News from Genesis and D Krewe's Website is Up!

So, at least some of my questions in yesterday's random thoughts were answered. I was informed that Spice has 1900 masqueraders registered (and not the 100 as it is being rumored) and some of those have registered in sizes up to 44DDD (none frontline however)!

I am guessing the fact that none of Spice's sections are marked sold out as yet means that with those many supposedly registered they are leaving the secitons open due to the overwhelming response from masqueraders?

Genesis is making a return for Carnival 2010!!! Though there is STILL no information on their website I found this bit of info:

Genesis band launch is due to take place on Sunday the 20 at Aura and the theme for Carnival 2010 is "The Desert"...otherwise known as "Sahara" ... de ja vu!

D Krewe has finally updated their website WITH prices since registration started in house yesterday. I am pretty happy to see that one section has a male costume for under $2000.00TT. On the flip side, as much as I do like Kindred Spirit Frontline I don't see how it is $5500.00 which puts it at more than Mystery of Loulan and just $100.00 CHEAPER than Caspian Sea. I personally think it is an expensive frontline being just fabric and all!

Hmmm. Fine line D'Krewe. I'd be really annoyed if I paid all that money, theyn they re-design the section after Christmas.

I hope their loyalists aren't put off by the price...

Oh, and someone on an FB group I lurk on, has said that they signed up in Spice. They got a hook up. Why the hook up for a band that isn't anywhere near sold out?

Well, she's not paying the 'extortionate' prices. So yes, she's getting a discount. I don't even want to begin to speculate on the discount and prices and all that. It'll just give me indigestion.

Tres interessant...

DKrewe I'm loving the presentation - but please reconsider the following sections i.e. scrap them:-
Yellow Fever
Passion
Dessert

Overall minus them 3 sections - Salvage looks good!

Better to have 9 nice sections than 12 with some ok looking sections that really don't look Salvaje!

KS & Zulu I luv.

Why does DKrewe want you to send a picture of yourself to complete the registration?

There registration form has this in bold:- Please send us a picture of yourself to complete your registration.

D'Krewe looking good. I agree with 1mauvaislangue, those 3 sections can go. Heck, they should be re-designed. Kindred Sprit is fire!!!
The backline prices are good too. I guess the loyal masqueraders will probably pay those FL prices.
Otherwise, good for you D'Krewe!

Kindred spirit FL price is due to the intricate hand stitching that is required for the costume.... so now i understand why it's that price

Saucee - 1900 masqueraders??? Let's be real.

1900 registered masqueraders and not one sold out section or frontline. Intristing.

If thas in fact the case and they are aiming for 2000 masqueraders they should be about 95% sold out by now.

If they are aiming for 3000 masqueraders which is an increase of 6 times what they got last year, they are now about 65% sold out.

And no sold out sections or frontlines even declared ? Wow.Thas real, real interesting.

Me and my friends pass by their mas camp the other day and it was dead as a doornail compared to IP where they were a steady flow of people. I sure IP and Harts don't even have 1900 registrations yet and they have had a steady flow of ppl at their camps since launch and have already declared several sections sold out.Compared to Spice.

Spice, you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Talk about over hype.

Anyway let's wait and see. If they claim to have 1900 now in early September 3 months after launching, and they get just another 200 registrations per month for the next 3 months or 600 more masqueraders they will have 2500 by December. Therefore by December they should certainly be sold out or at least most sections should be. If that happens Saucy and my information proves to be wrong I will pay for your costume in Tribe :).

Last year's rumours about Spice, Elements and Kaos turned out to be true and all 3 bands ende up real small with less than 500 masqueraders each.

Saucy let's raise this again 3 months from now in December and see how rumour stacks up against Spice's claims. Incidentally some of these rumours are also coming from the mouths of several of their own committee members.

i mark it on meh calendar... three months from now!!!

I dont think 100 masqueraders is true, and I don't believe 1,900 is true either!
And how many of the people registered have actually paid after half of them were refunded their money?!

mas.jumbie said...

SLK I have it from good, good sources that is LESS than 100 to date. Of course they will never let on that thas the case as it would be bad image for the band and sponsors and people looking to play and it could hurt them.

If the band selling so well then there will be no need for discounts and offers would there?
If something selling fast you don't discount. Is plain logic.

Wait and see if discounts and offers dont start coming out?

Last year both them and Elements say the same thing, band selling out fast so hurry. Yet up to Carnival Saturday Spice was not sold out and you could get a pick of any costume or section you wanted. In fact a group of about 6 friends were able to go and buy costumes at a 50% discount and at that time they still had endless costumes for sale.

I am in Tribe so it really don't matter to me. But for those willing to take the gamble don't say you weren't given the heads up. And if you are smart you can hold out for a discount.

Decmeber is just 3 months away, let's wait and see.

I will bet anything that what I am saying turns out to be true. So expect big discounts, offers and I suspect that once again costumes will be available right up to Carnival Sunday.
