rofl lmaooooooooo i on the ground rolling
okay so how much costumes was set aside for online???? my answer is plenty less than 200 according to a fellow blogger
how come online store sold out and not a section sell out yet????? i feel if i answer this saucy might have to delete my comment so i will plead the fifth
i cyah wait to see mas.jumbie comments on this topic
I don't get the logic behind the sold out online concept. If you still have costumes in your mas camp, why be sold out online? Not making any sense! What is the point of emailing to register, or worst having to make long distance calls?
YEAH. RIGHT.
HMMMMMMMM. Them must be really tink ppl stupid. Whoever handling their marketing should be fired instantly.
In JULY 2009 when they launch de band their facebook read "The Spice Carnival Band Showroom is open for business!Sizes are going fast...make sure you come early to get your first choice!
They were going fast in JULY 2009. SIX months later in December not a single section sold out. Not even a frontline which normally have just about 10-15 costumes.
Then in September they make another FALSE claim that they have 1000 registrations yet not a single section or frontline was sold out......Like we eh go to school too......so we stupid and go beleive whatever they tell us.
Now after people begin to see through the FALSENESS of their claims they SUDDENLY sold out online..... and again not one single section or frontline in the band sold out because you could get into any section when yuh go to de bandroom.
Also, we all know that selling out is a gradual and not overnight process unless you are Tribe. Even Harts took a few months to sell out and posted their sold out sections on a weekly basis. IP ketching they skin and still eh sellout online but somehow Spice between Tuesday of this week and Thursday sell out online all their sections.....with no sections being previously posted as sold out....YEAH RIGHT.
Saucy they must be reading your blog and seeing that they being exposed so they trying to cover it up AGAIN.
One thing I sure about is that my info is right. Without exposing meh source too much what I would say is that is somebody close and in the know as to what is going on nside.I tell you they eh have more than 200 registrations even as of today and they in real money worries.
Anyway PPL wake up. If a band or company will try to deceive its customers like this what else will they try to deceive you with?????....Maybe a promise of UNMATCHED SERVICE. Which is what they promise and from feedback they have NOT delivered to date.
Hell they eh even have the courtsey to get back to ppl complaints and queries on their own facebook page or even here.
Spice stop taking all of us for fools and for a ride. Is not you alone went to school and bright. If the band actually come off in 2010 and manage to make it to 2011 do yourself a favour and fire you head of marketing, they assistant and they secretary and get a new marketing team. And for that advice alone allyuh should send me a free costume as yuh go have plenty on your hands come Carnival Saturday.
PPL I write a book here so I gone with that one. Have a great Friday evening and a pleasant weekend everyone.
mas.jumbie, MARRY ME!!!!!
Lawd faddah! Look ting!
lol i was on the floor too! Mas.Jumbie u got the game to a T!
we all know they aint "Sold Out" they trying to play smart but looking stupid! we know IP does do the same ting but you can still walk into the camp and register and in the summer u see thier costumes pop up in that band Mist! that were billed as sold out!
they doing this for 2 reasons, 1 having an online system that no one is using is a waste of time and resources! and 2 to make people think oh gosh them sell out let meh call them or haul my arse to de camp to register quick! lol if its true and they only have 200 masqueraders, my band in the uk was twice de size of thiers lol!
i cant wait for further installments of Spice :-)
I don't see what all the surprise is about. The band sold out online meaning you cannot register online for any section. Even a few weeks ago, based on how their website works, for a lot of sections several combinations of bra sizes and bikini bottoms were marked as "out of stock" when you tried to purchase them while others were not. There is no telling how many costumes they made available online but clearly they are no longer available for purchase via this avenue.
It is also clear that the band is not totally sold out as some costumes are still available at the mas camp. But from my experience not all the sizes are available even in the camp either.
Only time will tell how small this band really is and how much money the really loss.
yea but Empress, alot of the pieces are being produced in china, after enquiries i made i realised that they only do select sizes, so that would suggest that the sizes that were not available on Spices site never were in the first place! i dont think anyone is really surprised at this outcome and i guess come carnival tues when theres 300 masquearders going down the road the proof will speak for itself! i myself will be looking out for them!
Who cares more room to palance free on the road with Spice be it 50, 100 or 200 people!!!!!!
I agree with you Aye Aye, whatever their reasoning at this point, I know one thing, I have my costume which I love, my two sisters playing with me and is the first carnival I having in ten years! So, like Aye Aye said "more room to palance"!!!!!!!!!!!
aye aye and snakeoilgyul2 i like the more room to palance but could there be a point that there is tooo much room to palance.
i remember the first year i played mas in 2007 in pulse8 there was about 2500 people in the band it was spaceeeeyyy and nice, probably about one man to fifty women (not good in my opinion) but some sections just had too much room to palance and it made the experience slightly boring at times
I'm with mas.jumbie on that!
I want to cheer, but it might end up as a jeer.
To me closing off online registration is like closing oneself off to access from potential customers, esp. foreign-based ones. To get some buzz going, just slap a "sold out" sign on one or two of the hot sections like IP do, ALLEGEDLY. (been hearing this about IP for years. Just saying. . .)
