So, it will be remiss of me not to dole out the congratulations to our country's first female Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, who won victory, coincidentally, right before the country celebrates Indian Arrival Day on May 30th.
As usual you know my take on things always has a Carnival slant so here are MY questions as Trinidad and Tobago ushers in a new political era
*Are masqueraders finally going to get a stage?
*Will the Carnival Centre ever get off the ground?
*Who will be the new Minister of Culture
*Does this mean no more bullying security entourage for Max Richards in TRIBE paid for by tax payers?
* Is there going to be a change of who is in charge of NCC?
* What will be the prize payouts for Panorama, Band of the Year and Dimanche Gras?
*Who thinks Soca Monarch 2011 should be held in NAPA?
*Which Ministers of UNC/COP/TOP will we see playing mas?
*How much support will this new Government have for Carnival and all things related to Culture?
*And finally, did Island People have a psychic vision of what was in store for Trinidad in the year 2010?

Great questions Saucy! My grant proposal was just rejected by the TDC and I'm still positive that TT will promote itself in faraway places.
Haha. I had to laugh at the Island People 2010 prediction. All the best.
... Other strange occurrence my word verification is "manting" so close to "Manning"
Interesting questions Sauce...we wait and see what kind of responses will be forthcoming.
While I'm on a punditry roll, here are some thoughts on your questions...
*Are masqueraders finally going to get a stage?
Just to be cussed, there will be a remake of the old Savannah stage until the item below is built.
*Will the Carnival Centre ever get off the ground?
Expect lots of stakeholder discussions and no construction to start before sometime in 2011.
*Who will be the new Minister of Culture
I'm feeling Verna St Rose Greaves.
*Does this mean no more bullying security entourage for Max Richards in TRIBE paid for by tax payers?
Max's security will follow him wherever he goes. Including a sailor band called "To hell and back."
* Is there going to be a change of who is in charge of NCC?
Political appointment. Expect change within two months after all the state boards are revamped.
* What will be the prize payouts for Panorama, Band of the Year and Dimanche Gras?
Wasn't there some talk of payments in the millions? Expect raises across the board, but the biggest jumps will be in the long underserved Indo-Trinidadian festivals and competitions.
*Who thinks Soca Monarch 2011 should be held in NAPA?
Expect fresh thinking about Napa and some distance to set in between its current positioning and a fresh, "inclusive" plan for its use. Will that be "all-inclusive?" Answering your question with a question.
*Which Ministers of UNC/COP/TOP will we see playing mas?
More, hopefully sexier ones.
*How much support will this new Government have for Carnival and all things related to Culture?
Expect first raises in the level of support and then fundamental changes in the way the Government relates with culture, removing some of the more obvious mechanisms of handouts in favour of initiatives designed to be sustainable.
*And finally, did Island People have a psychic vision of what was in store for Trinidad in the year 2010?
Vision. Hah.
My other act of punditry is here: http://lyndersaydigital.com/brain/dump_files/punditry.html
Nice ones, Mark ;)
And, really cool Skype interview (written) with Sonya Sanchez-Arias (Skullduggery).
LMAO especially at the Island People thing! Both an intriguing and comedic post Saucy! LOL
"Max's security will follow him wherever he goes. Including a sailor band called "To hell and back."
I love it! BRILLIANT!!!!!
To answer your questions Saucy, I have one answer: Culture will be shitted on. AGAIN. What's new?
