Techno reaches a wider audience. I love techno and house and really like when soca artists experiment with the genre.

Denise Belfon went world wide with a house track mixed by Masters at Work, Fireball went top of the charts with a Bob Sinclair remix... so its a good thing for our artists to get the exposure and think outside the box.

JT, if he were experimenting with techno in HIS music or doing a techno remix I would agree with you (even though techno is one of the few music genres I don't care for). I could even go for a Soca remix of an old techno song. I'm all for innovation. Additionally I usually LOVE music that defies boundaries and categorization.....but his band playin 20 min of 20 year old techno music while he jumped around on stage was quite frankly boring.

I know what you mean IS, and I never even saw him perform this season. But I thought Machel would be one of the artistes who would be experimenting with remixes, like you said. I think it would be brilliant and is something I would genuinely love to hear.

But as for Fireball's remix, I nearly fell down in the shop I was in when I heard it come onto the radio. I was happy for him to have had that exposure, but it still made me laugh, because that song (to me) is inherently funny.

I could live without the Techno music (unless it is his own music and then I am willing to at least give it a listen but not for 20+ mins). I just hope that I am happy with the concert its a heck of a lot of $$ to pay to be disapointed. I never pay dat much to see a darn Machel show in TnT so it better be good.

Dance and house is great and really reach a wider audience, and mixes brilliantly with all genres.

HOWEVER. The trashy-pop 90s Techno that he used for carnival this yr was cheesy back then and is more cheesy now!

If he brought that rubbish to Europe ... OMG! That would be embarrassing!