BACHANAL MAS: The sizes were once available online before. About a month or two after registration I was still able to select my sizes (pretty average) in almost all of the sections I was considering….fast forward to bout two weeks ago I was only able to purchase my size in Adulis. What I was told is that Spice stupidly (my word of choice) preordered fixed amounts in certain sizes for all sections.
Carnival Cocoa: If foreign masqueraders really wanted to play in Spice they would have registered already and if they really really want to they can always call the mas camp. Yes online registration makes life easier but thank heavens is not the only way to do things
empress i would agre with the prior statement, clsoing off online registration is limiting yourself, sold out or not! most bands stay online to the last minute, especially during this climate. i know a few people here in the uk who have literally just decided to go trini and booked flights and are now looking for costumes, in my opinion they shoulda stayed online till atleast first week in Feb.
Honestly...their website was so poorly designed that you can't even navigate through it!! You have to call them anyway!!! They listed which sections are sold out on the website home page but then you have to memorize which of those sections are sold out because the main catalogue page of costumes doesn't indicate which ones are sold out. Then, if you're like me and you click on "sold out" rubies of mumbai and wings of isis anyway, for example, those costumes appear as though they still have frontline and male available! Sooooo...they're not really sold out?? Huh?? If their registration computer system was tight, they wouldn't have to resort to telephone and in-person registrations only. Closing online registration really is not as convenient as people either have to find their way to the mas camp or make international calls (foreigners) and stay on the phone for a long time trying to figure out what's available and what's not. They claim this is due to heavy demand but I think they are really scrambling to secure registrations due to low numbers. And if that's the case, keep online regsitration open. I don't know...
Hi Empress, I back-up exactly what Bachanalmas just said. There are people who do wait until the very last minute (as in carnival week) to decide to go to Trinidad for carnival. Not everyone registers early or even plan their trip early.
I agree that the website is just an option but the competition is very stiff now with carnivaljunction and fineahban plus other bands on stream. I think Spice would have benefitted by staying online right along with them. Options, that's all.
so if their costumes are premade how does it make sense to keep online registration open a week before the mas? How prey tell shall your pieces arrive in time and in tact?
Anyways if Spice is a small bad they a small band. If dey loss money den so be it. I cyah see people who choose to play with dem not enjoying demselves cause d band too small.
Nobody putting wool over my eye. Aint nobody deceived by what by the PR for Spice saying bout online reg being closed. Give people a lil more credit dan dat.
As for believing every rumour flying round from every "reliable" source I, personally would prefer to see for myself come Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
C- Can't wait for Tue
A- Acting a fool
R- Ready to party
N- Never on time
I- In everybody business
V- Vex about something
A- Always liming
L- Last Lap
Live your own life people and stop worrying about something that has nothing to do with YOU...
I'll be on the road with SPICE, big band, small band (aka) my band. Worry about your band lol. It's Carnival time to have some fun.
a few questions for mas jumbie...i do respect your input, to an extent, but, u sound as if you were the marketing manager for this mas camp, who was fired and you are very bitter about it.therefore your valid points are being lost in emotion. maybe they are trying to pull the wool over our eyes ,but ,how and why is this affecting u? u belong to the almighty "tribe" .why put so much passion and concern into a "small" and "irrelevant" mas camp as spice with a mere 200 members.? if u see this as your "job" to find these problems, you should finish your "job" and FIX the problems ,or simply SHUT UP and move on
So nolan, are you the new marketing manager for Spice?
you know spice succeeding for another year would have been a good thing. I was waiting for them to be declared the other "IT" band. I had hoped IP would have taken that title as well but they are still working on their problems.
Having more "IT" bands would have given masqueraders more options rather than being in a rat race to get into Tribe.......every year it is a new problem to get into Tribe if you are doing so by lawful, without a hook-up means. And i will admit i am usually at the head of the rat race pack.
And i was hoping more "IT" bands was have forced a price control on the costumes. Cause next year i will most likely be paying between $4200 - $4500 for my backline costume.
I hope these news about Spice arent true, i hope you all succeed leaps and bounds, i hope you all learn from your mistakes.....cause mistakes are ok just dont do them again.
Good luck and i wish u all great success
no im not the marketing manager for spice...i am,however playing in the band this year...so that means im a member of the spice house...so if one has nothing else to do in his own house and finds himself in "my" house ,looking under the bed tuh see if the posey empty ..i have to say something..dont u think? as i said before...dont just diagnose....if yuh doh have a remedy............mine yuh business...there are so many pressing issues that we as carnival "jumbies" can focus on instead of throwing "toilet paper" on each other...e.g ..how the HELL is vybz kartel a headline act in licencing fete? has machel montano ever set foot on a reggae sunsplash or sting stage? never..why r we so bedazzled with the gully and gaza to have these people TAKE over WE ting?..in 5 years carnival will be another sting if nothing is done....carnival is we ting ,, our SPIRIT...CARNIVAL IS TRINIDAD..why we switching it to d gaza? this i think is a bigger issue than who band sell out....focus on all the money we sending to jamaica instead of keeping it in trinidad
*Sends a high five to Nolan*
Don't you smell something? I think a certain individual posey is overflowing(Mas.J*caugh*)ROFL. JK
In all seriousness at the end of the day it's our Heritage & Culture that brings us all together. It should not matter if you are in a band surrounded by hundreds or thousands. Just be happy that our culture is still alive and going strong.
