Carnival in April and May!

The Easter Holidays in Trinidad and Tobago have come to an end with many of us now recuperating after enjoying THREE holidays in a row.  I myself am now coming out of a lethargic stupor, so lets catch up on all the Carnival events that will be happening in April and May, to tide us over until band launching season starts in full swing.

First up Jamaica Carnival climaxes this coming weekend with Bachannal Jouvert on Friday April 9th and Bacchanal Road March on Sunday April 11th. For a listing of other upcoming events check out Bacchanal Jamaica's website. Here are a few photos from Beach Jouvert which took place on April 3rd:

Wendy Fitzwilliam

Fay-Ann Lyons & Bunji Garlin

Following Jamaica Carnival we have St Thomas Carnival (April 4-24), St Maarten Carnival (April 15-May 3rd) Cayman Islands Carnival (April 25 - May 1) and  Tampa Carnival ( April 24).

In Trinidad Point Fortin Borough Day brings back Carnival in May, mark your Calenders, May 1st is when all the action goes down. And, to keep abreast of all that will be happening, including the listing of Jouvert Bands that will be participating in Borough Day, check out Point Alive.

See the Point Fortin Borough Day Calender of events and  what else is happening in May after the jump.

Finally, Beach House is back for "Mayfair", their post Carnival event that takes you back to Blanchisseuse on May 16 (see www.triniscene.com for more information):

Faye Ann again wid a mother neck tights and a tshirt.

Faye Ann fix up!!! People paying to see you! That's why soca music wouldn't go forward, if you don't treat it as a business, a spectacle, an event, something special... how we could compete internationally? I never see Beyonce in a tshirt and a tights yet when she performing.

Well look how me ent even study Faye-Ann's clothes lmao(although I will agree with your observation Spiceness).
I was reading this post feeling jealous I wasn't in the islands for Easter. Easter is a not a real holiday in the U.S in my books. It's just another 2-day weekend,no long weekend, since we don't observe Easter Monday in the U.S.
Yawn.

I agree that Faye Ann's out fit was not the best...but her performance was GREAT! It was the best i've seen her in a long time and i really felt that I got my money's worth...unlike Destra's performance last week with much lip syncing and no vibes...but her outfit sell off...so at the end of the day, I prefer to pay my money to hear an actual voice, catch lots of vibes and enjoy myself...rather than see someone in a hott outfit with nothing to deliver..

Hmmm Destra lip synching? That is a first for me. She can outsing Fay Ann any day any time- that musta been an off day- she just had de baby, ah giving her a pass. hehe. But she understands that soca needs to be a business- she is the only female artist that releases a video consistently every year!

Re Faye Ann I dont have a problem with her. I quite enjoy her earthiness and her songs (soca is not all about singing- lol, much to my chagrin) but this is 5 years and I find she does not dress appropriate to perform. A tights an a tshirt, in london last year- headline act- and she in a hoodie (people does stay home in that!) and a three quarter jeans. Machel would never do that!!!!

Show biz is about hype. Nobody interested in a badboy/badgyal image. Sing you song, sistren. You have good tunes. And come on stage looking like a female BOSS- double road march winner et all. Just as she is the in thing, she need to realise that she might be the out thing (she had a couple of years when she was out) and I see that as a bit of complacence on her part. I shouldn't be asking who singing!!! This tights and tshirt look like she going an jump jourvert.

Anyway that's my pet peeve with her. I love how she has made it against the odds, she hasnt always had a nice life- and how she is aspirational- not Bunji's baby mudda- HIS WIFE (yep haters take that!),how she combines motherhood with her career and also a REAL back home SPACE TEETH girl with NATURAL HAIR. I am just criticising her constructively.

Spiceness, it's not the first time I've seen Destra lip syncing...she's been doing that pre-pregnancy...and if you just had a baby and you can't give a paying audience a good show then take some more time off...
