Behold the TRIBE Carnival VISA card:
This is not a revamped TLC it is actually what I am calling an elite members card that is bestowed by committee members to their select chosen masqueraders to register before TLC holders and general public in the section of their choice. You can ONLY get the VISA from a committee member who knows YOU not from who YOU know!
I got to hand it to TRIBE they know how to keep the die hard loyalists happy and at the same time take the band out of the reach of "mere mortals" so that the demand is always more than supply! You know people will kill for the privilege of saying they have their TRIBE VISA.
Now... where is MY VISA card?

Correct me if I am wrong ; "Tribe knows how to keep their die hard loyalist happy " Well I used to consider my self a die hard loyalist from Tiffany (2005) to Masai (2011)and every year in between. However , I don't know any committee members oh let me rephrase that , I know many committee members however they may not necessarily know me. So that means that I am now delegated to a "mere mortal" now that I can't send one of the committee members an email beseeching them for a Visa. The long and short of it is that many so called " loyalist " will be left out because they may not be known by any committee members and that is a pack of bull crap. Basically friends , family and what I can do for you in the future will be the chosen few. Way to go Tribe !!!!!!!!!!
well said, Lady Devil, it's bulls#!t and nothing to be admired - i'm also a Tribe "loyalist" but am a non-Trini and don't know "the movers and shakers"
does that mean that registration is all but a moot point?
dats why i neva have and neva well even foster d most remote thought about givin them my hard earned $$$$$$!
I have to agree, it's nothing more than elitist bs. As Zebie said, just one more reason not to give them my money.
They may be keeping up supply and demand and taking it out of the reach of mere mortals, but as of late they seem to be operating based on hype alone. The reviews of the experience last year were bad, the costumes this year are boring, under decorated and unoriginal. I guess that's what a Tribe Visa buys you though.
I think this visa thing is a sad reflection of how classist our society, and our Carnival has become. Its the same reason why VIP in a Beyonce concert costs more than a half decent seat in the US, yet you can't see sh%t. We like to pay for being in ting, or at least brag about it.As if TLC cards and knowing committee members weren't enough levels of elitism. An American friend who went to Carnival ONCE, got the email from the band about the champagne booths at the launch and emailed me asking what nonsense is that? Imagine that.
