Once again
Karabana is working hard as she has your first look at Toronto Revellers "
Brazil .. Bacchanal in Rio" presentation for Caribana 2009, check out the band launch pics on her blog
here.
And yes Kara, one cannot help but notice the feathered arm pieces on that fuchsia pink costume, this is the third Caribana band to copy a costume element from Trinidad Carnival 2009.
And while I no doubt understand that inspiration comes from many places, I would still point out the similarity in design in any band, even one in Trinidad. As I said before, imitation is probably the sincerest form of flattery and in 2009 the designers from TRIBE should be overly flattered!

My eyes HURT from looking at the costumes. BUSY!
How could you have a RIO theme with not one single caged bra?
I'm not saying anything re: fuschia costume topped with feathered arm pieces.
SIGH!!
I am so disappointed in costumes for Caribana, I only costume that i liked was sold out at the launch. I guess caribana is not seeing me this year, I might consider SLU since I like the reused materials from Spice ine ed INTL.
Well that sealed the deal 4 me! I'm still looking 4ward to seeing Callaloo, but more than likely, it's all about Nationz!!
I'm not surprised you used this photo either Saucy ;-) Carnival takes inspiration from Carnaval, and Caribana & every other carnival gets inspired by Carnival. In the rather small world of carnival design, that's to be expected. It's all good!
