I am sorry Machel's performance was POOR! Poor poor poor and wayy too much reliance on props. Iwer you are the true Soca monarch of 2011.
machel is simply the king of soca, his music always outclasses the others...i dunno why these people hatin so. thought bejai wud win groovy though, congrats guys.
Machel and Iwer were tied 1st for concept; Machel and Bunji was tied 1st with ad lib lol the free styling; and Machel and Iwer both had the crowd more than Bunji slightly.Finally, Machel won over Iwer in execution. Machel was whey better dressed than all. Machel deserves to win, hand down. The overall show however was a major disappoint; poor audio; lack of sufficient facilities for the number of people and i could go on and on I will watch it on TV from now on.
Machel...time to take Advantage! Stamp on it, tramp on it...!

After watching the entire show online and watiting wee hours of the morning I honestly thought that the decision would have been an honest one. Machel's performance FAIL and to be honest so did everyones elses. Bunji was great lyrically (as always) but his attacks on Machel and Iwer (although entertaining) did take up too much time of his performance and cause him to lose points. All in all, I think Monarch was a big failure and was glad I wasn't there. The show as far as the GROOVY portion of it had great results as for the POWER there were no winners but there were only degrees of losing. Sorry.
They both deserved their wins.
Machel will always be hated on, becuz he is jus so talented and passionate in what he does.
Although he played the mind games quite well with the others, throwing old talk and throwing them off their game, while he delivers an excellent performance.
Now cue the rumors of bribery and cheating. whispers* who cares.

Listen, from the time Machel said he was entering, they wrote that cheque out to him. He could have gone on stage and whispered his song, and he would have won. There is no way Machel could have entered Soca Monarch for the FIRST TIME ever, and not win. He is simply the biggest draw at any fete. Machel could sell out a concert in a couple days. Bunji? No. Not so much. So the result was a foregone conclusion.
Was it fair? I have no idea. I wasn't there and I didn't watch the stream. And to be honest, I don't really care. None of them deserve or need another $2million in the bank (apart from maybe All Rounder), so whatevs.
It'd be exactly the same if Minshall decided he was bringing a band again. Regardless of if it was any good or not, he would win. It is what it is.
actually this isnt machel's FIRST TIME entering soca monarch he was in soca monarch since it started in 1993 and stopped the year he came out with big truck when he was gonna win, cause he wanted to tell some of the other artistes that it isnt only about wining its about trying to put on a great performance
Were any of the commenters above present at soca monarch? There were two totally different crowd responses for iwer and machel and iwer definately MASH UP.

Thank God the soca monarch isn't all about crowd response Empath. Regardless of who mashup, the content of Machel's song was better than the content of Iwer's and that is where I think he may have gotten the edge. Talk dun.
When it comes to entertainment, Machel is way above the rest. Iwer was good but Machel showed what being a entertainer is all about. The rest of the artiste should take a page out of his book. Machel carries soca music to the point they still trying to teach Well done Machel

Machel's song has no lyrics Iwer's is way better....ppl need to come out of this Machel frenzy where every shit he sing is a hit Iwer is guilty of that too but this time around his song is better and his overall presentation didnt fall short in ANYWAY dat title is rightfully his. talk done.
I do not understand what most people saying. Machel performance was good performer on stage. But the competition always been about who can move the croud the most. Where the points is no matter what. Judges in trinidad always been bias. Come everybody know they cyah make machel lose in trinidad. No matter what dey say bunji sang better and he move de croud better. He did not have de props like machel. They would not make bunji win. Jus as did when he should of 3 peat. Dey cyah have dat! No hatters! People telling yur how it is
I was at Soca Monarch finals...and yes Iwer did seem to garner better crowd response. However crowd response is NOT all that is being judged. Stage presentation and performance also matters...and for this MAchel had the edge! And doh forget the text votes...from what was in today's experess Machel got as many votes as Iwer, Bunji and Faye Ann combined.
