The poll results are in and Blocko just nudged Black and White, to take 48% of the votes as the fete to be at on on Friday October, 9 for Miami Carnival.
Going against the poll, I have come to a decision after my own research on both fetes and I will be heading to Black and White that night, while some of my group are going to Blocko.
Other fetes on the roster are TRIBE Ignite on Thursday 8, October and DV 8 All Inclusive on Saturday 10, October. DV 8 ticket "reservations" can be made, the cost of the ticket is $50.00, the fete will be from 6pm to 12 midnight and the location of DV 8 is still being kept under wraps.
So, those are the fetes I will be attending for Miami Carnival. I have been told they are all "
stoosh" fetes, including TRIBE, so it should be very interesting. I am super excited, counting down the days until I land, and planning fete outfits accordingly!

Saucy, I'm taking a similar route to you. I will miss TRIBE 'cause we arrive Miami on Friday! I may go to Black & White, 'cause I would not pay to go see Kes again.
... And I enjoyed myself and got my money's worth at DV8 DC, so I'll be there again in Miami. With Vale Vibe later on that night!

Sunday - Have tried to make the parade the past five years with no success(sleep). So, based on that will not try and go South Beach to hang then dinner at Barton G which I highly recommend...good food, drinks and ambiance.

I think the problem is that a portion of the parties promoted by out of towners are not advertised here. I have yet to see a flyer for Red Eye, DV8, or Darkers. The only ones I've seen advertised religously are the Socavivor series of fetes, the two all-inclusive day fetes (UWE Fete, etc.) SocaFest, and Last Lap at Virginia Key. They not even selling tickets for Red Eye here. I had to ask my friend in NY to get me a ticket. Unless you have time to hunt down the Internet for these fetes, you just find out word of mouth.
It's not that the parties aren't promoted on purpose. As an out of towner bringing a party, you have to send the info and flyer to the Miami internet sites. You have to know your audience and do research. You can't just say "I wanna have a party and promote a week or two before carnival. There's so many parties ppl go to religiously every year. You have to give them time to look into it and make buying tickets more accessible to those in that city.
