Black and White vs Blocko, Miami Carnival 2009

Ok people, my group is split on which fete to attend on Friday, October 9, for Miami Carnival.

Being a newbie to Miami Carnivla fetes I was advised Blocko is the one to go to however, some of the other ladies are bowing out of Blocko (which is free drinks with Kes the band and Hoppy) in favor of Black &White (which is also free drinks with Back to Basics and DJ Private Ryan).

So, my question to you, expert Miami Carnival fete go-oers is, which one should I choose and why? Feel free to add suggestions of other Friday night fetes as well, I even saw a boat cruise advertised!

well this may help u decide: Black&White will have a heavy NYC crowd, I don't think many NYers go to blocko so that crowd may be more local (Floridians). Depends on who u wanna fete with lol. Being from NYC myself, I would choose Blocko!

Hey Saucy. Just yesterday I was talking to my girls about which fete to go to on Friday. I live in Miami and have been going to carnival for years. Usually, I go to the Socavivor International Flag Fete at Bayside Hut. However, I'm getting tired of the crowd and I decided to try a different fete this year. I'm leaning toward the Black and White party. I love Kes the Band, but I can't see myself paying $40 for just ONE band. With the economy, I'm trying to get as much bang for my buck. Bunji is also doing a show Friday night called Miami Vice. I saw the ad on Toronto Lime and I think it's $30 in advance. I'm going to Girl Power on Thursday and Socafest on Saturday. So, I may just do a regular party Friday night. If I come across any other parties for Friday, I'll send the links your way.

Thanks Jennifer and Curlylocz, I am getting more and more info on the demographics of each fete (read the comments on the poll) from friends as well and I think I am leaning towards Black and White!

Go to Black and White fete..Its really good!! But be aware...reach early cause the venue is usually packed also the lines are looong..down the street and around the block!! Once they reached their quota..they dont let anyone in..ticket in hand or not (and dey doh give refunds eh!)...So if u decide to go...GO EARLY!!!!!

Ive been to both....and theyre both good depending on your mood. The blocko is a lime with your friends laid back, wear your flats kinda party..and its the ONLY party ive heard to date with KEs the band... and im a Kes groupie. Honestly it is a more Floridian based party... because the promoter is/was a mas band producer locally..so his followers support the event.

Black and white is a more upscale, dressy party. The drinks are ALWAYS amazing... and I have ALWAYS have a good time there. The crowd is a bit more diverse. Out of towners but I've never felt it was overwhelmed with New Yorkers per se.
So i would choose based on budget and mood for that that night.

Ive done Flag party too and it seems like the same formula each time...

I'm gonna pass on both this year..im gonna go to superfriends on the beach :)
