Here is a hint.....

Remember I told you on Friday that if anyone made a guess as to what is this exciting news that I cannot share I will give you a hint of what is in store? Well, check out the comments on my post "Take a Wild Guess". Someone got the information spot on!

It is getting harder and harder to keep this a secret since it seems like so many people already know about it!

Here is a question for you:

If the Savannah Stage returns for Carnival 2011 and your band does not decide to go to the Savannah would you play with that band or another band? How important is the Stage to you? And if the band that chooses not to go to the Savannah is the perfect sized band; smaller, intimate, with fun party vibes and nice costumes in a smaller package.. which wins, Savannah or a perfectly sized smaller band?

That's easy for me, a perfect sized band bypassing the Savannah's real Stage. The mas "stage" for me has always been on the ROAD and MOVING :) The party vibe for me include my band mates understanding we are MASQUERADERS first and foremost. Our band is a gift to the people on the street who came out to SEE us. And we are just not a band looking inward to ourselves and our own sub cliques within the band. The Savannah Stage is great as a destination and release. However, I like the multi orgasmic effect when the band hold together (not necessarily always in sections, but MOSTLY) for long stretches of the STREET cavort. And, the perfect sized band to me is neither too small nor too big. I want to be wowed by size but not to be drowned by it.

Hmmmm..this is a tough one. I would say Savannah i guess simply for the fact that I've never experienced it before (but on the other hand..since i never played on the stage, i dont know what i'm missing? hmmmm) lol

This was supposed to be easier? When I think I have THE SAUCE all figured out, she does stuff like this. Yuh right, yuh name is well deserved Ms. Pepper Sauce.

Hmmm this is hard. The savannah has always been the 'destination' of achievement. It represented a physical core of carnival and when it was gone, people had to reprogramme themselves by claiming that the stage had little value to carnival (which proves in that very action that it did).

Because of the removal of the stage, it gave bands (and the masqueraders) the opportunity to focus on the experience, and not the destination.

Hard one! I want both. Just have two stages. One for large bands and another for all others. Get a creative person to build the appropriate stage, like a two in one stage, this way you have the experience and not the drama. :) is it written in stone that u can have cake and not eat it? :)

In my opinion, the "Stage" is over-rated! For the masqueraders here who never experienced the Stage: if any of you played mas this year and was stuck between Park St. and the savannah for hours, the return of the "Stage" will be worse!

If the small band allow me to cross the remaining judging stands as an Individual or Frontline properly, in all of my glory. Then I can skip the savannah, because I refuse to rush across that stage in one jumbled mess with a huge costume on.

Carnival Divaz, I am SOOO agreeing with you!! There were times this year, when I truly hated the people in TRIBE. So your comment hit the spot!

I LOVED jumping across the savannah stage. BUT with bands getting larger and larger I don't know if that will be fun. Standing up in the hot sun waiting to cross the stage is NOT FUN.

May have to go with a smaller band next year IF the stage is coming back.

Maybe even a NEWER band smaller band. I'm saying this early I hope their is TCDL (trinidad carnival diary loyalty) registration for us readers LOL.

There are so many pro's and con's to this stage or no stage. If section leaders can actually control their sections and masquraders and have them cross fun fast and orderly then it will be all good. I agree that Individuals show get a change to showcase, then frontline then the rest.

Carnival 2K11 is gonna be a good one either way. I look forward to it!

I don't want to choose, I want it all. I just want the bands to MOVE. Period.
What will do me fine is a medium band or a reduced large band a la IP 2010, good vibes, hot costumes, food and drinks catered to, AND a big-ass stage to perform on. Performance is carnival.
And having it all used to be possible once upon a time. Oh how I miss those days.
