What kinda bagels I like?!... Sesame of course....
Well I have been reliably informed that a certain North American Labor Day Carnival band who has released their launch date very early for 2011 has selected their sections and colors and has the WHOLE of the burgeoning New York "designers" in a frenzy.
Some of these New York "designers" have also jumped ship from another popular "newbie" mas band with the hopes of assured acceptance into this "stalwart" band ONLY to be left "band-less" for 2011... Hmmn, as this story is continuing to develop and I am being informed by the minute, I simply have two questions:
1) Will the Parkway this year be flooded with a SEA ah PURPLE/LILAC/LAVENDER/MAUVE (and any others you could find) in many different variations (a la Persian Gold)?!?!
2) Wha kinda cream cheese does go with ah "SESAME" bagel...
YUM!

WELL AS I KNO EVERYBODY GOT IN.... INCLUDING ME......SO I DONT KNO WEY THIS RUMOR COME FROM.PPL LOVE TALK FOR REAL..........
oh boy , here we go
No one is "bandless". Lots of new blood in sesame this year, can't wait till bands start launching. Congrats Sherzel!
I heard from a certain Producer in New York, said that "Sesame bagel got Kess, for their band on the road for Labor Day, and another newbie band "R" got Machel, well this is bachannal for sure. And that a certain band leader is doing 6 sections for the "Sesame bagel" and they had over 20 sections leaders applied and they only wanted 11 section leaders, and he is doing nearly all the production for the "Sesame bagel" band.
and the 'R" band wants him to do their productions too. The plot thickens. WOW,
HA! LMAO it can not be this serious! Really? We still talking about Eastern Parkway an not some production in Trinidad right? SMH because although I love to go New York for Labor Day, people hada remember, the time spent on the road is not always worth it. Especially when you play in Sesame, they does cross the 'stage' VERY early and does damm near run dong the road.
DCB, you ain't lie there at all. Jumping up with the bigger bands is a sprint up the Parkway, they so hurry to get to the judging point before the cut-off time. And that means a short-ass jump up. Not that serious indeed.
well i would have to say that is not entirely true, for the simple fact i have played with sesame year after year. and we are the only mas band for labor day that is allowed to jump from their mas camp up to the starting point and go straight onto the parkway. and to me its worth it cause you get your money worth and its an longer jump. and you have the best djs playing back 2 basic, natural freaks, dj spice, quiet storm, and jam central.so when you finish your beat but you have an hell of ah time.and they dont rush up the parkway either cause we start playing mas at 11 finish at 5'0 clock. in ny thats good enough time
Jalani, you're correct about Sesame, they do pretty ok with their time on the Parkway. But they're the exception.
Too many folks get shortchaged, like bands who don't make the Museum judging point in time (not always their fault mind you) and they get turned off at the nearest corner hence their jump up gets cut short.
In my experience with Burrokeets, they were so intent in making that "stage" and beating curfew that the music trucks had the masqueraders running horse races up the Parkway. They left off at around 12:30 to 1pm. By 4:30, we were at Empire blvd, mas done. Chiiiile, not me again. I'll chip in the back of a band in plain clothes and wine to the side too.
Not true Carnivalcocoa Borokeete's always makes good time coming down the Eastern Parkway and will slow down the parade route in order to ensure that they make the most of it.lol Borokeete's on de road and in the carnival industry for over 25yrs. We got onto the Parkway last year around 12:30ish and was finished crossing the judging point by about 5:45pm. Borokeete's was sponsored by Miami Heat and we mashup the entire Eastern Parkway plancing and wining with Buffy, DJ Young Chow and Pan Trin Vybez. Here is the link. Vegas After Dark is the theme this year. Heat.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhSlcxh8YKA
Crayolaboy, let me clarify: my experience was from about 4 years ago, not last year. That's why you couldn't relate to my story.
Well it's good that you had a time last year.
