IP on the road to being sold out. I hope they have a good year, service wise, for their own sake!
I am no where close to being surprised with this one...Taal is by far the nicest one of the lot...not that there was much choice (@ least for me)....let me not hate.
My guess is either Bindi or Priyadarshini to go next...
Errr...yes she is bunny. LOL.
After beening 2nd in the line on saturday and asking everybody when they came in what section they playing in, i expected taal to go first. The first 8 people was registering for taal, 6 frontline without backpack and 2 with backpacks. Person #9 was registering for bindi and from #10 - #13 was in taal. Then #14 & #15 was in chutney bhaav (i was kinda surprised. #16 - #24 was in taal, #25 & #26 was unsure, #27 was in bindi, #28 was in mudra, #29 - #34 was in taal.
At that ponit they had organise us into a proper line and we were told that the first 30 people would be allowed in to register at a time. Registration started at 10:58 by my watch.
I had completed registration by 11:08 by my watch and i limed around till about 11:20 by which time the line outside had more than 50 and inside had just over 30.
I feel mudra would go quickly too

Im just happy that people were willing to forgive them for this year and come out to register. I didn't want to be the only ones (me an my crew)on the road with the IP trucks come carnival Monday and Tuesday LOL
Thank you Trinicandy for pointing out the positive change in logistics @ IP... Saucy briefly mentioned in a previous post (not related directly to IP though) that registration had started smoothly this year. I think after all the IP-bashing exercise it is worth noting that the change in management is actually showing (in a good way)and that the band has listened to its masqueraders and is stepping up to the challenge of customer service. Apart from an outstanding presentation for 2K10, IP seems to be trying to make it up for some of the nightmares encountered in the previous years. Proof that masqueraders/customers do have power...
Sonia usually posts her costumes on her site, doesn't she? And very late too, I might add. I want to see what kind of pricing options she has for Kalpana, but all those beads and no feathers giving me pause...
The Divine Ms.Mack (sarcasm here)has been doing that delayed posting junk since her days in Poison. Sheesh. I love her costumes but really. Ah anxious over here man ;)
I'll give IP a try again seeing that they have been nice and quiet and putting their nose to the grind, not getting into band wars and junk. Just focus. That is a good sign. Besides you getting some kinda costume for a change. I predict next sellout will be Bindi and Mudra FL.
i have to agree with Mulata972 on the registration system/process. To me it is flawless...from the friendly ushers at the door...to the showroom reps...to the fitting room (with the cute kuchela index cards)...to the registration staff and the cashiers. They even had a back up plan for the system overload..that allowed the process to continue to flow smoothly. I felt like i was in a totally different mascamp/band by extension. Can't wait for distribution and the road!!!Kudos IPMas

Forgive me if I am wrong but if I recall correctly in 2009 IP started off with a service bang! I remember reading compliments of how well IP did during its initial stages to the point where even I commented positively and hoped that they followed thru. Unfortunately IP did not follow thru on their original stellar service and as such you had people complaining at the end.
So for 2010 not only am I going to congratulate IP on preserving its initial service as far as registration etc. I hope that IP follows thru on service till the last drunken mas player has left the IP experience. I hope that all IP mas players get their entire costumes, music on the road and will never have to chase the food or bar again.
Ppl at the end of the day Island ppl is the Ppl's band we have the most fun on the road with them this band is Full ah Vibe ask any past maqurader..yea the service is crap,yea yuh costume might buss on de rd lol but ohh gosh no band is perfect. They got it together finally good for them. Ip ah coming back again 2k10 ah love allyuh bad bad.

Yes people, your costume might fall apart on the road after you will have waited three hours in the hot sun to collect said costume. You might not receive ALL of said costume in the first place and you might be ready to drop down from thirst because drinks run out. But oh GAD-OH!! The JAMISHNESS!!!!! HOL' MEH!!
Me? I will play in my full costume that will last me long after I reach home Tuesday night, with my belly full and my head nice from fabulous food and plenty drinks. And if things don't work out as planned? Well, somebody will ring me up to apologise.

I mean thinks that we take for granted in a big band and when we go and play with ah small band...namely 'Genesis' we then realised how privilaged we are to be part of a band like Island People Mas. My husband and i came down from Ny to play with his friend who were playing in the this 'hot of ah mess' band 'Genesis'. I was so vex with him he didnt get loving from me for ah good 3 months lol. This band had no truck carnival monday,we had to go get money out of the fast service because they have no links,the food was horrible and the only premium drink they had was Jonny walker...am a woman i like Baileys. So when ppl bashing meh Island ppl who i played with since they 1st came out with 'Enchanted Forest' it does well hurt meh heart. I does good rag them up when they doing mess i aint saying Ip perfect but what band is really?
So i guess us masquraders have to demand what we want all they can do really is to change where they went wrong and am already seeing that change. So Ip ah coming and ah wining on low down to meh knee cap...hahha so ah hope i put a smile on allyuh face again.

People act like ALL the drinks run out on the road in a certain band. No, no, it's the drink of THEIR choice ran out and then they cry about it like babies, as if it ent have a next truck or another damn drink too choose from. Drama kings and queens I tell you.
Carnivalcocoa...i'm with you on that one...not to mention...i observed quite a few IP masqueraders giving away drinks to non-masqueraders...as well ppl from a certain other band (the other network)...lol drinking from IP bar as well...my thing is if one truck doh have what you drinking...go to the next...ent if one store doh have what you want you try another? Ppl need to stop complaining and stop encouraging the assholery...i.e. giving away drinks

I also saw folks from "another network" - my limin' padnas in fact - all eeen de IP jamishness and drinking from IP's bar with their band's wristband AND an IP wristband they got from a 'link-up'. They left excellent service for IP vibes. I'm not even mad at them - enjoy yourself yes.
to Sherah...Bindi is definitely next on the list to be sold out...initially i thought it would be first..but who knows anymore..since taal (aka ruby topaz cousin)looks like a typical been there done that costume...just goes to show that ppl claim they want something different but they actually prefer the same thing as before.

No No afro chick...what i meant was they didnt have no links in the camp to pay for yr costume and you know you could only withdraw a limit of 2500 from the fast service. So if yuh had like 3500 or 4000 if yuh playing in a frontline wha goin on with you...dem putting ppl in place to get rob we.
But Island ppl in the game i was down here on holidays for summer so i registerd and am playing in Sonia Mack front line...she really have a talent to design costumes her sections are always hot.
So i looking for prices for Tickets online too book now for carnival and i tell u the cheapest 527us lord. But ah coming!
