What!!!!! At first I get excited b/c I'm thinking- "yes!!! carnival in sin city- that's a great mix for bakkanal. Plus the parade would be right ont he strip and broadcast live world wide. But when I do apply to the websites and see the prices are in the flippin' thousands????? My dreams were immediatley crushed. Also, they are creating direct competition for those of us who enjoys Miami Carnival. wow. It's a good idea, but wwwwaaaayyyy to rich for my blood.

By the way, are any of these bands all inclusive? - b/c that was convienently left out.

Well the prices are ridic....hands down, but it is Vegas - so I'm not surprised. But I dont get it - tons of people have these costumes already. Tons of people living in the US. Why pay $1200 when you already have the costume? Might as wel just book your flight and hotel. Steups.

And another thing, I've got to give Spice props on their page on this site. They get an A+ for presentation. Someone with no idea about Trinidad Carnival will definitely go with their costumes based on this presentation. Tribe needs to get rid of those recycled pics and spruce up their page.

Vegas mas will not be seeing me.
Strike 1: They charging $1200 US for an all-inclusive mas package for one day when we get that same package for 2 days in Trinidad.

Strike 2: $1200 US and no air nor hotel included YET.

Strike 3: They really think they can compete with MIAMI carnival? Have the thing another time nah, not the same day with Miami. For $1200 in Miami I get airfare, shared hotel costs, car rental (shared too)and fetes. I guess Vegas mas will be for the West Coast folks then. They could jump up in the desert if they want yes.

Bonus observation: TRIBE's Vegas theme is "Jewels of the Caribbean" and those old costumes have a new name in Vegas. Check it out: "Black Magic" is now "Black Gold", "Charmeuse" is now "Coral Reef", and "Xi Ling Xhi" is now "Sun & Sea" and the list goes on. Only "Humming Bird" remains the same. Do you TRIBE.

Well said Carnivalcocoa! Those prices are beyond ridiculous. And did not one west indian stand up and say 'hey Oct 10th is a bad idea!' There are other three day holiday weekends in the US that are free for a Caribbean event. For example Memorial Day and Fourth of July both of which avoid other carnivals.

That is a real slap in the face to Miami who has been producing there carnival for years. I would be P-I-S-S-E-D!

I suspect that some price points were considered before the prices were set. Without knowing what entry/participation fees are - its's hard to say. I will not knock an effort like this because I do believe there is a potential market for this. Also, if this is truly an international effort you would think the prices are in line to similiar offerings from other parts of the world. It's not for everyone but I like the idea of spreading the culture to dimensions of the US market not yet tapped. I hope this is sucessful!

As for the $1200 US.....the economics may work for some when you add the difference in airfare, hotel etc.

talk about a rich man's mas. its interesting how carnival has become appropriated by a multinational arena lol. Makes me sick seeing that one of these costumes are lieing in my closet when they are being sold for 1200 dollars. Here is where I appreciate marxists.

I will not be paying 1200 for a costume I paid 600 for (and still have) that included food and top shelf liquor for two full days! They must be crazy!

They need to rethink that and quick!
