Whether it was a creation decorated by you, a special costume that was custom ordered or reinventing the Monday Wear given by your band, these ladies are just a small sample of the creativity that was seen on the road on Carnival Monday!

I am really liking this white fringed monokini as a Monday wear option for Harts Howlite (dead match) and even BLISS Titans It is a great alternative especially as those costumes are white and you may not want to wear it for both days. The monokini also comes in orange, pink, teal, black and pink/orange ombre.
Discount Code GJREG25 for 25% off valid until 28.10.10.
Micles is now producing their own brand of hot shorts in the very trendy Carnival appropriate metallic colours of silver, gold and pewter. The shorts cost $110.00TT and also come in hot pink and yellow. They also have a matching bandeau top and leggings if you are also interested in that kind of thing.
The hot shorts and sizes were flying of the shelves while I was at the Mall Branch of the shop so hopefully they have lots in stock for Carnival or you may just have to hurry and get yours if you wanted a pair!
Carnival Kicks has now added apparel to their online Carnival accessory offering. Colors include Gold, Hot Pink, Neon Orange, Turquoise, Magenta and Red and they will also be getting sequined hot shorts in stock.
The price range is from USD $15.95 - $22.50, check them out online at
Carnival Kicks.
In a related Monday Wear note, I found this sequined hot short set at
Musotica, it comes in 5 colour options, pretty cool for Monday wear:
I will be the first to confess that after my high of Miami Carnival last month, with fete after fete, I returned home to Trinidad and lost all zeal, anticipation and enthusiasm for Carnival 2010. Blame it on the fact that as much as I absolutely love my costume, having TRIBE sell out so quickly means that the hype was short lived or that overall there seems to be a lackluster response to Trinidad Carnival 2010 as so many ardent masqueraders I know will not be making the trip next year. Couple that with other popular bands NOT selling out and the virtual silence in the mas world and the excitement level was very, very low for me. Last year the gossip and internet chatter was ripe with the new bands on the scene trying to usurp the stalwarts but no publicity, or bacchanal, this year makes for a very BORING lead up to Carnival.
Well, that all changed when I finally started working on Monday wear and got boots to match! As far as preparations go I already have my boots for Tuesday, which I absolutely love, makeup appointment is booked, hair options taken care of and the special adjustments to my costume are in the works. The Monday wear had me stumped for a while especially since the first pair of boots I got fitted horribly and I ended up disliking them. Here is a boot tip for masqueraders out there; slouch boots are not a good look on average sized calves however if you have larger than average calves they should fit you pretty good. I hated them!
After stalking this pair of boots on a website for ages I finally came together with two other masqueraders and ordered the boots together so we got free shipping! Another tip, some of the shipping costs are almost half the boot itself so do as we did and get some friends to make a joint order to get shipping for free or split the cost.
As soon as I got the boots the whole Monday wear idea came together very nicely and I was busy sketching how I wanted the design to look. In all honesty it is pretty simple; I am not doing anything elaborate however a tip on where to get a certain design element I was looking for set the ball rolling and inadvertently kicked the Carnival excitement back into high gear!
So if you too have lost that Carnival enthusiasm, start the ball rolling by planning; plan your fetes, your footwear, your wardrobe, your makeup or your Monday, guaranteed to get you your “vibe” back. And for those of you looking for Monday wear ideas check out these sites:

So, I have to confess that I really do not like the necklace for my costume, it is probably the one thing that I am definitely going to change, among other upgrades I plan on doing.
On my quest for a suitable necklace I have discovered some gorgeous pieces made of rhinestones
that cost as much as the costume itself! And though I still haven't gotten a replacement for the flimsy necklace that just does not go with the rest of the fabulous feathered frontline costume, I have found some other accessories that add la little bling at prices that will not break the bank..too much:
Fredericks of Hollywood - 39.00US

And for those who can find a shade to match, my dancer friend recommended these
Capezio rhinestone studded tights for a little bling, the caveat is that it only comes in two skin tone shades:
Capezio -36.00US
Rhinestone Vest - $49.99.. Monday wear?
