The
Trinidad Express is reporting that Carnival lovers may be able to rejoice at the return of the Savannah Stage for Carnival 2011:
Carnival 2011 may see the Parade of the Bands returning to the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, Minister of Arts and Multi-Culturalism, Winston Peters, told the Express yesterday.
However, he said he is still trying to settle in at his new ministry so he is yet to decide what he will be able to build on, as well as what new he will need to establish.
Peters also said he was very serious when he said Carnival 2011 will be the best ever and he intends to work with all stakeholders to make this happen.
’Returning to the Savannah is a consideration and we will do our best to make this happen once it is possible,’ Peters said in a telephone interview.
’I will meet with all the special interest groups, NCBA, TUCO and Pan Trinbago, with whom I am meeting on Wednesday. I may not necessarily meet with individual bandleaders, as they will be heard through the NCBA, but I will meet with as many stakeholders as need be. I don’t want to talk about plans as yet because we are still going through the records and reports.’
A return to the Savannah just MIGHT see me on the road for Carnival 2011! What are your thoughts on the possibility of crossing the Savannah Stage, some of you for the very first time? Is this a good idea, do you prefer mas on the road and do you think it will ease or add to the congestion of bands?

Please please please Mr Minster we want the STAGE!!!
I absolutely agree....I want the stage to return.
I've never experienced the Savannah stage and would indeed like to see what all the fuss is about :D Bring on the Stage!!
I'll believe it when i see it.
I for one want the stage!! and it will also be my first....though i enjoy crossing the so-called stage they have now i think it passes too fast.
Best news ever! I think real carnival lovers don't care about congestion as long as we can prance on the stage...it's soooo long overdue!
I second that Carnival Kicks. Bring back the stage!
I think this will be an excellent idea cause I myself played mas for de first time last year, and as you all know they was no stage. This will be my first time crossing the Savannah stage. Which I know will be a breathe taking experience in itself. Makes me MORE glad that I purchased my ticket already. So the Savannah stage for carnival 2k11 I’m all for it. *crowd chants* WE WANT WE STAGE!! WE WANT WE STAGE!! BRING BACK WE STAGE!! lol lol
Bring on the stage!! Waiting patiently to see how this plays out
Steups. The year I decide to hang up my backpack for a few years, is the year they bring back the stage? What a kick in the bollocks!
Bah!
I just KNEW that Gypsy would come through. Even is he is unable to make it happen for next year, the fact that this is a priority to him speaks volumes. It can only get better!
If they bring a stage back next year I'm going INDIVIDUAL all the way! I crossed the stage with Poison and there is nothing like playing mas and jumping across the savannah stage.. It was so beautiful it literally brought tears to my eyes!
If Minister Peters could pull that off, then I will eat some of my words.
And yes please bring back the stage for us masquearders to show off on and for spectators to get a spectualar view of the mas and marse. Trying to show a "mas" on the streets alone has taken away some of the showmanship factor.
STAGE??? Ah there!!!! I remember my last night on the stage like yesterday...Tribe's first year and we crossed late at night. Which brings me to my next point - we can definitely expect more traffic and congestion if the stage comes back. But I would take it!!!
If Gypsy bring back d stage I go vote him in over and over and over again!
