u for me for dat matter!
Know de limits...but just know the no wine thing is crazy! LOL!
saucey i'm back for more!! lol!! unfortunately i don't want to "KEEP IT MOVIN" I have to agree with what you are saying there are certain way to do it and you do have to be respectful of the other person but at the same time it's all about having fun. just wanted to clear the air!
a 'no whinin rule' for carnival??? LMAO!!!!!
ummmmkay... so while he's not whinin on other women for carnival, when he reach back home he bullin' dung other women... steups. some women juss dotish fuh spite. lol
I agree Saucy! Some of them really do "feel that is freedom to come and wine again...and again.. and again!". That ish is disrespectful man. Some man was winin up on me and I give him a lil wine back...then I saw him wit his wife (who he felt it was necessary to introduce me to). Everytime he spotted me he would come and try to wine up on me. Go wine on yuh wife and leave me alone nuh? It made me uncomfortable, I don't care if they have that kind of relationship. I'll give yuh a wine once, but like you said Keep It Movin!
Preach ms. hershey, preach... :)
Im considering finding ah hubby who don’t do carnival avoid all ah dis, lol
In brief:
*whine & KEEP IT MOVING
*same woman all night - NO!
*a relentless woman who relentlessly whining on your man – Your man needs to know when to tap she on her leg & tell her to KEEP IT MOVING!
Pictures of your ‘SO’ whining on somebody else will always make my heart skip ah beat (as someone said that’s just the woman in me) but you over it, its carnival, as long as you all didn’t try to become friends afterwards & kept it moving!
A picture speaks a thousand words (some necessary & some unnecessary)
Lol @ Fcuk comments
Lol @ mjsbunny who say 10 sec aint even an opening bar or chorus to tusty!
No me and the 'SO' keep it moving with each other. No hooking up with anybody going on. Yeah I have some pics of him that I took, but it just a picture, a memory. I am not going to restrict him from having fun. He knows his limits, I know mine. It's all fun at the end of the day. Nothing to lose sleep over.
I say it 2 everyone: Couples must not play in the same band to decrease d chance of any problems. I also believe that if you are in the same party you should wine only on your man/woman. I think wining with others in general is ok,once you don't pass wining. I do believe it a problem if d woman or man wining on person all night or long periods of time,DEN THERE'S A PROBLEM!
