Well, the cost is for the makeup artist's handiworks. The food, a/c, and cushioned seat are complimentary. Me tinks ;) By the way, designated drivers have to wait in the cars, ok (extra friends' opinions slow down the process, yuh know.)

Just kicksing :)

I used Ria last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was my first time getting my make up professionally done. I'm a lip gloss and go kinda chick.

I was thoroughly pleased with the final product even got her to organise some matching contacts for me.

I would certainly recommend her services to anyone.

I see nothing wrong with good service which may include a few complementary extras. Keep in mind the schedule for makeup starts in the wee hours of the morning. A cup of hot chocolate and something to munch on at 4:00 a.m. might not be a bad idea. Perhaps all-inclusive is not the appropriate wording for the ad but to me it says that the artist is considerate of the needs of her clients and attempting to anticipate the things that would create a positive experience. In the end, once makeup done right and 5:00 o’clock appointment means that no later than 5:10 I’m in the chair…….l’m good. As for the price – I think we already established that carnival is a luxury item!

Ok, the first year I had professional makeup done breakfast and a little goody bag was also included. The goody bag included a lip gloss and perfume sample, glitter and some other trinket...I thought it was a cute touch

I agree the breakfast was good to have while we were waiting, even though we would have had breakfast when we met the band WHICH WE DID NOT because we had to wait to get the makeup done AND ended up meeting the band late... just as my section was about to cross downtown actually. That was in 2008 and I believe I paid $250.00TT.

Last year I got no breakfast (or goodie bag) and paid $400.00TT, which is the same price I will be paying this year... and stiil, no breakfast lol.

One more thing.....I selected Ria last Sept via this website. Never had makeup professionally done and thought I would give it a shot for 2010. Actually, I sent several inquiries to different artists. After reviewing Ria’s portfolio and website I sent her an e-mail. She was prompt in her response, not just by e-mail but she actually made the phone call within a couple of hours (this was 5 months ago) to arrange appointment time, colors etc. About a week ago, she again made the long distance call to me to confirm my appointment and to see whether I had any changes or needed any special accommodations/requests. I have been impressed with her customer service thus far and really commend her for the effort she has put forth. On the other hand, another artist referenced on this site who I contacted the at the same time as Ria, promised to get back with me shortly (within a couple of days) and I finally heard back last Monday…… over 5 months later. Now, that’s the difference! Although the final test is still to come I like what I have seen so far.

Good job Ria! I work closely with a friend of mine who does hair and makeup when I travel across North America to my fitness competitions that I design bikinis for. I have to tell you, Make Up Artists are some of the hardest working in the beauty industry, and have to contend with dealing with WOMEN when they are at their most vulnerable (nice way to say that us women can get pretty bitchy AT TIMES when it comes to the pressure of looking perfect!).

And yes, artistry is a big part of what you are paying for. Not to mention the cost of the makeup itself. Lord, if I haven't spent a small fortune of late just getting the waterproof thing down perfectly! Those tiny eyeshadows, glitter, foundations, etc, etc, really are expensive and really do add up!
