Sweatproof Your Carnival Makeup

One of the readers of my blog, who plays with Harts and also owns a very successful business designing Competition Suits for body building women called Passion Fruit Designs, sent me this youtube video to share with everyone:

In the tutorial  she tests out her makeup at the gym to see how well it holds up to sweating and I am loving that she is even wearing her Carnival Hair in the video!

Ignoring the other post because I really have no time for that negative crap 4 weeks before my trip.....loving this post Saucy...I will definitely subscribe to her. I actually went in to Sephora last week to get the same foundation but they didn't have a sample for me to try and the salesperson that "attempted" her version of customer service wasn't really helpful so I walked out. Will go back and get it. Have a great weekend all!!!!

Thank You Saucy and Miss Passion Fruit.

This was very helpful, especially for someone like me, who has no clue on how to choose effective makeup products.

The recommendations will really prove helpful to a person like me, who walks into a shop like Mac, Sephora, or even Walgreens and gets immediately confused by the range of choices, which generally leads to frustration, and nothing being purchased.

This will help to narrow the field tremendously.

Although I get my make done professionally for Tuesday, this will be very helpful as I sweat my way through a rigorous fete and Monday mas schedule.

Thank you for sharing.

PS - Love the hair!

Absolutely love it. Going to buy the products and test them out. Lord knows I sweat buckets within the first hour of being on the road.

Wow...the make-up looks great after sweating for two hours at the gym. Very helpful because like Trini Orisha Gyal, I too don't know which products are most effective. I'll be testing this out as well.

I am so glad this was helpful! I am going to do some research to find the best blush colour (cream or powder) which will be most long lasting on the road too. Will keep you posted in a new youtube video when I figure out what works best for me. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great.

Also coming up this week will be my spray painting my above the knee boots in gold" video. I got a great pair of really comfy boots that I wore for Miami Carnival 2009 but they do not match my costume which is black and gold. I thought it would be fun to do a video of that.

Great job Berns! I've always been a proponent of Carnival makeup testing. I've gotten some strange looks when I show up at the gym in heavy eyeliner and sparkly eye shadow. But the payoff is definitely worth the initial embarrassment.

Can't wait to see you in Trinidad!

Hey Karen! Yes, I know about the wierd looks, and this time I didn't really do any crazy Carnival glitteratzzi either. But I am of the school of "Ah juss doh care" what anyone else thinks about me, as long as I am not acting crazy, you know?

Your makeup always rocks though. What are your big tips?? Can't wait to see you too. When are you coming in? I get there on Wednesday morning the 10th

Big tips? My only secret weapon is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as a base. The key is to let it dry completely before applying eyeshadow, and you'll have a crease-free look all day. I don't wear foundation, but you've obviously got that covered.

I'll be arriving on the 6th, so we will probably have a chance to link up and lime a bit before Carnival.

I'm getting more excited by the minute!

Hi Passion and Squeezle. I always like these inside the "war room" tips. Keeping it hawt takes quite a bit of effort, but as a guy I appreciate all you do on your parts to keep the looks down in Trinidad so very cosmopolitan! I do love the vibes and wining n ting down in Trinidad, but I love the unlimited variety of beautiful faces even more.

Passion, nice shout out to our girl, SaucyDiva.

Hi, This is really helpful as I don't know much about choosing makeup, especially longlasting, and i always end up looking like a sweaty mess in the fetes and on the road. Could you suggest some places in Trinidad that I can get those products suggested or even online? Thanks much.

Makeup Forever sells online at Sephora or Amazon.

Macys sells MAC or you can get MAC products at the MAC Store in West Mall.

Wow I can't believe I almost missed this post. Great video Passion Fruit. I'm glad you shouted out our girl Saucy on youtube.
Anyhoo, I'll give the face primer a try. Primer do indeed make a difference. But I still love the Revlon Colorstay foundation. I've sweated through that in many parties and the color truly stays.

Yea squeezle that Urban Decay eyeshadow primer is awesome, maximum staying power for real.

I love Mac/Urban Decay products, they always do the job right. I have the Mac Prep + Prime (for the face & lips)and the Mac Studio Fix Liquid Foundation. I have been using these products for years and I can honestly say that, after any party of jumping, waving and gettin on real bad and sweating real hard. I come out the party looking exactly the same as I did when I entered. ( I also did my 2 hour intense gym workout with it and I still look flawless)

These products are official. I also use Urban Decay ( you can purchase from Sephora) for my eyes, and it makes my eyeshadow smooth and extremely long lasting.

Like Squeezle said, let the primer dry for a lil bit (1-2 minutes) then apply your foundation/ eyeshadow

Here's a tip for the ladies.... If you purchase the Mac prime and prep or the Urban Decay Prep, you can use any foundation/makeup that you can find in a drug store- It works just as good with the cheaper makeup products. It doesn't have to be too expensive.

Happy Carnival... see you on de road
