At the close of registration for Spice, well maybe that should be after the start of registration for Spice one section option is showing out of stock online and that is China - Warrior:
Some random thoughts/observations about Spice online system:
*User information from last year is not accepted, so how does Spice know who is a new masquerader or not?
*Prices listed on the website are in US dollars and at the mas camp in TT dollars, there seems to be a discrepancy in the exchange rate so it works out cheaper when purchasing at the mas camp.
*Prices are EXACTLY what was posted on the blog last week, with the exception of the male costumes , Rubies of Mumbai Frontline and Greece Backline which were nominally reduced.
*Online registration continues all day/night and not in tandem with the mas camp hours, so it puts those online at an advantage over those registering at the mas camp.
*Sizes are pre loaded and pre ordered so what is out of stock online in your size cannot be requested. There is no option to type in your size for the belt in inches.
*Several sections are already out of larger sizes, wonders how many were actually pe ordered?
*There is no size chart on the website so no knowledge of what S,L,XL, etc means in terms of belt size.
*The largest frontline costume goes to 36C (I was also told this when called the mas camp).
*Nothing on the website indicates that if your size is not listed that you should call the mas camp for more information.
*The shoulder pieces for Thailand Frontline and Backpack for Moroccan Heat are not shown.
*New masqueraders are able to register online even though it is supposed to be for past masqueraders only.

Yea I noticed this - all seems totally chaotic! A retrograde step Spice?
I did not play with them this year, but was able to register (and then cancel before I paid - I think we're sticking with Tribe!).
I accidently added the costume (backline Moroccan Heat) to the basket twice, and a message appeard saying there was only one costume available in that size! (34DD - surely quite a common size?!)
Effing brilliant!
"Service that has become synonymous with Spice". Looks like that phrase is taking on a whole new meaning, eh?
The website was not working properly when I tried it last night - it kept taking me back to the main page.
I totally agree.
Spice could have been the BEST option beside Tribe and IP but with all this mess...!?! Wonder if people gonna give them a chance?
Saucy is best Spice hire you to consult and show them how to run their business properly. If they can't get a basic thing like the website, pricing and basic customer service right you could imagine the kind of chaos that we will have to go through with costume collection and on the road. And those prices like they eh notice we in a recession that the Gov't say is going to get worse. Steups. Come again Spice go back to the recipe book and find a proper recipe and while you doing that get some chefs who know what they doing.
even IP website was not such a mess and it allowed you to register for all sizes or send in your bra. Spice needs to look at the infoblast TRIBE sent out and see what organised looks like. their website is a mess, very hard to navigate and that crap with pre ordered sizes pissed me off because I could not get a 36B top, imagine that! What about MAKING the costume when the masquerader orders it?
Spice seems to have no idea that this is a recession and they were only an option to a lot of masqueraders because of perceived efficiency. That is quickly fading.
Can no one get a basic business model correct? Deliver what you promise, be accommodating and listen to your customers. Period.
Also, Capsian sea does not have a corset, and frontlines do not have the corset option because some of them have monokinis. However, for those FLs that do not have a monokini but a 2 piece, there's still no corset option :(
It's actually surprising that this website debacle happened, considering they had an additional week to get it right. They must have "misplaced" their log of previous masqueraders since their old usernames/passwords did not work. The web admin could have hidden the link for new registration until today. That would have eliminated much of the drama. It also would have helped to develop a site that was backwards compatible with older Internet browsers. The site works fine on my home computer, but at work, all the writing is jumbled together. Oh well...these are growing pains for them, just as TRIBE had in 2005. And look at TRIBE now! According to that registration schedule, they appear to have things in place to minimize frustration, TLC card abuse, online rusing, etc. Spice is still looking for that "missing ingredient," and like most new businesses, everything won't be right for a few years. Hopefully Spice gives a quality experience on the road in 2010 and rectifies all the registration issues for 2011 and beyond. That will be a real test to see if they adjust to their lessons learned.
What the hell????? Okay..this doesn't bode well for the masqueraders...How inefficient!!!!
Just trying to navigate the website alone was a complete turn off....PLEASE if someone from SPICE is reading....create a more user-friendly website!!! It is too confusing and all over the place. Simplicity is best.
Spice really in a mess. If this is any indication of their service, can u imagine the service on the road????? Mass confusion ! They really can't compare themselves to Tribe, cuz Tribe realllllllll organised. Spice.... come on get yur act together! I in TRIBE for sure!!!!!
this sounds eerily familiar to the same problems that people have with registering online for IP Mas. especially the pre ordered sizes, that is wrong on so many levels!!! for a band that is trying hard to compete with Tribe it looks like they are falling short. Spice is only 2 years old, they need to humble themselves and come again.
If they were planning on having 2009 masqueraders register first for 2010 then those people should have gotten a special # or id.
I even tried registering and it allowed me to even though I had never played with the band.
I guess they are taking all of this as a learning experience. Seems like this is going to be a bit of chaos though.
Good luck spicers
Well I was able to register both my husband and I in Isis very easy. Spice is my backup band, just in case IP comes with something better I will be selling off my Spice costume. So those who didn't get thru worry not I bet their will be tons of costumes on the resale market. Hopefully people don't start with the costume scalping this year :(
Bit of a risky move there Trini Princessa, because Spice may not sell out, so people will not need to buy costumes off another masquerader when they could still buy them in the mas camp.
mjsbunny I'm more looking to sell to foreign masquaraders (England, Germany, etc).
Also I think ISIS is one of the hottest and well made costumes the band has. It already has many sizes sold out. If not my husband and I could just play in that costume.
I have always used this method (2 years now I registered for at least 2 costumes and have always been able to sell my registration either on the net or right at the mas camp).
My point is though, that that approach only works if the band is sold out and there is no other way to get a costume. This works for TRIBE and IP, who tend to sell out within a few days of registration. This may not work for Spice.
But if the band is not sold out and there is still a lot of choice, it would be infinitely easier to deal with the mas camp directly. N'est-ce pas?
the reason why the user names and password don't work is because their using a different site altogether, its not just a change of address...is best they used freewebs yes
that type of site is not really or those kinds of things I find, but whatever.
the frontline sizes are annoying because i was a 38c and got a fl last year and I also registered backline in the mas camp and got a 38c bra to try on, which fits very comfy!
I dont know why they dont have the prices in TTd on the website and the writing is too small also they need to fix that.
Thailand FL with the shoulder pieces were available last night when I logged on. I did a test to see if it would take my order but was told it was sold out.
spice put themselves out of the competition with the website and the size issue
that must be how they does close off registration AC lmao
all the female China costumes have now disappeared from the website...
