Right Now I selling TRIBE!

This has go to be the most INSANE mark up I have seen this year on a costume!

A Charmeuse Male, size 38 waist, for sale; the downpayment to the seller is.. wait for it.. $5500.00TT AND you still owe $1400.00TT to TRIBE.

And then the seller has the gall to say "sorry for the high price but this section n custome REL HOT in demand"(sic). Maybe they need the extra money to pay for some English lessons!

If you buy this costume from this seller you have earned yourself the Ramgoat of the Day Award compliments Trinidad Carnival Diary. Your prize is the special knowledge that you are the day's biggest sucker! Carry on!

I've realised that a lot of people see this as a money making venture. They knew quite well that they weren't going to play mas this year but saw the kind of profit that people made, so they went ahead and registered anyway with the intention of selling at a markup.

I have purchased 4 costumes off of resale, only 1 was at a markup (500 more)because we wanted to make sure that we were all in the same section (many foreigners). I sold my costume at face value and bought another for myself (at face value).

Following what Caribbean says, I'd be surprised that there is someone out there dumb enough to pay this.

I know for a fact that people are selling for what the costume is worth. And I also know that people are getting beaten down from even a $500 profit.

And people will still be selling their costumes even after they've collected/or at collection.

So this is laughable! Really!

It's funny you post this today because last night I saw a Mulberry backline for $5000 and my mouth dropped. That is about the price of the frontline!!! These people are being very ridiculous but, like it was stated before, someone will buy it. Now, I had to click on the post to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me and sure enough they were not but it's a good thing I did click on the post. On the right hand side of the post it said
"Remove costume because:" and when I scrolled down to see the choices it said,
"It's already been sold." or "It's being sold for more than the original price." So, I clicked the appropriate one and report them as a scalper.

If more people started reporting them as scalpers then hopefully fineahband.com will start deleting their post.

I am not sure, but most likely it can be the same guy...my friend was looking for a male costume on fineahban and saw an ad for one male costume:
Asking Price:TT$5000
Balance Outstanding to TRIBE: TT$1500

So basically the "stupid" buyer would be paying TT$6500 in all for a male costume.

Another seller was selling his male costume for TT$4800 and when my friend enquired why so much, he was told (much to his surprise) that is was "a male frontline"!!!!! My friend must be living somewhere really remote - quiteto, quiteto to not realize that TRIBE is now doing MALE FRONTLINES!!!! hahahaha

BTW Dali, my friend also reported the seller to the site...

so many people are trying to make a profit from re-selling their tribe costumes. it's ridiculous. in my search anyone who was trying to make a profit i did not even bother to go further with them. it's not cool at all. i sold a costume 3 years ago and never marked it up so i refuse by principle to pay anything extra.

Well the latest is selling costumes to the "highest bidder". A friend of mine was told by an individual selling a male costume, that they are accepting bids and it will be sold to the highest bidder. The highest bid at the time was $5000TT and a balance still due to Tribe. This is pure madness!!

Unfortunately, guys are being "raped" the most. If they wait till Carnival Saturday to try and get something at the mas camp - is "salt". Tribe usually has no uncollected male costumes. So many of them are so desperate for the "winery", that they end up paying these prices....which is sad!

I say, "It's not that serious! Just chip on the side and mellow yuhself"....don't even in to these scalpers!
